LICHT - Clarence H. "Clem" Age 89, of North Tonawanda, formerly of the City of Tonawanda, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 26, 2015, under the care of Hospice, surrounded by his family and his pastor. Clem married the former Ruby I. Mueller on August 7, 1948 and they celebrated their 66th Anniversary this past year. In addition to Ruby, he is survived by three children Jeffrey (Susan) Licht, Susan Cosentino and Amy (Edward) Baker; grandchildren Kelly (Daniel) Flynn, Elizabeth (Craig) Hooftallen, Timothy Licht and Andrea (Justin) Gentzke; great-grandchildren Hannah Flynn, John Hooftallen and Aidan Flynn; brother Alan (Jean) Licht and many beloved nieces and nephews. Friends may call Saturday, February 28 from 6-8 PM and Sunday, March 1 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St., (between Morgan and Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 2 at 10 AM in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd. in North Tonawanda. Friends invited. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church are appreciated by the family. Clem was born November 17, 1925 to Clarence and Margaret (nee Braeges) Licht in Tonawanda. He was baptized and confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tonawanda. After graduating from Tonawanda High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served during WW-II abroad the USS Kennebec in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. Clem always enjoyed recounting his experiences in the Navy. He attended RIT for Commercial Art before starting and serving as co-owner of L&M Television Store in the Tonawandas. He went on to become the Sales Manager for Gold Star Real Estate and later worked for 19 years as a District Representative for Aid Association for Lutherans, a Fraternal Benefit Society, before retiring in 1991. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda for all of his adult life, serving in a variety of leadership rolls. He was also the oldest member of Rescue Fire Company No. 5. Throughout his long life, Clem enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, traveling the country and camping vacations. He was an accomplished artist and wood carver and he loved writing poetry for special occasions. He enjoyed working in his garage and basement workshops, spending time with his family and friends, and was always there to help family with home repairs and projects.
