    MIDDLEPORT, N. Y. - Matilda Pfohl, wife of Ferdinand Pfohl died yesterday at her home in the Hasely (sic) road. Wolcottville. She leaves, besides her husband, one daughter, Mrs. George Marks, of Wolcottsville, three grandchildren, one great grandchild, and two brothers, William and, Philippineslip Williams, of Wallmore (sic). Funeral Services will be held tomorrow at 2 o'clock at the home and at 2:30 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran cemetery

    Middleport- Mrs. Esther Marcks died unexpectedly at her home, 6350 Wolcottsville Rd, Wolcottsville. Born June 15th 1898, in the Town of Royalton, she was the daughter of Ferdinand and Mathilda Williams Pfohl. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville. Her husband, George F. Marcks died in 1964, and a son Richard died in 1952. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs Fred Hill of Medina, Mrs Joseph Lydston, and Mrs Joseph Licata both of Lockport, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Friends may call today and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. at the Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State Street, and Tuesday from 1 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church where services will be held Tuesday at 2 PM. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Wolcottsville.

    ROBERT W. WERTH
    Robert W. Werth, age 73, of Town of Niagara, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a lengthy illness. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY on March 13, 1934 to the late Edwin and Hulda (Pfuhl) Werth. He was a life long member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church in Walmore, where he was President of the Church Council. Bob played in several local marching bands including the American Legion, Sanborn Fire Co., and the Bergholz German Band. His hobbies and interests included fishing, traveling with the Bergholz German Band and getting together with friends to play dominos and euchre. Bob is a U.S. military veteran, member of the American Legion, Town of Niagara Lions Club and the Sanborn Lions Club. He was employed at the former Marine Midland Bank in Sanborn (sic) and was later employed as an accountant at the N.F. Air Force Base retiring in 1986. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Dolores (Krull) Werth; a son, Michael Werth of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a daughter, Cheryl Werth (Troy Harrison) of North Tonawanda; step-brother, Russel (sic) Goeske (sic) of Niagara Falls; stepmother, Eleanor Craft of Sanborn; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Werth. Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Services will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 AM in St Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, with the Rev. Bruce Gamaché' officiating. Interment in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.     RANSOMVILLE - A 20-year-old nurse's aide, en route to work at Ransomville General Hospital, was killed Tuesday when the car in which she was riding slammed into a telephone pole in Balmer Road near here. Miss Betty Helen Werth, 20, of 2683 Lockport Rd., Sanborn, was pronounced dead on arrival at Ransomville General Hospital. She suffered internal injuries, a fractured skull and broken neck.
    The driver, John W. Sagar. 19, of 1788 Balmer Rd., Ransomville, was charged by sheriff's deputies with driving at a speed not reasonable or prudent. He was treated for shock at the hospital. This was the 10th traffic fatality in county roads this year compared to 21, this time last year.

    Asked For Ride
    Authorities said Miss Werth had asked Sagar for a ride to work because she had car trouble. Deputies Clayton Schultz, Louis Reale and Sgt. James Faery said Sagar told them he was driving east in Balmer Road and was late for work. He is an orderly at the Ransomville hospital. The report said Sagar was driving 70 miles an hour when he stepped on the brakes to a slow down. The car went out of control, careened across the road, struck the utility pole and ended up in a plowed field. The mishap occurred about 3:05 p.m.
    Miss Werth was a graduate of St. Peter's elementary day school and Niagara Wheatfield Central High School.

    Gladys E. Hill, of Medina, passed away on Monday evening, September 29, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Hill was born in Wolcottsville, July 18, 1923, a daughter of the late George F. and Esther L. (Pfohl) Marks. On September 22, 1956, she married Fred W. Hill and she was a long time Medina resident. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by Harrison Radiator Division of GMC for 14 years and later by the Medina Central School District, as a teacher’s aide for 11 years, assisting in the elementary reading lab. She retired in 1981.An active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York, she served as a Past Senior Warden and Deanery of the Sunday school at St. John’s Church. She was a licensed Lay Reader, Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Vestry and choir and was active in the Episcopal Cursillo community. Mrs. Hill was a long time member of the Medina Tuesday Club and the Book Discussion Group at Lee-Whedon Memorial Library. She enjoyed square dancing, golf and traveling.Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Fred W.; three children, Mark D. Hill, Gary G. (Marlene) Hill, both of Medina and Marjorie Ellen (Ronald) Robison of Hilton; seven grandchildren, Tammy and Kristie Robison, Rhonda Cavanaugh, David and Danny Hill, Matthew and Andrew Bishara; two great grandchildren, Rachel Jean Daly and Clay Frederick Daly; two sisters, Ruth (Joseph) Lydston and Shirley Licata, both of Lockport; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara L. Bishara, on January 26, 2004.Friends may call on Thursday (4-8 PM) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. A funeral service with Holy Eucharist will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Friday at 11 AM. The Very Reverend Edson M.     Ruth Shirley Lydston passed away Monday April 25, 2016 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born in Wolcottsville on July 4, 1937, she was the daughter of the late George and Esther Pfohl Marks. Ruth worked at A & P Grocery and also at Harrison Radiator. She enjoyed shopping, playing cards, especially solitaire; she was also a member of the Rapids Seniors.

    Ruth is survived by her husband, Joseph E. Lydston; her children Jeffrey Lydston, Michael (Colleen) Lydston, Linda (Charles) Nightingale and Sheri Lydston-Howard. Grandmother of Christopher, Kevin, Zachary, Morgan, Sean, Stephen and Jessica; great grandmother of Madelyn Ruth and Reign. Ruth was the sister of Shirley Licata and the late Richard Marks and Gladys Hill. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call Wednesday April 27th 4-8 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, where services will be held Thursday morning at 11 AM. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, P.O. Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240, would be appreciated by the family.
