    WALMORE June 21 - The funeral of Mrs John Pfohl, 70, of the Walmore Road was held held Tuesday afternoon at St Peter's Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband John and nine children, Rev. John Pfohl of North Freedom. Wisc. Sigmund Pfohl, Niagara Falls. Mrs. Philip Kroening. Mrs Jonas Haseley. Mrs. Marcus Haseley, all of Sanborn. Louis, Max, Eleonore and Mrs. Mervin Haseley, at home. The bearers were Hubert Pfohl, Rudolf Walck, William Walck, Philip Haseley, Eric Haseley, and Harvey Haseley. The flower bearers were Rudolph Kroening, Herman Kroening, Esther Kroening and John Haseley. The Rev. Edward Grabau officiated. Burial was in Walmore cemetery.

    SANBORN - Mrs. Minnie Kroening, 79, of 3056 Lockport Road died Wednesday (Jan. 3, 1979) in Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
    A lifelong resident of Sanborn, she was a longtime member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore and a member of the American Lutheran Church Woman of St. Peter's. She was predeceased by her husband Philip W. Kroening, who died in 1972.
    Survivors include two sons, Rudolph Kroening of Niagara Falls and Herman Kroening of Sanborn; daughter, Mrs. Donald (Esther) Schneck of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; two brothers, Max and Louis Pfohl both of Sanborn; four sisters, Mrs. Jonas (Martha) Haseley, Mrs. Mervin (Verone) Haseley, Mrs. Marcus (Lizzie) Haseley, Mrs. Raymond (Eleonore) Craft, all of Sanborn, nine grandchildren five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Sigmund and John Pfohl.
    Funeral services will be a held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
    Friends will be present at the Rhoney Funeral Home, Sanborn from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the St. Peter's. Evangelical Lutheran Church fund, the family said.

    Sanborn - Sigmund J. Pfohl 66, of 2115 Lockport Rd died Wednesday May 29, 1968 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Sanborn and had been employed as a stock clerk at the Carborundum Co. He was a member of St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walmore Road.

He attended Niagara falls High School and graduated from Martin Luther Seminary in Buffalo, Erie County, NY in 1928. His first pastorate was at Random lake, WI. He served for 22 yrs. in Leland, WI and has been at Loyal since 1955.
    Survivors include his wife Cordelia Leuder Pfohl, a daughter, Mrs James Unmacht, Dubuque, Iowa, two sons, Ronald and Harold at home, three brothers, Sigmund of Niagara Falls, Louis & Max of Sanborn, five sisters, Mrs Philip Kroening, Mrs. Jonas Haseley, Mrs. Mervin Haseley, and Mrs. Marcus Haseley all of Sanborn, and Mrs. Gilbert Goeseke of Akron, Erie County, NY, and two grandchildren.     Pastor John G. Pfohl, 55, of Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal, WI., died suddenly of a heart attack on Nov. 2. He had a serious attack in the spring but had seemingly recovered and had returned to his work in July. Funeral services were held in Trinity church, Loyal, on Nov. 6, and burial services were conducted from Immanuel church, Cedarburg, WI., on Nov. 7. Pastor Pfohl was born in Walmore, NY.., on March 24, 1904. He received his education at Martin Luther Seminary, Buffalo, Erie County, NY.., and was ordained on June 24, 1928. He served parishes in Random Lake, Leland, Westfield, and Loyal, all in Wisconsin. . He is survived by his wife, one daughter, two sons, five sisters, and three brothers.

    SANBORN-Martha A. (Pfohl) Haseley, 90, of Bridgeman Road, died Friday (July 4, 1997) in Schoellkopf Health Center, Niagara Falls.
    She was born Nov. 20, 1906, in the Town of' Lewiston the daughter of John and Eleanor (Fahrnwald) Pfohl. .She was a 'lifelong resident of Sanborn. She attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church Christian Day School.
    She married Jonas J. Haseley on Jan. 10, 1932 He died in 1972.
    Mrs. Haseley owned and operated a vegetable farm with her husband for more than 50 years.
    She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Wheatfield, where she was active in several church activities including sending cards to the sick and shut-ins.
    Mrs. Haseley. enjoyed working with flowers. She is survived by two sons, John Haseley of Lantana, Fla., and Donald Haseley, of Sanborn; a daughter, Martha. Haseley of Yokosuka, Japan; three sisters, Verone Haseley, Lizzie Haseley and Eleanore (sic) Craft, all of Sanborn; a brother Louis Pfohl of Sanborn; a grandson ,two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Jonas Haseley Jr., who died in infancy and sister of the late Rev. John Pfohl, Sigmund Pfohl and Max H Pfohl.
    Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Monday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Wheatfield. The Rev, Allen Griep will conduct services at 11. a.m. Tuesday. In St. Peter's Church.

