    Rose Margaret Mathew, 97, died on January 20, 2019 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello.

    She was born on September 15, 1921 in Buck Creek, IN to the late George S. E. Brown and Margaret P. M. (Kingma) Brown. On October 12, 1940 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Remington, IN, she married Louis Mathew; he passed away on January 13, 2007.

    Rose and her family moved to Stockwell, IN when she was young, living there until the age of twelve, and then moved to Wolcott, IN, where she had lived for 84 years. She moved into the White Oak Health Campus two years ago. Rose was the oldest of eleven children. She was a 1939 graduate of Wolcott High School. Rose was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was also a member of the Rosary and Altar Society of the church. She was also a member of the St. Joseph Church in Reynolds and was a past president of the former Tippecanoe Country Club Ladies Golf Association in Monticello. Rose and her late husband were dairy farmers of the Wolcott area from the beginning of their marriage. They spent many great times with all their family and also enjoyed happy hour at the Country Inn. Rose was very devout in her faith and had a special devotion to the Sacred Heart, St. Therese and the Rosary. She loved all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and was interested in all of their activities. The family wishes to give special thanks to Randy Bell for all the fish dinners, Carmen Anker for all the newsy notes, and all the staff at the White Oak Health Campus in Monticello, IN.

    Rose is survived by three children; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother; four sisters; two brother-in-laws; six sister-in-laws; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by four brothers, Norbert, Paul, Kenneth and Edwin Brown; one sister, Mary Bollier; seven brother-in-laws; and two sister-in-laws.

    Funeral will take place on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds with Father John Cummings of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Father David L. Rasner of the Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 PM on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Remington, IN.

    Rose married MATHEW, Louis Harold on 12 Oct 1940 in Remington, Jasper County, IN. Louis (son of MATHEW, Arthur Lawrence and BERGERON, Adeline Lillian) was born on 27 Apr 1918 in Wolcott, White County, IN; died on 13 Jan 2007 in Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, IN. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
