    John Fitch Succumbs to Long Illness
    John W. Fitch of 37 Lakewood Village, Medina, died Wednesday at Medina Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born July 21, 1901, in the Town of Newstead, he was the son of Jacob and Mary (Lindke) Fitch. He. had been a farmer for several years, a carpenter, had owned and operated a grocery store in Barker, and operated a trailer court in Barker for 14 years before his retirement in 1963. He was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, and the Wolcottsville Golden Agers. Mr. Fitch was the husband of Mabel Fitch, father of Mrs. Leslie (Marian) Sharpsteen of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Melvin (Dorothy) Jago of Wolcottsville, the Rev. Laverne Fitch of Smithville, Texas, and the late Gerald Fitch; brother of Mrs. Frederick (Lydia) Mante of Churchville, Mrs. Alice Reabold of East Aurora, and Mrs. Norman (Viola) Lindke of Middleport. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren, 10 foster sons and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call today (7-9) and Friday (2-4, 7-9) at the Bates, Wallace and Heath Funeral Home Inc., 38 State St., Middleport, and Saturday from 1 - 2 p.m. at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Glenn W. Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Bloomlngdale Cemetery, Akron. Memorials to St Michael's Lutheran Church would be appreciated by the family.

    Husband Arrested On Abandonment Charge
    Norman Lindke, 28, of Wolcottsville, was arrested Tuesday evening at Akron by Sheriff's Deputies Henry Becker and Hiram Bordwell on a warrant charging abandonment. He was remanded to Niagara county Jail in default of $1000 bail to await a hearing Friday, Aug. 29, before Peace Justice Mortimer O. Wilcox, Royalton. The warrant was issued late in July but deputies were unable to locate Lindke until Tuesday.

    Akron: Dorothy E. Jago, 95, passed away January 22, 2021. She was born March 16, 1925 in the Town of Newstead, a daughter of the late John and Mabel (Harrington) Fitch. Mrs. Jago was an active Member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wolcottsville and enjoyed reading the bible every day. Dorothy also enjoyed cooking, crafts, puzzles and watching In Touch Ministries with Dr. Charles Stanley. Dorothy’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin and sister Marian (Leslie) Sharpsteen.Mrs. Jago is survived by her children, George (Lois), Fred (Dorothy), Brenda (Lester) Bower and William (Darlene); grandchildren, Louann (Shawn) Tobin, Laura (Mike) Bishop, Kirk (Kay) Jago, Jennifer (David) Jago, Branden (Karrie) Bower and William (Catherine) Jago Jr.; 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and brother, Dr. Laverne (Karen) Fitch; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 28, from 12:00-1:00 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6369 Wolcottsville Rd.     Middleport Man Dies at Age 29
    Richard N. Lindke, 29 of 6663 Ditch Road, Middleport died Monday (Dec 12, 1966) in Doctor's Hospital, Tonawanda, after an extended illness. He was born Feb 28, 1937 in Medina, the son of Norman and Viola Fitch Lindke, now residing at the Middleport address. He was graduated in 1955 from Akron Central School. Mr. Lindke was employed for 9 years at the Ford Gum Co. in Akron. Besides his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Miss Karen Lindke of Buffalo, Mrs. Ronald (Deborah) Bower of Akron and Miss Bonnie Lindke, at home; a niece Teresa and his grandfather Martin Lindke. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rose Funeral Home, 32 John St., Akron.Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville, with the Rev.     MIDDLEPORT - Karen J. Pollworth of Middleport, passed away Monday evening, October 18, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Pollworth was born in Medina, NY, on April 4, 1947, daughter of the late Norman and Viola (Fitch) Lindke. Mrs. Pollworth has lived in Middleport since 1977 and was employed at Fisher Price. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and she enjoyed her family, antiquing, flower gardening, art and crafts including painting. She was an environmental activist and she also enjoyed cats. She was predeceased by a sister, Viola Lindke; and a brother, Richard Lindke. She is survived by her three children, Kyle Pollworth of Tennessee, Brian (Krystal) Pollworth of Gasport and Jennifer (Tony) Waldron of Indiana; two step-children, Jeffrey (Christina) Pollworth of Tennessee and Scott (Shari) Pollworth of S. Carolina; also surviving are six grandchildren, Justyn Pollworth of N. Carolina, Joseph Clark, Connor Pollworth and Liam Pollworth, all of Gasport, Kenneth Pollworth of Tennessee and Sean Pollworth of S. Carolina; two sisters, Bonnie (Alberto) Cicciarelli of Lockport and Deborah (Marvin) Frey of Middleport; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may all Thursday from 2-4 PM and 7- 9 PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Rt. 31, Middleport, NY, with the Rev. David Triplett officiating.     George M. Jago, age 77, died January 14, 2023 in his home following a brief illness.  He was born June 14, 1945 in the Town of Royalton to Melvin and Dorothy (Fitch) Jago and was a life-long resident of the area. 
     
    George was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of the New York State and National Trappers Associations as well as the NRA.  He loved to hunt, trap, and be outdoors.  One of his greatest joys however, was to be with his family as he was a loving husband and father. 
     
    He is survived by his wife of 50 years Lois, his daughters: Luann Tobin of Wrights Corners, Laura (Michael) Bishop of Lockport, his brothers: Fred (Dorothea) Jago of Wolcottsville, William (Darlene) Jago of Akron, his sister: Brenda (Les) Bower of Lockport, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
     
    The family will receive friends FRIDAY from 10-11am in Trinity Lutheran Church, 6369 Wolcottsville Rd., Akron, NY, 14001 where his Funeral Service will follow at 11am.  Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in the Spring.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.  George’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home of Middleport.  To share a special memory of George, please visit: www.mitchellfamilyfuneralhomes.com
