    H. W. Pokelwaldt Fatally Stricken
    TONAWANDA -Herman W. Pokelwaldt, 82, of 60 Cleveland Ave., died unexpectedly early today (Oct. 26, 1956) after suffering a heart attack at the Columbus-McKinnon Chain County, where he was employed. City firemen administered oxygen and took Mr. Pokelwaldt to DeGraff Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Born in Germany, Mr. Pokelwaldt formerly resided at Walmore before moving to this city 19 years ago. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Johnsburg. Surviving are his wife, Adelaide Winke (sic) Pokelwaldt; three sons, Irving Pokelwaldt, Lockport, Edward Pokelwalt, (sic) Niagara Falls, and Norman Pokelwaldt, North Tonawanda; a daughter, Mrs. Clara Haseley, Bergholtz; two stepsons, Arthur Schmeichel, Buffalo, and Wilbert Schmeichel; this city; a stepdaughter. Mrs. Donald Black. this city; a brother, Ferdinand Pokelwaldt, Medina; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Heinaman (sic), Buffalo. The Rev. J. Walter Theimeck will conduct services at. 2 p.m. Monday at the Ramp Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.

    Tonawanda - Mrs. Louise A. Pokewaldt, 66, died today at her home 60 Cleveland Ave. She was born in Germany, and had resided in the Town of Wheatfield, this city and North Tonawanda for the last 45 years. She is survived by her husband, Herman Pokelwaldt, at home; three daughters, Miss Greta Rosenau, at home. Mrs. Clarence Haseley, of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Albert Clark, of High Point, N.C ; four sons, Charles Rosenau, of High Point. N. C, Ervin Pokelwaldt, of Sanborn. N. Y., Edward Pokelwaldt, of Niagara Falls, and Norman Pokelwaldt, of North Tonawanda, 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the home and at 2:45 at St. John's church at St. Johnsburg. N. Y. The Rev. Walter Thiemecke will officiate. Interment will be in St. John's cemetery.

He was a native of Niagara Falls and had resided in the Sanborn area since 1920, where he had operated a farm. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Niagara Falls. He is survived by a son, Neil I. Pokelwaldt of Sanborn; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Jean) Coleman and Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Wray, both of Sanborn; a brother, Norman Poklewaldt (sic) of North Tonawanda; and a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Erma) Haseley of Bergholtz. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Edward Poklewaldt (sic). Funeral services will be at the Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Otto officiating. Burial will be in the Wheatfield Cemetery.     HASELEY-Irma L. (Pokelwaldt) Age 91 of Buffalo, formerly of Wheatfield, was called peacefully in her sleep on January 8, 2007 at the home of her daughter, Judith Haseley Brooks in Buffalo. Born in the Town of Wheatfield on February 28, 1915 to the late Herman and Helena (Wittkop) Pokelwaldt. Member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bergholz, and was an accomplished seamstress and cook. Beloved wife of the late Clarence R. Haseley, who died December 25, 1985. Survivors include three daughters: Lois A. (Donald) Walck of Lockport, Judith Haseley Brooks and Jean Haseley Wynes, both of Buffalo; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also pre-deceased by four brothers: William, Irving, Edward and Norman Pokelwaldt; and a sister, Olivia Pokelwaldt. Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Tuesday from 7-9 PM. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 AM in St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, corner Niagara Rd. and Rohr St. in Bergholz. Interment in St. James Lutheran Cemetery.     Neil I. Pokelwaldt of Sanborn, NY, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2020, in the Newfane Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.   He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 22, 1929, a son of the late Irving and Eleanor [Wendt] Pokelwaldt.
    Mr. Pokelwaldt graduated from Trott Vocational High School.
    He was a plant security guard at the East Delevan Chevrolet Engine Plant for over 20 years before retiring and operated his own farm.
    Mr. Pokelwaldt was an Exempt Member of the Sanborn Fire Company and  avid sportsman.
    He was the husband of the late Helen A. [Wilcox] Pokelwaldt .
    Mr. Pokelwaldt is survived by three daughters Deborah A. (late Patrick) Barry, Linda Pokelwaldt and Sharon R.(Neil) Harvey, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
    He was the father of the late Wesley Pokelwaldt and Neil Pokelwaldt, Jr., grandfather of the late Dean Barry,  brother of the late Jean (Ronald) Coleman and Ruth (Robert) Wray.
    His family will be present on Tuesday from 4-8 PM  at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY.

