    PHILIP BREITENBACH
    Philip Breitenbach, 78, of 96 Robinson St., died Wednesday in DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Germany, Mr. Breitenbach came to the U.S. when he was 12 years old and has since been a resident of the North Tonawanda area. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church of Wendelville. Surviving are five sons: Louis, Fred, Henry and Walter all of North Tonawnda, and John of the Town of Tonawanda, four daughters, Mrs. Benjamin Wendt of Sanborn, Mrs. Edward Pokelwaldt of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Kenneth Bayer and Mrs. Earl Bayer of Wendelville; 14 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; two brothers, Louis of the Town of Amherst and Adam of North Tonawanda; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Toellner of the Town of Amherst. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Hamp Funeral Home, 37 Adam St, the Rev. Karl Kindt officiating. Burial will be in Wheatfield cemetery.

    Louis P. Breitenbach, 97, of North Tonawanda, Thursday (July 21, 1994) at Hamlin Nursing Home. Mr. Breitenbach was born in Wheatfield and was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Rescue Fire Company #5, Volunteer Firemen's Benevolent Association of North Tonawanda, Electric City Lodge I.O.O.F., Salvation Army Golden Agers and the Tonawanda Senior Citizens. He was the husband of the late Almeda, Irene and Vera Breitenbach. Mr. Breitenbach is survived by his step daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Dolores) Wardell of North Tonawanda; one brother, John Breitenbach of Niagara Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Pokelwaldt of Niagara Falls and Mrs. Anna Wendt of Lewiston; also several nieces and nephews.     SANBORN - Anna M. (Breitenbach) Wendt, 92, formerly of Saunders Settlement Road, died Friday (July 21, 1995) in Fairchild Manor Nursing Home in Lewiston. She was born Dec. 9, 1902, in Wheatfield, the daughter of Phillip and Augusta (Behm) Breitenbach. She lived at her Saunders Settlement Road homestead in Sanborn for 63 years before moving into the nursing home. Mrs. Wendt attended Our Savior Lutheran Church in the Town of Niagara. She was a member of the Sanborn Senior Citizens. She enjoyed sewing and ceramics. Mrs. Wendt was the widow of the late Benjamin Wendt, who died in 1972. She is survived by two sons, Robert J. Wendt and Ronald P. Wendt, both of Sanborn; a daughter, Annette Stahl of Sanborn; a brother, John Breitenbach of Niagara FaJls; a sister, Katherine Pokelwaldt of Niagara Falls; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Louis Breitenbach, Walter Breitenbach, Frederick Breitenbach, Henry Breitenbach, Margaret Bayer and Else Bayer. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Wheatfield. The Rev. Gary Luderman will conduct services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Our Savior Lutheran Church, Military Road, Town of Niagara. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.     John H. Breitenbach, age 98, of Kenmore, NY, and also of Niagara Falls, NY, Sunday, January 12, 2003 at North Gate Manor Health Care Facility. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, he had been a resident of Kenmore for more than 55 years and of Niagara Falls from 1992 until 1999. He was the husband of Lauretta M. (nee Guinther) Breitenbach, who died in 1992 and was the son of the late Philip and Augusta Breitenbach. Mr. Breitenbach had been employed by National Grinding Wheel in North Tonawanda for 36 years, retiring in 1970 and was a member of Salem United Church of Christ. He is survived by his sister, Katherine Pokelwaldt of Lockport, NY. and was the brother of the late Louis, Frederick, Henry and Walter Breitenbach, Anna Wendt, Margaret Bayer and Elsie Bayer, also survived by many nieces and nephews.The family will receive relatives and friends on WEDNESDAY from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Salem United Church of Christ, 114 Morgan Street in Tonawanda, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. following the visitation.     9/12/2004 LOCKPORT - Catherine C. Pokelwaldt, a homemaker and a defense worker during World War II, died Thursday in Briody Health Care Facility after a long illness. She was 97.
    Mrs. Pokelwaldt was born Catherine Breitenbach in Wheatfield and raised in a farmhouse on the Amherst side of Tonawanda Creek. She lived most of her adult life in Niagara Falls, moving to Lockport at age 90. She had lived in the nursing home for more than a year.
    During World War II, she worked as a riveter, assembling airplanes at Bell Aircraft Corp. in Wheatfield.
    For most of her life she was a homemaker, enjoying what she called her "fancy work": knitting and crocheting, especially doilies and tablecloths.
    Her family said she was a fine baker, specializing in a sour cream cookie recipe handed down from her grandmother. She also enjoyed playing cards.
    Her husband of 43 years, Edward, died in 1970.
    Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Palmiter of Pendleton, Audrey Smith of Ransomville, Carol Burnsworth of Lockport and Beverly Blaise of Prospect Heights, ILl.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at noon Monday in Grace Lutheran Church, 736 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls. Burial will be in Wheatfield Cemetery.

