EDWARD HARRIGAN

Of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Wednesday May 31, 2023, in Northgate Heath Care Facility.  He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on December 20, 1931, son of the late James and Gertrude [Swaim] Harrigan.
Mr. Harrigan was employed with Great Lakes Carbon for 37 years, retiring in 1992.
In his youth he was a boxer. He enjoyed spending time with his family at their camp in Greenwood and was an avid sportsman and Bills Fan.
He is survived by his wife Julia A. (Kilmer) Harrigan, children Brian (Michele) Harrigan, Patrick (Angie) Harrigan and Michele (Mark) Mergeler, grandchildren Andrew and Katie, great-grandchildren Jasmine and Elijah,  a sister Maryann Ivey, also several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late James, Francis, Michael, Thomas, George, David, Robert, Elenor Tickett, Patricia Eames and Janet Metro.
His family will be present Sunday from 2-6 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 1124 Ontario Avenue, NIAGARA FALLS, NY.
Everyone is invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Parish,  Prince of Peace Church, 1055 South Military Road Niagara Falls, NY.
Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Mary Ann Ivey Life Story

Mary Ann (Harrigan) Ivey, age of 91, passed away on May 6, 2024.  Born on January 26, 1933 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Gertrude (Swaim) Harrigan.  On November 6, 1954, Mary Ann married James M. Ivey.  He predeceased her on May 29, 2022.

Mary Ann was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. For over 30 years, she was employed as a waitress, mainly working for the Royal Chef and the Gooses Roost, along with others.  Mary Ann was a member of the Lewiston Seniors and enjoyed helping in the kitchen while there.

Mary Ann is survived by children, David (Darlene) Ivey and Maureen (Kenneth) Stonebraker; grandchildren, Christopher (Kara) Ivey and Jennifer (Anthony) DeVantier; great-granddaughter, Emily DeVantier; special niece and caregiver, Donna Dullen; sisters-in-law, Geraldine and Julie; brother-in-law, Fred; close friend, Patricia O'Connor and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by siblings, Eleanor, Patricia, Janet, James, Thomas, George, Michael, Francis, Edward, David, and Robert.

Private prayers of committal by Michael R. Goodlander and interment was held in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.  If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Schoellkopf Health Care Center and/or Niagara Hospice.

Francis Harrigan, 89 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on June 14, 2018 at Northgate Health Care Facility in North Tonawanda, NY.  Born January 22, 1929 in Highland Falls, NY he was the son of the late James and Gertrude (Swain) Harrigan.  He was married to the late Louise (Abbo) Harrigan of Niagara Falls who predeceased him on August 3, 2001.
Francis was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and attended local schools.  He worked at the International Paper Mill and later for Laborers Local No. 91 for several years until his retirement.  Francis will be remembered for his willingness to help anyone at any time. 
Francis is survived by his two children Daniel Harrigan of Niagara Falls and Denise (Anthony) Casilio of Wheatfield, three grandchildren Heather (Marc) Magliarditi, Tyler (Kelsey) Casilio both of Las Vegas, NV and Daniel (Kenya) Harrigan of Tonawanda; five great-grandchildren Arianna Magliarditi, Easton Magliarditi, Beckam Magliarditi, Aiden Harrigan and Logan Harrigan, a sister Maryann (James) Ivey and brother Edward Harrigan of Niagara Falls as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was also predeceased by his siblings, James Harrigan, Eleanor (late Alex) Ticket, Patricia (late Francis) Eames, George Harrigan, Michael (late Gloria) Harrigan, Thomas Harrigan, David (late Dolores) Harrigan, Janet (Fred) Metro and Robert (Gerri) Harrigan.
Mr. Harrigan’s family wish to thank the nurses and staff of Northgate Healthcare Facility for the loving, compassionate care given to Francis during his stay.  We greatly appreciate it and will never forget.  Thank you.

Patricia Eames, age 90 of Lewiston, died Thursday July 7, 2016 in the Schoellkopf Health Center in Niagara Falls, NY after a brief illness.


Patricia was born February 26, 1926 in Newburgh, NY, the daughter of the late James M. and Gertrude (Swaim) Harrigan and moved to Niagara Falls when she was 5 years old. Patricia was a 1944 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and was a Telephone Operator at NY Telephone for 34 years retiring in 1980. She married Edward F. "Curly" Eames on April 24, 1970 and they moved to Lewiston in 1990. Curly predeceased her in 2012.