    Louis A. Pfohl, 91, of Lockport Road, died on Wednesday (April 19, 2000) after being stricken ill at home with an apparent heart attack.
    He was born Jun 28, 1908 in Sanborn, the son of John and Eleonore (Fahrnwald) Pfohl.
    Mr. Pfohl served during World War II with the United States Army, 8th Air Force, where he attained the rank of sergeant.
    He was employed at Carborundum Co. in the abrasive department as a stock handler for more than 40 years and also had worked on the family farm on Walmore Road for many years.
    Mr. Pfohl was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, where he had served as Elder and a member of the church choir for more than 50 years.
    He was a past commander of Post 969, American Legion, Sanborn, and exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company; a member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club; and the Carborundum Alumni Association.
    “Uncle Louie,” as he was affectionately referred to by many in the Sanborn area enjoyed collecting black walnuts, cracking them and giving them to friends.
    He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing baseball in his early years and watching in his later years.
    He is survived by three sisters, Verone Haseley, Lizzie Haseley and Eleonore Craft all of Sanborn; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.
    He was the brother of the late Minnie Kroening, Martha Haseley, Sigmond (sic) Pfohl, the Rev. John Pfohl and Max Pfohl.
    Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6:30 - 9:30 today at the Rhooney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, where the Sanborn Fire Company will conduct a memorial service at 9:30 p.m. The rev. Bruce M. Gamaché will conduct services at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.

    Louis A. Pfohl, a lifelong resident of Sanborn who was affectionately known as "Uncle Louis," died in his home Wednesday (April 19, 2000) after apparently suffering a heart attack. He was 91.
    He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 8th Air Force, where he attained the rank of sergeant.
    Pfohl was employed for more than 40 years by the Carborundum Co. in the abrasives department as a stock handler. He also worked on the family farm on Walmore Road for many years.
    He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he had served as an elder and had been a member of the church choir for more than 50 years.

    SANBORN - Max D. Pfohl, 77, of Walmore Road, died Sunday (May 31, 1992) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness. The native of Lewiston was the son of John and Eleanore (sic) (Fahrnwald) Pfohl. He operated his family's dairy farm his entire life.
    Pfohl was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder. He was a member of the Niagara Milk Co-Op Inc., the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club and an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Co.
    He is survived by his wife, Carol M. (Haseley) Pfohl of Sanborn; three sons, David Pfohl, James Pfohl and Robert Haseley, all of Sanborn; a daughter, Judith Long of Sanborn; four sisters, Martha Haseley, Verone Haseley, Lizzie Haseley and Eleanore (sic) Craft, all of Sanborn; a brother Louis Pfohl of Sanborn; two granddaughters; and Several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Minnie Kroenig (sic), Sigmund Pfohl and the Rev. John Pfohl.
    Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Dubois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. The Rev. Herbert R. . Maxwell will conduct services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road, Wheatfield. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.

    She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, NY. Lizzie was baptized on October 3, 1915 and confirmed on Apr 21, 1929.
    On January 12, 1939 Lizzie & Marcus Albert Haseley were united in marriage. They were blessed with three children: Ronald M., Frederick W., and Mark J.
    She was a lifelong resident of Sanborn where she attended local schools. She worked for J.J. Haseley & Sons, and accompanied her husband Marcus to the Niagara Falls Farmer's Market for over 40 years. She also had worked at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church Rectory, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY for 19 years.

