    NEWFANE - Rosa M. Haseley, 84, formerly of Hillcrest Avenue, died Saturday (June 29, 1974) in the Newfane Inter-Community. Hospital. Born July 12, 1890, she had been a resident of this town for 50 years and had been a resident at the Newfane Nursing Home since 1959. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She was the wife of Christian Haseley, who died in 1953. She is survived by three sons, Lawrence Haseley of Wilson, Kenneth Haseley of Buffalo and Raymond Haseley of Lockport; a daughter, Mrs. Forrest (Ruth) Jackson of North Tonawanda; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, Newfane, and at Faith Lutheran Church at 1: 30 p.m. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in St.. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church building fund, the family said.

    NORTH TONAWANDA - Charles J. Wittkop, 71, 608 Adams St., died Wednesday (March 18, 1964) in DeGraff Memorial. Hospital. Born in Pendleton, he lived most of his life in this area and was employed by the Riverside Chemical Co. and retired six years ago. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. His wife, the late Pauline Runge, died in 1944. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gerald O'Connor, Tonawanda; a sister, Mrs. Rose Haseley, Newfane; and three grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Hamp Funeral Home Inc. where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday by Rev. A. W. Moldenhauer. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.

    Ransomville - Albert J. Witkop, 82, died at his home today (Dec 3, 1958). A farmer and resident of the area for the last 50 years, Mr. Witkop was found dead in bed by his son. Albert Jr. Born Feb 26, 1876 at Mapleton, he purchased farm property when he moved here in his early 30's. Mr. Witkop was a member of the Tonawanda Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Survivors in addition to the son at home, include another son Chester, and a daughter Mrs. John Lein. both of Lockport, a brother Charles Witkop, and a sister Rose Haseley, Newfane, five grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren. His wife died several years ago. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday at the Hardison Funeral Home. Burial will be in North Ridge.

    WILSON - Funeral services will be held Monday for Lawrence E. Haseley, 65, of 415 Young St., who died unexpectedly Thursday (May 1, 1980) after collapsing while playing golf. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Lockport Memorial Hospital. He was born in Cambria, son of the late Christian and Rosa Wittcop Haseley. He had retired April 1 after 43 years employment at Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors. At the time of his retirement he was a production scheduler. Haseley was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and past superintendent of the Sunday school. He was a member of the Harrison golf team. He is survived by his wife, Winifred Ruth Johnston; three sons, Carl, of Biloxi, Miss., Daniel, of Rochester, and the Rev. Stephen Haseley, of Iowa City, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Doyle (Bonita) Jones, Lynville, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Forrest (Ruth) Jackson, Tonawanda; one brother, Kenneth Haseley, Buffalo; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church, Transit Road, Newfane. Burial will be in Corwin cemetery.     Lucille B. (nee Witkop) O'Connor, age 82, of the City of Tonawanda, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at DeGraff Skilled Nursing Facility. Born in North Tonawanda to the late Charles and Pauline (Runge) Witkop, she had been a lifelong resident of the City of Tonawanda, and was the mother of the late Rosemary O'Connor. Lucille was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in the City of Tonawanda.
    She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gerald W. O'Connor; three children, William C. (Joyce) O'Connor of North Tonawanda, Janet (Norbert) Rehner of West Seneca, and Geraldine Moos of CO; six grandchildren, William C., Jr. and Rhianna L. O'Connor, Jonathon and Kristopher Rehner, and Nicholas and Danielle Zdrojowy; and three great-grandchildren, William J., Jilian and Calisity. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
    There will be no prior visitation. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Chapel Columbarium. Arrangements by JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., Tonawanda.

    WEBSTER, NY — Varina "Tina" Haseley Wilson, of Webster, NY, formerly of Hornell, NY, wife of Michael William Wilson, passed away December 21, 2010. She was born on January 25, 1964 in Newfane, NY.

    She was a teacher for 16 years at Hornell High School as well as principal at Whitesville Central School for two years and North Rose Wolcott for one year.     Marie L. Fry passed away November 20, 2022 in Eastern Niagara Hospital.  Born March 18, 1937 in Lewiston she was the daughter of Albert and Ella (Kupke) Witkop.  Marie worked for 29 years at Harrison Radiator Div of GM in production, retiring in 1991.  She enjoyed the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, playing BINGO, gardening, crocheting, and especially enjoyed being with her family.  Marie was predeceased by her husband, Marvin “Dutch” Fry, daughter Debora Wagner, and sister Sara Witkop.
    Marie is survived by her children Donna (late Shorty) Massaro, Joy (late Randy) Cummings, Tom (Sherry) Dunn, Marvin (Linda) Fry, Brenda (Jim) Glaser, and Gail (Ralph) Friedrich; son-in-law Frank Wagner; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews and Charlie the cat.
    The family wishes to thank the staff on 2North at the hospital for all their care.

