Haseley Death Ruled Accidental; Police Don't Know Who Fired Shot
An Allegany County Coroner has ruled the death yesterday of an elderly Niagara Falls man as accidental but state police still do not know who fired the shot which killed 78-year-old Rudolph A. Haseley. The body of Mr. Haseley, who was a machinist, is being returned to Niagara Falls today, and funeral services will be helf Friday.
Survivors of the eight-man hunting party were to return to Niagara Falls today from Centerville in Northern Allegany county. One of the group, John Hollinsworth. 2215 Linwood Avenue was a member of a similar party when Mr. haseley's relative. Myron Haseley. was killed in the same area. Ironically, the accident happened November 25, 1947, just five years ago today. Another member of the party, George W. Piche. 1026 North Mililary road, found Rudolph Haseley. Because the bullet passed completely through the body, state police were unable to determine the size of the slug and are hampered in discovering if a member of the Haseley party or other hunters fired the fatal shot. Dr. H. K. Hardy, Allegany county coroner, said Mr. Haseley died of internal bleeding.
A son Arnold Haseley survives, as do two brothers Fred & Amos Haseley, and two sisters, the Misses Lucy and Rose Blumreich, all of this city. Mr. Haseley retired from the Titanium Alloy division of the National Lead Company after 32 years employment and then worked for Industrial Welding company. He was a native of Walmore, N.Y.
and lived in Niagara Falls 52 years. Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Gridley Funeral home and at 2:30 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church with the Rev. Leonhardt Ludwig officiating. Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery.

Amos A. Haseley, 83, of 1657 Niagara Ave., a retired Union Carbide Corp. electrician, died today (March 29, 1961) at Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A native of Walmore, Mr. Haseley made his home here for 61 years. He retired from the Union Carbide Corp. in 1951 after 47 years of service with the firm and was employed for seven years by the International Cooperage Co. Mr. Haseley was a charter member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was a member of St. Paul's Brotherhood, the Golden Age Club, and Niagara Falls Lodge No. 81, IOOF. Farmer Accidentally Falls Into Well and Is Drowned
Adolph Schroeder, Well Known Upper Mountain Road Resident, Believed to Have Been Seized with Dizzy Spell; Straw Hat Leads to Discovery of Body
Believed to have been seized with a dizzy spell, Adolph Schroeder, 54, fell into a well on his farm on the Upper Mountain road, a short distance west of the Baker hill, early yesterday afternoon, and drowned. It was not until several hours later that the fate of the man was learned. The discovery of his straw hat, floating on the surface of the water in the well, led to the location of his body. Following lunch yesterday, several farmhands, employed by Mr. Schroeder, left for the fields on the farm to resume work. Their employer promised to follow as soon as he watered the horses to be used in working the crops. When several hours passed and Mr. Schroeder failed to appear, search was instituted for him. With the location of the body, Coroner J. E. Helwig was summoned. The sheriff's office in Lockport was notified and deputies were detailed to take the body from the well. Mr. Schroeder's watch stopped at 12:45 o'clock, indicating that he fell into the well at that time. Dr. Helwig had the body removed to Pike's mortuary in Sanborn to be prepared for burial. Mr. Schroeder was one of the best known farmers on the Upper Mountain road. He is survived by a daughter, Margaret, at home. Mr. Schroeder lived with a brother, John, besides his daughter. Others surviving are a brother, Charles, of Byron; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Broker of North Tonawanda and Mrs. Irene Millenthine of Lewiston and his stepmother, Mrs. Paul Schroeder of Niagara Falls.

Sanborn-William F. Lange, 77, a retired farmer, died at his home, Walmore Rd., Town of Wheatfield, today (March 18, 1960).
Born in Wheatfield Sept. 4, 1882, the son of Frederick and Ida Haseley Lange, he had resided in this vicinity all his life.
Mr. Lange owned and operated his Walmore Rd. farm for more than 40 years, retiring about 15 years ago due to ill health. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore.