    She had worked for the Jonas and Martha Haseley Muck farm for several years and for Moore Business Forms, for many years. She married Gilbert Goeseke, on July 22, 1950, and they moved to Newstead, NY, where she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Gilbert predeceased her on December 15, 1961.
    She was married to Edwin Werth, on June 15, 1966, when they returned to the Sanborn area, he died on November 15, 1971. On September 16, 1978 Eleonore married Raymond Craft and they were married for six years, prior to his death on August 9, 1984.
    Survivors include a son, Russell [ Barbara ] Goeseke of Town of Wheatfield, stepsons, Ronald [ Marlene ] Craft, Galen [ Nancy ] Craft, step daughter-in-law Dolores Werth, a granddaughter, Melissa Goeseke, step grandchildren Michael Werth, Cheryl Werth, Jeffery Craft, Mark Sydor, Robin Sydor, Scott Sydor, 4 step great grandchildren, a sister, Lizzie [ Marcus ] Haseley, of Sanborn, and many nieces and nephews.

    The lifelong resident of Sanborn was the son of the late Phillip and Minnie (Pfohl) Kroening.
    He was a self-employed truck driver for 40 years and for the past year drove for the Buffalo Fuel Corp. He was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Laymen's League, and was treasurer and assistant bingo chairman of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. He was a former member of the Sanborn Band and a member of the Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association.

    Herman E. Kroening age 86, was called to his heavenly home on December 22, 2014 while at the Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY on February 12, 1928, he was the son of the late Philip and Minnie (Pfohl) Kroening. Herman was a self employed agricultural farmer in the Town of Wheatfield, and raised various farm animals. For many years he worked in his family's lumber yard with his father and brother.

    Survivors include a daughter, Amy Consier of Newfane; a sister, Esther (dec. Donald) Schneck; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, Norma E. Kroening on July 27, 2003 and a brother, Rudolph Kroening.

    Poughkeepsie - Esther Minnie Kroening Schneck, 84, passed into eternal rest on Saturday August 8, 2020. Esther was born at home in Sanborn New York on December 11, 1935 to Phillip and Minnie Pfohl Kroening. She attended school at St. Peter's Lutheran School in Walmore and Wheatfield School in Sanborn. She graduated from North Tonawanda High School NY in 1954. She was employed as a Secretary in Niagara Falls in the industrial Relations Department of Electro Metallurgical Company, A Division of Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation. She also kept and maintained a beautiful home for many years where she helped raise her children and entertain family and friends. She was married to Donald V. Schneck on August 18, 1956 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, New York by Rev, Sherwood Schroer. She also was an active member of that church. Her husband's employment with IBM resulted in their family traveling to and living in many states including Maine, Washington, California and New York. These relocations gave them wonderful opportunities to visit and enjoy many National Parks. Esther attended and was an active member of various churches all her life, the most recent of which was St. John's Lutheran Church for the past 55 years. During that time she served the church and its members in many capacities. These included Adult Education for Congregational retreats, Vacation Bible School teacher, Bethel Bible Series student and teacher, and various other committees. Together with her husband Don they graciously hosted in their home for 15 years a bible study group which they named "For such a time as this". Throughout her life Esther relied on her personal faith in God thru Jesus Christ. This faith gave her strength, hope and an assurance that she would one day be with her Lord and Savior in heaven. Esther loved going on vacations (especially to Maine), family gatherings of all kinds and celebrating holidays together. She enjoyed cake decorating, creating beautiful floral arrangements and everyone enjoyed her wonderful cooking (especially her famous Chocolate Tortes). Esther was the mother of three children Daniel (Fiancé Milagros), David (wife Rosemarie) and Karen (Husband Richard Hutchings - Deceased). She was Grandmother to 10, Jessica (Husband Jason Smith), Jason Hutchings (Wife Kasey), Daniel Fuentes (Wife Ali), Jacob Schneck (Wife Annie), Tiffany Schneck (Fiancé Thomas), Nathan, Stephanie (Husband Daniel Schroder), Bethany, Christina (Fiancé Taylor and Christopher. Esther was Great Grandmother to 10, Jeremiah, Melina, Sara, Sabelle, Addie, Dakota, Noah, Emery, Willow and Wyatt. Esther was devoted to her family and cared for them for many years. From raising three very young children as she traveled across the country to caring for her dying husband during his courageous battle with cancer she gave herself for others. Above everything else Esther loved her family and they loved and adored her in return. She will indeed be greatly missed. Call hours will be from 5 to 7:30pm on Thursday, August 13, 2020, at sweets Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park, NY. A service will be held at the Funeral Home immediately following the viewing. Rev.     John J. Haseley, age 82, of Lantana, FL, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, at the JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, FL.
    John was born on June 11, 1935 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Jonas and Martha (Pfohl) Haseley.
    John attended Wilson Central High School. He served two years in the U.S. Army based in Fort Hood, TX, with overseas duty in Germany. Together with his wife Jean, they owned and operated the John J. Haseley & Son farm and greenhouses in Sanborn, NY, for many years.
    John was a dedicated life member of the Sanborn Fire Company and served as Fire Chief from 1968 to 1971. John was also a member of the fire company band. John also served as a Town of Lewiston police officer with the rank of Sergeant, graduating from the Niagara County Law Enforcement Academy in 1977. After retirement to Florida, John worked as a heavy equipment operator.
    John enjoyed deer hunting all his life with his son, brother, family and friends.
    John is survived by his son, John (Karen) Haseley, Jr. of Lake Worth, FL; two grandsons, Matthew (Christen) Warne and Austin (Allison) Warne; one great-grandson, Mason; a brother, Donald (Susan) Haseley of Sanborn, NY; and a sister, Martha Haseley of Lewiston, NY. John was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, in 2016.
    Services will be private.
    John loved and cherished his family. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