Patricia was a communicant of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston. She enjoyed traveling and being with her family and friends.



She is survived by her siblings; Edward (Julie) Harrigan, Francis (late Louise) Harrigan, Maryann (James) Ivey all of Niagara Falls, NY, and Robert (Geraldine) Harrigan of Lewiston; a brother in law, Fred Metro and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor Tickett and Janet Metro; and five brothers, Michael, James, Thomas, David, and George Harrigan.


Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston ON Sunday from 2 - 5 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St. Lewiston on Monday, July 11, at 10:00 am. (Please assemble at Church). Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston. Flowers are gratefully declined. A Niagara Falls man was killed and a Buffalo
man seriously injured shortly before midnight Thursday
in an explosion in a chemical tank truck in the
Town of Tonawanda.
David John Harrigan, 24, of 17 D
Packard Court, was killed.
Charles Enoch, 27, of 107 Argus
St., Buffalo, is in Kenmore Mercy Hosoital
with multiple burns. His condition
was reported as serious at the hospital
today.
The men were employed as tank
HARRIGAN truck cleaners. The tank t r u c k was
parked at the Leaman Transportation and Chemical
Tank Lines Co., 318 Sawver Ave. Town of Tonawanda
police today had not learned the cause of
the explosion. Several local fire companies battled
the fire which the explosion touched off in the
company's one-story masonry building, police said.
Mr. Harrigan, a chemical operator, was born in
this city and resided here all his life.
Surviving are his wife, Delores Harrigan; a son,
David J. Harrigan Jr.; a daughter, Patricia Harrigan;
his mother, Mrs. Gertrude Harrigan; five brothers,
James, Michael, Robert, Edward and Francis Harrigan,
all of this city; four sisters, Miss Janet Harrigan,
Mrs. Patricia Dugan, Mrs. Mary Ivey, all of this city,
and Mrs. Eleanor Tickett,- Lewiston.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. at the Otto Redanz
Funeral Home and at 9:30 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
Church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Janet (Harrigan) Metro, 69, of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY died on Wednesday March 26, 2008 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY she was the daughter of the late James and Gertrude (Swaim) Harrigan. On October 30, 1965, Janet married Fred J. Metro at Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY.Janet was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. At the age of sixteen, she began a thirty four year career at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, retiring as supervisor of their Corner Shop. Janet was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America (ISDA) Power City Lodge #158 in Niagara Falls. She enjoyed playing Bingo and the lottery, including scratch off tickets. Most of all, Janet will be remembered for her generosity, and love of family and friends with whom she enjoyed spending time with.In addition to her husband of forty two years, Mrs. Metro is survived by one daughter Donna M. (Paul) Dullen of Lewiston, Niagara County, NY; one son John D. ROBERT JOHN HARRIGAN

On Wednesday, September 21, 2016, Robert John Harrigan, with family by his side, passed away peacefully. The youngest of 12 children born in 1941, son of James and Gertrude Harrigan, Robert grew up in the City of Niagara Falls, New York. He was naturally athletic and earned the nickname "Lynx", like the fast mountain cat, that stayed with him throughout his life and now goes to heaven with him. As a teenage Irish lad in the 1950's, he would learn to be a bricklayer having been taught by great mentors who became lifelong friends. He was proud of being a member of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftsman Union Local #3 in Buffalo. Many of the buildings that stand in Western New York he helped build, too many to name here, but include the Convention Center, Power Project, Fatima Shrine, and St. Peter's RC Church that he attended each Sunday.


In 1962 he married Geraldine Syracuse and they would have three children that they raised in Lewiston, NY. He is survived by his wife; children, Cindy (William III) Berard, Mark (Francesca) Harrigan, and Dr. Paul Harrigan; his grandchildren, Rachel, Geri Lynn, Anne, and William IV Berard, Kayleigh and Emily Harrigan; his siblings, Edward (Julie) Harrigan, Francis (late Louise) Harrigan, Maryann (James) Ivey; brother in law Fred Metro; sister in law, Maxine (James) Casey; and several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by sisters, Patricia Eames, Eleaner Tickett, and Janet Metro; brothers, Michael, James, Thomas, David, and George Harrigan; his parents, James and Gertrude Harrigan. He will always be remembered as a good, decent, hardworking and honorable man; a man who loved his family and an avid golfer. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 27, at 9:30 am in St. Peter RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston with the Rev. Msgr. David G. LiPuma officiating.