SANBORN - Gustave A. Haseley, 75, formerly of 5983 Walmore Road, Lewiston, died Thursday (Dec. 17, 1970) in Ransomville General Hospital after a long illness. He was born in the Town of Wheatfield and was a farmer all his life. He is survived by one brother, Louis Haseley of Akron, N.Y., and several nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Harold L. Baum officiating. Walter Moll Dies of Burns
Walter Moll, 25, of 986 Falls boulevard died at 10 o’clock this morning at DeGraff Memorial hospital, where he was removed yesterday morning after receiving fatal burns, while working on the Niagara Falls boulevard widening job in the Wurlitzer section.
Moll was filling the gasoline tank of a concrete mixer, when the gas is believed to have become ignited from the exhaust of the mixer, which was running at the time. The accident occurred almost in front of his home.
The young man’s clothing was set afire and his body was completely enveloped before the flames were extinguished.

Elenor (Haseley) Yarrington, formerly of Niagara Falls, died on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was 91. She was born in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY on June 3, 1917, a daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Reafsall) Haseley. She attended area schools. Mrs. Yarrington retired as a library clerk from the former LaSalle High School in 1979. Prior to the Niagara Falls Board of Education, she worked for the Niagara Falls Housing Authority. While living in Niagara Falls, she was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church for many years. An avid camper, she also belonged to the National Campers and Hikers, Niagara Camping and Apple Pushers Campers. She was a member of the Fire Bells and during WW II the Air Raid Wardens. She enjoyed craftwork and making Christmas socks for her family and friends, craft shows, time with her grandson, Patrick, traveling with her family, especially the annual trips to Cedar Point. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (William) Butler of Columbia, SC; her grandson, Patrick Butler; and a cousin, Candace Frerk of Tonawanda. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Norman Yarrington in December 1991. NIAGARA FALLS - Arnold F. Haseley, 63, of 4815 Lafayette Circle, died Friday (March 14, 1975) in Memorial Medical Center after a short illness.
Mr. Haseley was a native of Niagara Falls and was traffic manager for the National Lead Co. where he worked for the last 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army band during World War II.
He had been a musician playing trumpet with the Vaughn Monroe, Buddy Rogers and Willard Alexander orchestras. He was the past president of the Niagara Falls Traffic Club and was a member of' the Buffalo Transportation Club.
Mr. Haseley is survived by his wife, Mildred Clarke Haseley and an Aunt, Mrs. Tena Baird of this city. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. J. David Mumford will officiate. Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery.

Laura Ruth Payne, age 103, of Lockport, formerly of Hartland, entered into rest on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport surrounded by her loving family. Born August 5, 1912 in Cambria, Laura is the daughter of the late Rudolph and Minnie (Seelow) Schrader.
Laura married Chester J. Payne on April 24, 1930 in Cambria by Reverend Woodward. Mr. Payne died October 13, 1982.
Laura greatly enjoyed Bingo and had many lifelong friendships. She liked to crochet and made beautiful gifts for her family and friends. Her memory was vivid and she never failed to remember family events and happenings.
Surviving Laura are her dear children, Roger (the late Karen) Payne of Appleton, Loretta (Douglas) McCanty of Florida, Joan (John) Thompson of Lockport, Patricia (John) Chambers of Florida, Kathleen (Terry) Payne of Lyndonville, Bruce (Sue) Payne of Gasport, Chester (Nancy) Payne of Middleport and James (Nicole) Payne of Barker and the late Eugene and Evalyn Payne. MELLENTHIEN – Robert F. Mellenthien, 63 of 230 Ward Rd., North Tonawanda, suddenly Tuesday (Nov. 13, 1973). Mr. Mellenthien was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, former elder of the Church and the Lutheran Layman’s League.

He is survived by his wife, Leona Mellenthien ; a son, Robert F. Gertrude H. Krull, age 91, at ElderWood Health Care at Wedgewood, Amherst, formerly of Wheatfield, was called to her heavenly home on November 7, 2014. Born on April 20, 1923 in the Town of Wheatfield, she was the daughter of the late William and Esther (Walck) Lange.

Gertrude was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Pekin, a former county elections inspector, baked special occasion cakes, enjoyed needlecrafts, playing cards and bingo.

