    Obituary of Donald G. Kaufman

Donald G Kaufman of Lockport born in Alexandria, VA., August 13th 1938, passed away Tuesday March 15th in Hospice care at Millard Filmore. The son of George and Naomi Kaufman. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Rooney) Kaufman. Four children; Donald (Angela) Kaufman, Kevin Kaufman, Step-son Michael (Emily) Townsend, Step-daughter Kellie (Townsend) Neffke. Four grandchildren Jonathan Neffke, Kathryn (Matthew) Stawicki, Jacob & Dylan Townsend. Brother- in- law Paul (Carol) Rooney, Predeceased by siblings Shirely Mueller of Texas, Charles Kaufman of Albany, Barbara Buddenhaggen of Middleport and several nieces and nephews.  He also enjoys the company of his fur pups Piper and Rocky.
Don lived an active life. He was an avid sailor with the Niagara Yacht Club where he enjoyed many years of boating and held the prestige position of commodore.  An active member of the Lockport Exchange Club for 50 years, famously portraying Bucky the clown in the Kenan Center Circus. His prized possession was his award winning 1963 Studabaker Avanti which was on display weekly at Ida Fritz Park.
He was the proud owner of the Washburn St. Meat Market. On the 100th anniversary in 2013 he retired. I know he will be remembered for his after-hour deliveries, specialty orders, and obviously his beef on weck.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, March 20th from 1-4 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers donations are encouraged to People-Inc Foundation in the name of his son Kevin Kaufman, People-Inc Foundation, 1219 North Forest Rd., Williamsville, NY 14221 or at www.people-inc.org would be appreciated.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
