    Obituary of Marilyn Czekaj

    Marilyn Czekaj passed away December 5, 2019 in Newfane Rehab & Health Care Center.  Born October 13, 1936 in Buffalo she was the daughter of Maxwell and Florence (English) Gately.  Marilyn worked for the Starpoint School District where she taught and was also a librarian elsewhere.  She also owned and operated for 15 years The Treasure Cove in Pendleton which was a craft and gift store.  Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Remigius Czekaj on February 4, 2017.
    Marilyn is survived by her children Mark (Christine) Czekaj and Lynn Czekaj; grandchildren Miles, Max Czekaj, Ryan P. Reid, and Sierra Cona; siblings Richard (late Dorothy) Gately, Douglas (Maria) Gately, James (Diane) Gately, and late Maxwell (Lorraine) Gately; also several nieces and nephews.
    Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, Dec. 10th from 3-6 PM with services following at 6 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  Memorial donations to Alzheimer’s Association, WNY Chapter, 2805 Wehrle Dr., Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221 would be appreciated.

    Obituary of Richard Gately

    Richard “Dick” B. Gately of Lockport passed away suddenly December 24, 2021.  Born May 26, 1934 in Lockport Richard was the son of the late Maxwell and Florence (English) Gately.  He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Gately, son Thomas Gately, and daughter Diane Gately Turney.  He is survived by his son Timothy, Daniel (Joni), and David (Jill) Gately; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings James (Diane), Douglas (Maria), late Maxwell (Lorraine) Gately and late Marilyn (late Remigius) Czekaj; also several nieces and nephews.
    Dick was a lifelong resident of Lockport, he retired from International Multifoods and later began his own business, “Tradesmen Enterprises” where Dick was a general contractor.  He was a kind soul with a smile and laugh that made him a joy to be around.  Dick will be greatly missed.
    There will be no prior visitation.  A private graveside service will be held in Glenwood Cemetery.