Predeceased by her husband, Elwood Krull in 1987; a son, Gerald Krull in 1957; and brother, Norbert Lange. William G. Lange, age 94 of Wheatfield, NY, was called to his heavenly home on November 16, 2019 at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY. Born in the Walmore area of Niagara County, NY, he was the son of the late William F. and Esther (Walck) Lange. Bill graduated from St. Peter's Lutheran School in Walmore, Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls, and Valparaiso Technical Institute in Indiana, where he received a degree in electrical engineering. Bill began work at Colonial Radio in Buffalo, NY, followed by employment at Bell Aerospace Textron in Wheatfield, for 40 years as an electrical engineer, and he designed the microgravity accelerometer. After retirement at Bell, he became president of Canopus Products in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he worked for five years developing the microgravity accelerometer used on the Space Shuttle, and the International Space Station. Later, Bill served as a consultant to Spectrum Astro in Gilbert, Arizona for several years. He was inducted into the Niagara Frontier Aviation and Space Hall of Fame in May 2012. After retirement, Bill enjoyed building and flying radio controlled airplanes, with his son David. He also collected models of military planes, enjoyed reading history novels, watching the History Channel, and cheering for the Pirates and Steelers.
Bill was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walmore, and served his church as Sunday School Superintendent, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Elder, and Co-Chairman of the church's new entrance building committee.
Bill married Shirley Walck in 1949, and she preceded him in death in March 1989. They were blessed with four children, Kathleen (Rev. David) Beutel, David (Barbara) Lange, Steven (Sandra) Lange, and Brian (Leslie) Lange. Survivors also include his wife, Nancy I. (Mueller-Baum) Lange; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Alice Lange.
He was also preceeded in death by an infant son, Bradley; a brother, Norbert, and two sisters, Gertrude (Elwood) Krull, and Eleanore (Norman) Moll.
Visitation will take place in St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church of Walmore, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY 14132, on Saturday, November 23 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the meeting room located in the new entrance. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the church. A private interment will follow after the service, in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Funeral arrangements are being handled through the DuBois Funeral Home.

TOWN OF WHEATFIELD — Norbert G. Lange, 78, a lifelong resident of the Town of Wheatfield, was called to his heavenly home, after a brief illness, on December 16, 2010. He was born on June 5, 1932 to William and Esther Lange.

Norbert graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1950 and the University of Buffalo, School of Engineering, later earning his Professional Engineering License. He started his professional career at Stauffer Chemical and continued at Occidental Petroleum and at Wendel Engineering, where he was a principal. He was also a part-time engineering professor at NCCC.

He was awarded two patents by the United States Patent Office while employed by Occidental. Norbert never retired and continued the love for his profession as construction manager of Calspan, Niagara Falls Airport, Adams Fire Company Hall No. 2, Wheatfield and the WNY Breast Health Center, Amherst. He also built several private hangars at the Niagara Falls Airport and had his private pilot license.

A lifelong member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Norbert served as past President and Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his loving wife, Alice (Milleville) Lange of 58 years; four children, Keith (Wendy) Lange of the Town of Wheatfield, Marsha Dixson of Saline, MI, Karen (Merwan) Mereby of Denville, NJ and Gregory (Barbara) Lange of the Town of Wheatfield; two sisters, Eleanor Moll and Gertrude Krull, both of the Town of Wheatfield; a brother, William (Nancy) Lange of Grove City, PA; eight grandchildren, Scott (Denise), Jeffrey (Jaime) and Aaron (fiancee Joelle) Lange, Shawn and Deanna Dixson, Sarah and Stephen Mereby, Austin Lange; four great-grandchildren, Marissa, Matthew, Bridgette and Abigail Lange; several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present Saturday from 5-9 PM and Sunday from 1-4, 7-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls. Funeral services will be held Monday 11 AM in St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY 14132. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Mrs. Haseley, 44, Dies in Buffalo
SANBORN - Mrs. Myra H. Haseley, 44, of Saunders Settlement Rd., died today (April 5, 1956) in Rosewell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo, after a long illness.
Born in the Town of Wheatfield July 10, 1911, Mrs. Haseley was the daughter of the late George A. and Helena Lang (sic) Haseley. She was a member of St. Peter's Church, Walmore. She is survived by her husband, Norman W. Haseley; two sons, Harold N. and Duane A. Haseley; a daughter, Marie E. Haseley; and an aunt, Miss Ella Haseley, all at home; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the home after noon Friday. Funeral services will be conducted at the home at 2 p.m. Sunday and at 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Church by the Rev. Martin Pempeit.
