    Guido F. Fontanarosa, 93, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 19, 2021. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Pietro and Maria Fontanarosa; and beloved husband of Antoinette (Gagliardo) Fontanarosa, who he married at St. Joseph Church in 1950.
    Guido was raised in Niagara Falls and served in the United States Marines until his honorable discharge in 1947. Guido had a tireless work ethic and was a master stone mason. He began working as a bricklayer for many years prior to joining his son’s company, Fontanarosa Construction Company.
    Guido was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending numerous hunting seasons over the years at his cabin in the Southern Tier with his sons, grandchildren, nephews and friends. He also enjoyed tending to his garden, but above all, Guido’s life was centered around his beloved family who will miss him dearly.
    In addition to his wife of 70 years, Guido is survived by his children, Peter Fontanarosa, Paul (Susan) Fontanarosa and Mary (Daniel) McGovern; his daughter-in-law, Donna Fontanarosa; his grandchildren, David (Erika) Fontanarosa, Peter (Emily) Fontanarosa, Mia Fontanarosa, Samuel Fontanarosa, Gino Fontanarosa, Daniel (Christina) McGovern, Jr., and Austin McGovern; his great-grandchildren, Ava, Lou, Juliette, Alice, Lucy, Millie, Olivia Fontanarosa, and Daniel McGovern, III.; sister-in-law Theresa Gagliardo; brother-in-law Armando (Jeanette) Pucci; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings, Ennio (late Nevia) Fontanarosa, Mary (late Sam) Gullo, Ella (late Cosmo) Grizanti, Raffaela (late Archangelo) Frisina, Emily (late Joseph) Penque, Gino (late Mary) Fontanarosa, Alberto Fontanarosa, and an infant brother. He is also predeceased by his sisters-in-law, Josephine (late Anthony) Guetta, Yolanda “Patty” (late Robert Sr.) Hargrave, and his brother-in-law, Anthony Gagliardo.
    Guido’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the N.F. Memorial Medical Center, especially Alicia Scott and all of the wonderful nurses and aides on the third and second floor for the excellent care and compassion provided to Guido. Also, a sincere thank you to their extended family and friends for all of the love and support throughout the past few weeks.
    Visitation will be on Friday, July 23 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Guido’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 12:30 PM in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, followed by Military honors and entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery.     Susan A. Smith, 73, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 11th, 2018 at Northgate Manor. Born in North Tonawanda, NY, she was the loving daughter of the late Gino and Mary (Carbella) Fontanarosa. Susan attended local schools and graduated from the former LaSalle High School. On February 7, 1966 she married her beloved husband, Richard B. Smith at Prince of Peace Church. Susan was active in her children’s schools throughout their childhood years and worked as a Librarian at Niagara Catholic. She retired from Univera Health Care in 2006, after serving many years as an Administrative Assistant.Susan was a former President and member of the LaSalle Sportsman Club. Above all, Mrs. Smith’s life was devoted to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed. In addition to her husband of 52 years, Susan is survived by her children, Stacy (Donald Andres) Hoover and Adam Smith; her cherished granddaughter, Quinn Hoover; three siblings Anne (William) Lyon, Diane Sams and Peter Fontanarosa, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her best friend since the age of 13, Chris Burridge. She was also the sister-in-law of the late Kenneth (Mary) Smith, Gretchen (Paul) Brown, Robert (Mary Jane) Smith and William (Vicki) Smith.
    Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 – 8 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will be celebrated on Friday at 10 A.M.     Austin McGovern, 24, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on December 23, 2022. Raised in Lewiston, he was the loving son of Daniel and Mary (Fontanarosa) McGovern.
    Austin was a 2016 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School and obtained his Welding Certificate from NCCC. For the past three and a half years, he was employed by the Niagara Falls Water Board where he loved what he did, but loved his coworkers even more. This special group of friends became a second family to him. Prior to that, Austin worked at Coppins Service Center in Lewiston, always taking great pride in the new mechanical skills he learned from Jay.
    An avid outdoorsman, Austin enjoyed hunting, target shooting, four-wheeling, and off-roading in his Jeep. Austin and his dad worked on multiple projects together where he learned more about life and love than anything else.
    Austi shared a special bond with his grandparents; spending time with them was a constant in his life. He lived for the times spent with his family, especially with his brother Daniel, Christina and precious nephews, Danny and Mack.
    Austi will be greatly remembered for his kind soul and heart of gold. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten in the hearts of his beloved family and countless friends.
    In addition to his parents, Austin is survived by his brother, Daniel (Christina) McGovern, Jr.; his nephews, Daniel III and Mack McGovern; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Lucia McGovern; as well as several loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Guido and Antoinette Fontanarosa.
    Visitation will be Friday, December 30 from 3 – 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Austin’s Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Please assemble at Church. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
