    Notes:

Jeannie Joan Becker, age 82, of Moorestown, NJ., passed away on April 28th, 2023 at her home with her husband by her side. Jeannie was born on January 5th, 1941 in San Diego, California to Henry Kuhns and Anna Marcovna Resnik. She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother when she was just 11 years old. As a naval officer, Jeannie served in the Pentagon on the CNO’s communication staff, and as education officer at a naval air station. She appeared in some recruiting films. After her time in the Navy, Jeannie raised her family, taught preschool and served as a radio host with WBZC, a station with Burlington County College, developing new programs (“Storyvine” and “Time Out for Jazz”) and interviews. After WBZC, she was the host of Princeton University’s WPRB’s "Sunday Morning Jazz," a weekly program, for over ten years, until about three years ago when she felt her progressive illness made her drives north to Princeton too risky. She dedicated herself to the program and the station, spending much of her week, at her computer, listening and preparing her playlist and planning interviews. Jeannie assembled a large collection of jazz recordings in the process of doing her shows. Jeannie graduated from San Diego State College where she received her degree in Psychology. She was an active member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church of Moorestown for over 40 years. The following is a quote from one of her colleagues at WPRB on hearing of her death: [Jeannie] will be remembered [there] never anyone kinder than Jeannie, more generous, more selfless, more beautiful. She was beloved by her listeners. When a Jewish person passes, it is tradition to say, "May her memory be a blessing." With Jeannie, there is no question that her memory shall always be a blessing.” Jeannie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wayne Becker, her son Matthew Becker and his partner Lisa Lechniak her son Aaron Becker and his wife Therese, her daughter Tanya Barnett and her husband Aaron, her daughter Anna Eisenberg and her husband Ross, and her son Andrew Becker. She is also survived by her sister Annette Ragsdale and her brother Arthur Kuhns. Jeannie had 6 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 at 12 pm, with visitation starting at 10:30 am till service time at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, located at 318 Chester Ave. in Moorestown, NJ. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
