    CARL, W. WITTKOPP
    DANSVILLE - Carl W. Wittkopp, 82, of Dansville died January 10, 1981, in Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility, Geneseo, following a long illness. A native of Niagara Falls, he was a retired salesman for the Duncan Ford Motor Agency, Niagara Falls. He had lived in Dansville for the past two years. Survivors are his wife. Mrs. Norma Tyrill Wittkopp; two daughters, Mrs. Joan Vance of Craig, Col. and Mrs. Janet Cannon of Nunda; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Funeral services are at the convenience of the family with burial in Victoria Lawn Cemetery, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.

    Carl married TYRILL, Norma Louise on 6 Mar 1925 in St Catherines, Lincoln Township, Ontario, Canada. Norma (daughter of TYRILL, William Walter) was born on 22 Sep 1901 in Canada; died on 15 May 1997 in Canton, St Lawrence County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Albert C. Wittkopp; brother of Carl of
    this city. Private funeral services will be
    held from Dykstra Bros, Funeral Parlors

    Locked In a cell at police headquarters
    on a disorderly charge last night,
    Louis Wittkopp, 21 years old, 1506 Linwood
    avenue, .hanged himself with his
    belt.. His body was found dangling
    from the bars of his cell at 11:30 o'clock
    last night by Patrolman Anson Lalone
    when the officer made a round of the
    cell room on the first floor to look over
    the prisoners. Lalone cut. the belt
    with his knife, releasing the youth, but
    Wittkopp was dead.
    Wittkopp had been arested at 5:30
    o'clock yesterday afternoon by Patrolman
    Raymond Confer. With him was
    arrested his father, Albert C. Wittkopp,
    52 years old, also of 1506 Llnwood avenue.
    Confer said the father and son
    had been fighting on the street at
    Pierce avenue and Fifteenth street and
    had been creating a disturbance. Resi
    Residents

    of the neighborhood had complained
    to police.
    When young Wittkopp ended his life
    his father occupied the cell next to
    his. The elder Wittkopp was asleep
    when Lalone discovered his son's body.
    Awakened by the comotion that resulted
    in the discovery of. his son's
    lifeless form hanging from the cell
    bars, the father sensed that something
    was wrong and asked police if his son
    had ended his life. They magnanimously
    assured him that he had not and
    removed the father to a cell on the
    upper floor, detaining him in headquarters
    all. night as a precaution for
    his own safety.
    Coroner W. L. Draper said that young
    Wittkopp had been dead only a short
    time when discovered by Lalone. The
    body was sent to the Dykstra funeral
    chapel to be prepared for burial. Besides
    his father, young Wittkopp is
    survived by a bother, Carl, this city.