    SANBORN, June 12.-Jonas J. Haseley, Jr., six months old, son of Jonas and Martha Haseley, of the Saunders Settlement road, died yesterday at the family home. The funeral services will be held from the home on Thursday, June 14. at 2 p. m., standard time, and at 2:30 at St Peter's church at Walmore. Interment will be in Walmore cemetery. The Rev. Edward Graubau (sic) will officiate. The child had been ill for 10 days with pneumonia.

    SANBORN, June 16.-Funeral service for Jonas J. Haseley, Jr., six months old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas J. Haseley, was held Thursday at 2 p. m. from the family home, Saunders Settlement road and at 2:30 at St. Peter's Lutheran church. The bearers were Rudolph Kroening, Albert Haseley, Jr., Rudolph Walck, Jr., and Edgar Walck. The flower bearers were Harold Kroening, Kermit Haseley. Gladys Kroening, Helen Kroening, Lilly Haseley.     Ronald Marcus Haseley, devoted husband, father, and Lutheran minister, peacefully passed away on May 28, 2023. His life was a testament to faith, compassion, and the transformative power of love.
    Ronald was born on September 1, 1941, in Niagara Falls, New York, to the late Marcus and Lizzie Haseley. Educated in theology and ordained as a minister after completing his studies at Capital University and Trinity Lutheran Seminary. He dedicated his life to serving as a minister in Texas, Indiana, and Ohio for over 50 years. His sermons were marked by his profound knowledge of Scripture, his ability to translate its teachings into practical wisdom, and his gift for conveying spiritual guidance with both humility and clarity.
    Ronald's ministry extended beyond the walls of the church. Outside of his pastoral duties, Ronald cherished his role as a loving husband to his beloved wife Joanne and as a nurturing father to his three children, Michael Haseley, Beth Shelton (Evan), and Laura Haseley Wilson (Andy). He created a home filled with love, where faith, kindness, and forgiveness flourished. Ronald's dedication to his family was unwavering, and he instilled in them the importance of a life lived with purpose and compassion. Ronald is also survived by eight grandchildren, Michelle, Ian, Sam, Caitlyn, Elizabeth, Marcus, Hannah and Michael and brother Fred Haseley.
    A service to celebrate the life and ministry of Ronald Haseley will be held on June 6, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4686 E Walnut St, Westerville, OH. Visitation at 10:00 with a service at 11:00. In honor of his memory, the family requests that donations be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Westerville, or Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio.
    As we bid farewell to Ronald, we take solace in knowing that he has found eternal peace and has been embraced by the loving arms of the Father. We will hold his memory close, cherishing the profound impact he made on our lives.

Mark attended St. Peter's Lutheran School and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School. He was a dump truck driver with Haseley Trucking for over 20 years and with Mawhiney Trucking. Mark enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, bowling and golfing. He was an avid college basketball fan and wine maker. Mark is survived by his wife, Marilyn C. [Jaremko] Haseley, they were married on March 11, 2000; two daughters, Jamie L. (Donald) Graham of East Rochester, NY and Kelly (Wiley) Smith (USN) of Wahiawa, H; two step daughters, Priscilla Schultz of Newfane, NY and Jackie (Dan Cavaretta) Ozzimo of Tonawanda, NY; six grandchildren, Mitchell, Macie, Ty, Kylie, Brianna and Melissa, two brothers Rev.
