Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was a lifelong resident
of this city and a charter member
of Grace Lutheran Church
and a member of the official
board of St. John's Home for
Children in Buffalo.
Mr. Lindhurst, a letter carrier
here for 40 years, retired
in 1951.
He was a longtime member
of the National Association of
Letter Carriers and also a
member of the National Association
of Retired Civil Service
Employes. He was a member
of Columbia Hook and
Ladder Co. No 1, North Tonawanda
Firemen's Benevolent
Association and the Junior
Order of United American
Mechanics.
Survivors include his widow,
Florence Strassel Lindhurst;
a son, Kenneth Lindhurst;
two daughters, Mrs. Louis

Former Manager Of Farm Dies
Herman J. Lindhurst, 81 of Estes Place, Ransomville, died Friday, (April 30, 1965) at Ransomville General Hospital. Born in the Town of Lewiston, March 17, 1884, Mr. Lindhurst had been manager of the Kelly Fruit Farms in Lewiston for 43 years. Just before his retirement, he served as custodian for the Lewiston-Porter School District for five years. A resident of Ransomville for the past 14years, he had served on the St. Peter's Lutheran Church Council for the past nine years, and also served on the new church building committee. Mr. Lindhurst is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helene Jacobs Lindhurst; a son, Arnold Lindhurst of Lewiston; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Schendel of Lockport; two brothers, Fred Lindhurst of Ransomville and Elwood of Youngstown and three sisters, Mrs. Richard Whitt of Ransomville, Mrs. Herman Doeblar (sp.) of North Tonawanda and Mrs. Stanley Forsey of Niagara Falls. He is also survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hardison Funeral Home, South Lake Street, Ransomville, with the Rev. Carl Oldach officiating. Jeanette F. (Lindhurst) Krueger, age 85, of North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY, died peacefully on February 13, 2009. Jeanette was born February 7, 1924 in North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY. She graduated from North Tonawanda High School, Class of 1941. She is survived by her beloved husband, Albert H. Krueger, Jr.; mother of the late Kathy Ann Krueger, Sandra (Joseph) Wawrzynek of Raleigh, NC, Debra Krueger of Lima, NY and Albert (Monica) Krueger of West Seneca, NY. She is also survived by several grandchildren; 11 great-grand-children and several nieces and nephews.Jeanette was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and served in many roles including Past President of the Church Council, member of the Altar Guild and attended Bible Study for many years. Jeanette was the Executive Secretary for K-D Supply for over 22 years. She was a charter member of the Meadow Elementary School PTA, serving as President for a few years. She was a Life Member of the New York State Congress of Parents and Teachers. She was also an active member of the DeGraff Auxiliary.Memorial Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, February 21, 2009 at 2:00 PM. The family gratefully declines flowers. MARION M. SCHENDEL
Cambria - Marion M. Schendel, age 84 of Ridge Rd. was called to her heavenly home on Sunday June 12, 2005 in the Lockport Memorial Hospital, under Hospice Care, after a long illness. Marion was born May 12, 1921 in the Town of Lewiston, NY, the daughter of the late Herman and Helena (Jacobs) Lindhurst. She graduated from Lewiston High School and Kelly's Business Institute and worked as a secretary for LAUR and MACK Construction Co. in Niagara Falls for several years. Marion married Robert G. Schendel on October 30, 1943 and joined him in the operation of the family farm. She sold produce at the North Tonawanda and Niagara Falls Markets for many years. Marion was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge. She served her Lord as a Sunday School Teacher, church secretary, as president of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and as a choir member. She was also a member of the Sanborn Friendship Club. Her Church, family and friends were most important in her life. Marion was predeceased by her husband Robert on June 13, 1983 and a brother, Arnold (Velma) Lindhurst. She is survived by her children, David (Barbara) Schendel, Brenda (Jerry) Hurtgam, Brian (Jackie) Schendel, and Bonnie (Edward) Fritsch; her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Harmony) Hurtgam, Carrie (Michael) Murray, Jay (Cassandra) Hurtgam, Kevin Schendel, Kelly (Clay) Fritsch, Jodie (Todd) Hess, Jennifer and Amy Schendel; her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Zachary, Emma, and Abigail; a sister-in-law, Norma (Norman) Seabert; and several nieces and nephews.
