    YOUNGSTOWN - William C. Rickert, 82, died Friday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston after a lengthy illness.
    Born in Niagara Falls, he had lived in Youngstown the last 22 years. He was a 1942 graduate of LaSalle High School and had attended Niagara University and the University of Buffalo.
    Mr. Rickert was employed by DuPont Co. in Niagara Falls as a traffic clerk in the Transportation Department. He retired in 1981, after 30 years of service.
    He was an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls. He had served as president of its Church Council and as a Communion Deacon. He also attended Lewiston Seniors.
    He enjoyed reading, woodcarving and the arts. He frequented art museums, the symphony and the ballet. Survivors include a sister, Lois Griebner of Lewiston. A funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 18th Street at Cleveland Avenue, Niagara Falls. Burial will be in the Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston.

    Obituary of Lois Griebner

    Lois Rickert Griebner, 85, of Lewiston, NY, passed into the arms of our Lord on Friday, April 1, 2016, at Niagara Hospice in Lockport after a long battle with cancer. Lois was a loving wife to Robert Clarence Griebner, who was taken from her much too soon, and mother to Kristin and James.


    Born on June 20, 1930, in Niagara Falls to Elsie Rickert (Haseley) and Arthur Rickert, Lois had one brother, William Rickert (predeceased 2005). She graduated from LaSalle Jr./Sr. High School in 1948 and soon after went to work at DuPont in Niagara Falls. After her husband passed away, Lois returned to school, attending Niagara County Community College for Business then securing a position with Staff Builders.


    Lois was a strong woman and a pillar of the community. For more than 50 years, she was a very active member of the Lutheran Church of the Messiah in Lewiston as a Sunday School teacher as well as singing in the choir, serving on the women's guild, and being named Church Woman of the Year. She was also an active member of the Lewiston Garden Club, the 48ers group from LaSalle High School, and the Lewiston Historical Society. Lois loved her family and holidays, and family gatherings meant the world to her, as she found great joy in her family, both immediate and extended. Her love of the Lord shined through her.


    Lois is survived by her daughter Kristin Griebner Lathrop (Lloyd), son James Griebner, and two grandsons, George Aron Wright and Robert William Wright. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (1978) and brother William (2005).


    Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston on Tuesday from 1 - 3 and 5 - 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Lutheran Church of The Messiah, 915 Oneida St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Thomas Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Riverdale Cemetery Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute , PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240 and Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.

    Obituary of James Griebner

    James Robert Griebner, age 54 of Lewiston, died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at his residence.


    Jim was born May 21, 1962 in Lewiston, NY, the son of the late Robert C. and Lois (Rickert) Griebner. He graduated from Lewiston Porter High School in 1980 and then completed diesel mechanic school in Ohio. Jim has had a long career as a diesel mechanic and recently received a ten-year commendation from his employer, Modern Disposal.




    He loved his family and loved spending time with them. He attended numerous concerts and shows at ArtPark with his nephews George and Robert, and enjoyed sailing and fishing with his late uncle, William Rickert. Jim also cherished the time he could spend with his friends who, along with his family, will miss him dearly.

    He enjoyed helping his neighbors with yard work, shoveling driveways, and any other chores they needed help with. A friend referred to him as a "neighborhood angel."


    He is survived by his sister, Kristin G. Lathrop (Lloyd), and two nephews, George A. and Robert W. Wright.


    Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston on Thursday, September 1, from 6 to 8 pm. Jim will be laid to rest with his parents in Riverdale Cemetery in private graveside service, with the Rev. Thomas Mason officiating, In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