    Mrs. Coleman grew up on the family farm and graduated from North Tonawanda High School. She was a banquet manager for various hotels in the area, before retiring from the Holiday Inn in Amherst in 1986. After her retirement she traveled across the United States and wintered in Mesa, AZ.

    She was the wife of the late Ronald G. Coleman, they eloped on Christmas Eve, he passed away in August of 2000. Mrs. Coleman is survived by three sons William Coleman of Niagara Falls, NY, Richard (Brenda) Coleman of Sanborn and Douglas (Pam) Coleman of Niagara Falls, NY, five grandchildren Eric (Vanessa) Coleman, Devon (Steve) Ohol, Katie Coleman, Kelly (Adam) Serrano and Rachel Coleman, several great grandchildren, one brother of Neil (late Helen) Pokelwaldt, a brother-law Robert Wray, also several nieces and nephews. She was the great grandmother of the late Adriana Bradley and sister of the late Ruth Wray.

    Friends are invited to attend her funeral services on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Hope United Methodist Church, 2914 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn, NY, with Rev. Matthew Kofahl officiating.

    NOV. 24, 1936 -- SEPT. 5, 2004 Services for Ruth H. Wray, a former Sanborn resident who ran a restaurant in Sanborn and a ski shop in Lockport for many years, were held today in Hope United Methodist Church, Pekin.
    Mrs. Wray, who most recently lived in Saranac Lake and Springhill, Fla., died Sunday in her home in Saranac Lake after a long illness. She was 67.
    Born Ruth Pokelwaldt in Niagara Falls, she grew up Sanborn.
    She owned Western Restaurant in Sanborn with her husband, Robert E. She opened Snowflake Ski Shop in Lockport in 1968 and ran it until she retired in 1989. The shop is currently operated by her children.
    An accomplished downhill skier and a golfer and a world traveler, Mrs. Wray lived in Germany for two years. She spent her winters in Florida, returning to Ellicottville to ski, and her summers in Saranac Lake.
    In addition to her husband of 48 years, she is survived by a son, Robert A. of Cambria; three daughters, Bonnie J. Weidert of Sanborn, Terry L. of Springville and Susan R. Thompson of Montara, Calif.; a brother, Neil Pokelwaldt of Ransomville; a sister, Jean Coleman of Wilson; and nine grandchildren.

    Ruth H. Wray, of Saranac Lake, NY and Springhill, FL, died Sunday, September 5, 2004, at her home in Saranac Lake.

    She was born in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, November 24, 1936, the daughter of Irving and Eleanor [Wendt] Pokelwaldt. Mrs. Wray grew up Sanborn and later along with her husband ran the Western Restaurant in Sanborn for many years. She opened the Snowflake Ski Shop in Lockport in 1968 and operated the store until retiring 1989, the shop is still continues to be run by her children.

    She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 17, 1937, the daughter of the late Clarence and Irma [Pokelwaldt] Haseley.
    She leaves behind her loving husband, Donald D. Walck;  her daughters Deborah Gillespie, Donna  Walck (James Goodwin), and Doreen Morris (Michael);  grandchildren Danielle Witt (Matthew),  Adrienne Gillespie, Nicholas Goodwin, Thomas Goodwin, Lucas Goodwin, and Riley Morris; great grandson Wolf Witt; sister Judith Brooks (late Richard); sister-in-law Suzanne Milleville (late Roy); brother-in-law Darrell Walck (Maureen); and many other relatives and friends.
    Lois was the sister of the late Jean Wynes; daughter-in-law of the late Edwin and Frances Walck.
    Lois and Don celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary last November. They worked side by side running their farm, which for Lois included operating farm equipment and doing all the bookkeeping.
    She was a devoted lifelong Lutheran, was an exceptionally generous, kind person who loved spending time with her family. Lois and Don enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, and traveling to Florida and Australia. She was an avid bowler competing locally and nationally, winning numerous trophies. Lois made friends wherever she went and will be remembered as gracious, always having a smile on her face and bringing happiness to all who knew her. She loved taking many photographs and sharing them. Lois was a beautiful mother and extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by everyone!

Beloved sister of Judith Haseley Brooks (late Richard Brooks) of Buffalo, NY and Lois Ann (Donald) Walck of Lockport, NY; dear daughter of the late Clarence and Irma L. Haseley of Bergholtz, NY; dear aunt of Deborah Gillespie, Donna Walck (James Goodwin), Doreen (Michael) Morris and several great-nieces and nephews.