Born in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, on September 6, 1923, Robert was 85 years old.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannette Rich Wendt; and his parents, Ben and Anna Wendt.He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Doris K. Wendt; his four daughters, Sandra Underwood of Shell Beach, CA, Nancy McIvor of North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY, Carol Haseley of Sanborn, NY and Susan Reiter of Marengo, IL; step-children, Linda Wilson of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, Gary Smith of Tampa, FL, Bonnie Melzer of Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his twin brother, Ronald P. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 6, 1923, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Anna (Brietenbach) Wendt. Ronald was employed as a plant engineer at National Grinding Wheel, North Tonawanda, until his retirement. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls. Ronald was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Loretta M. (Bernat) Wendt, on May 1, 2015.
    Survivors include a son, Peter (Cheryl) Wendt, and daughter, Amy Porrier; three grandchildren, Pamyla, Emily and Eric; and several great-grandchildren.
    Private graveside services will be held in Acacia Park Cemetery, with the family, with no prior visitation. Arrangements were with the DuBois Funeral Home.

    She was employed as First Deputy Chief Clerk for Niagara County Surrogate Court for 30 years, retiring in 1995. Annette married Reuben Stahl on October 7, 1950 and he was called home January 27, 1999. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451, and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, in the Town of Niagara, where she was active with the church clubs and choir. 
    Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Stahl of Bloom Field; a daughter, Lynne Diciocco of East Aurora; and a brother, Ronald Wendt of Rochester. Also predeceased by a brother, Robert Wendt. Visitation will be Sunday, January 22 from 2-7 PM at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Philip N. Sallach, on Monday at 11:00 AM in Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2759 Military Road, Town of Niagara. Interment will follow in Acacia Park Cemetery.

    Carol was a 1957 graduate of LaSalle High School and retired after 25 years of service from Harrison Division of General Motors in 1993.
    She was an accomplished artist in painting and ceramics, loved to garden and was an avid football fan, especially the Buffalo Bills. Carol loved life and her true enjoyment was to be around family and friends and make them laugh.
    Carol is survived by two daughters, Penny Colangelo and her spouse Kent, and Kim Burnsworth. Also surviving Carol are her two loving granddaughters, Genevieve and Aria Colangelo; her two sisters, Audrey Smith and Beverly Blaise; her niece Peggy Palmiter and partner Nancy Chandler; and nephew, Gary Palmiter.

    Shirley was well-known at the Lockport Schools Federal Credit Union where she worked for many years. She moved to Atlanta to be near her daughter and has been living with Peggy and her partner, Nancy Chandler, for the last two years.
    Shirley is survived by her son, Gary, of Wilmington Delaware; her daughter, Peggy; her sister, Audrey Smith of Ransomville, NY; her sister, Carol Burnsworth of Atlanta, GA; and her sister, Beverly Blaise of Chicago, IL.     Audrey M. Smith, age 87, of Ransomville wife of the late Ronald R. Smith entered into rest on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at home. Audrey was born March 5, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY. She is the daughter of the late Edward and the late Catherine Pokelwaldt. She married Ronald R. Smith on August 15, 1951 he predeceased on November 27, 2000. 
     
    Audrey was a homemaker all of her life where she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and the New York Yankees.
    She is survived by four sons: Robert (Sherri) Smith of Highlands, TX Gerald Smith of Ransomville, NY, Kenneth Smith (Angel McGinnis) of Ransomville, NY and Daniel (Beverly) Smith of Lockport, NY; her sister Beverly (Chuck) Blaise of Chicago, IL; sister in-law Barbara Mullins of Florida also ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    NORTH TONAWANDA — Judith A. Cribbs (nee Brietenbach), age 72, of North Tonawanda, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 in DeGraff Memorial Hospital.

    Mrs. Cribbs was born August 12, 1940 in North Tonawanda, daughter of the late Walter and Mabel (Mittlestaedt) Brietenbach. Mrs. Cribbs attended local schools and graduated from Starpoint High.

    She was a life member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. Mrs. Cribbs enjoyed bingo, shopping, ceramics and fishing with her husband.

    Beloved wife of Thomas Cribbs; devoted mother of Thomas Cribbs, Jr. and Cynthia (Herbert) Crossley, both of North Tonawanda; loving grandmother of Matthew and Kaitlynn Cramer; sister of Sharon (late Marvin) Liedy and Nancy (late Edward) Pipalski. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call MONDAY 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the WATTENGEL Funeral Home, 307 Oliver St., North Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Karl W.
