    George C. Moden, 76, of Maple Ridge Road, Medina, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000 at the Medina Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.Born May 13, 1924 in Hartland, he was the son of the late Walter Moden and Edna (Bauer) Moden. He had been a lifetime resident of this area.Mr. Moden had operated the family farm with his father on Fruit Avenue. He later worked as a heavy equipment operator with B.R. DeWitt and finally retired from that company. He also had worked part-time for The Journal-Register.He was a life member and past president from 1955-1964 of the Ridgeway Fire Company. Mr. Moden was one of 12 graduating members of the Gasport High School Class of 1942. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Edith; his children, Dennis (Kimberly) Moden of Basom, Linda(Bruce) Blanc of Medina, Gail(Bill) Piskorowsk of Lyndonville and Jeff (Lynda)Moden of Cheektowaga; his brother. Jay (Gail) Moden of Hamlin; his sister, Janice(Stanley) Gillmeister of Nichols, N.Y.; half-brothers,Karl (Sue) Moden, Paul Moden and Scott (Roxanne)Moden, all of Medina; half sisters, Sharon (Larry) Farrow of Tennessee, and Beverly Nudd of Medina; stepmother, Florence Moden of Medina; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.He was predeceased by his brothers, Roy and Charles;and his half-brother, Wayne.Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Services will be 1 p.m.Tuesday at the funeral home.Burial will be in Millville Cemetery.Memorial contributions maybe made to either Orleans County Hospice or to the Ridgeway Fire Company.
