A Niagara Falls man was killed and a Buffalo
man seriously injured shortly before midnight Thursday
in an explosion in a chemical tank truck in the
Town of Tonawanda.
David John Harrigan, 24, of 17 D
Packard Court, was killed.
Charles Enoch, 27, of 107 Argus
St., Buffalo, is in Kenmore Mercy Hosoital
with multiple burns. His condition
was reported as serious at the hospital
today.
The men were employed as tank
HARRIGAN truck cleaners. The tank t r u c k was
parked at the Leaman Transportation and Chemical
Tank Lines Co., 318 Sawver Ave. Town of Tonawanda
police today had not learned the cause of
the explosion. Several local fire companies battled
the fire which the explosion touched off in the
company's one-story masonry building, police said.
Mr. Harrigan, a chemical operator, was born in
this city and resided here all his life.
Surviving are his wife, Delores Harrigan; a son,
David J. Harrigan Jr.; a daughter, Patricia Harrigan;
his mother, Mrs. Gertrude Harrigan; five brothers,
James, Michael, Robert, Edward and Francis Harrigan,
all of this city; four sisters, Miss Janet Harrigan,
Mrs. Patricia Dugan, Mrs. Mary Ivey, all of this city,
and Mrs. Eleanor Tickett,- Lewiston.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. at the Otto Redanz
Funeral Home and at 9:30 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
Church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