    John 'Jack' Leis of Kodak, TN ( formerly of Lockport, NY, and Naples, FL), walked through the gates of Heaven to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 23rd, 2017. He was the son of John and Mary (Witkop) Leis, born February 2nd, 1930 in Lockport.
    As a young adult, John was a farmer and then became a carpenter and later a general contractor. After moving to Naples, Florida, he continued working in construction as a carpenter and a mason, later he worked at Home Depot. After moving to Kodak, Tennessee, in 1999, he transferred to a east Knoxville area Home Depot, retiring in 2001 to build their new home. Being a talker and people person he returned to work at the Kodak Food City for six years where he was loved by all the children and parents that crossed paths with him. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
    Survived by his loving wife of 65 years this April 19th, Shirley (Zimmerman) Leis; and children, Cynthia (Delbert) Anderson, Duane Leis, Rodney (Stephanie) Leis, and Murray Leis. Also ten grandchildren; and seven, soon to be eight, great-grandchildren; sister, Elenor (John) Dunkelburger; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his eldest son, John Alan in 1998; his youngest son, Gerald Kent in 1966; and brothers, Robert (Patricia) Leis, and Gordon and his wife Catherine Leis.
    Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

    SAFETY HARBOR, FL — Robert W. Leis, 81, of Sevierville, TN, formerly of Lockport, NY, walked through the gates of Heaven to meet his Lord Jesus Christ on April 11, 2012. He was born in Lockport, NY on February 17, 1931, son of the late John and Mary (Witkop) Leis.

    He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Patricia (Clark) Leis, who provided compassionate and constant care since his illness began in 2005. Robert was the loving father of two daughters, Vicki (Keith) Smith of Lockport, NY and Julie (Kevin) Szatkowski of Safety Harbor, FL. He is survived by four granddaughters and one grandson, Melanie Smith of Washington, DC, Valerie Smith of Lockport, NY, and Jamilyn, Kameron and Kaitlyn Szatkowski of Safety Harbor, FL. He is survived by one brother, John (Shirley) Leis of Sevierville, TN; one sister, Eleanor (John) Dunkelberger of Lockport, NY; one sister-in-law, Catherine Leis of Long Beach, CA; several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Gordon L. Leis, who died just eight days before his own passing.

    Robert, also known as Bob, graduated from Lockport High School in 1948. In 1949 he enlisted in the US Army serving until 1952. While in the army he was stationed on the Pacific Island of Guam and was able to travel to Tokyo, Japan. Bob worked at Guterl Special Steel from 1952 until their closing in 1983. He then went to work for the Town of Lockport Water Department until he moved to Tennessee in 1995. During his retirement in Tennessee he enjoyed working at Dollywood. Bob was a member of the American Legion and First Baptist Church in Sevierville, TN. Bob enjoyed reading, bowling, baseball, boxing, watching football and spending time with his family and friends. His unique sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

    Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service in celebration of his life on May 12th, beginning at 10 AM at The Chapel at CrossPoint, 500 CrossPoint Parkway, in Getzville.

    LONG BEACH, CA — Gordon L. Leis, 80, of Long Beach, CA, formerly of Lockport, NY, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2012. He was born in Lockport on February 13, 1932, son of the late John and Mary (Witkop) Leis.

    He graduated from Lockport High School in 1949, and in 1951 enlisted in the Air Force. He was stationed at Sampson Air Force Base in Geneva, NY, Lowry AFB in Denver, CO, MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL. At college he majored in sociology, which prepared him to be a Professor in Sociology at Long Beach University.

    He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Catherine (Dolan) Leis from Scotland, who met Gordon in London, England, and were united in marriage in 1958. She is now in a nursing home in Long Beach. Also survived by son, Colin Leis; daughter, Tracey (James) Nelson, both in California. He was predeceased by son, Kevin Leis. He is survived by three granddaughters; one grandson; two brothers, John (Shirley) Leis; Robert (Patricia) Leis, both in Tennessee; one sister, Eleanor (John) Dunkelberger in Lockport.

    A memorial service will be held later this month in Long Beach.

    Eleanor M. Dunkelberger, of Lockport, NY, age 86, entered into eternal rest on June 4, 2020. She was born to the late John and Mary (Witkop) Leis on October 27, 1933.
    She is predeceased by her three brothers, John "Jack" (Shirley) Leis, Robert "Bob" (Patricia) Leis, and Gordon (Catherine) Leis. She is survived by her loving husband, John, of 63 years, whom she wed on May 11, 1957. She was a devoted mother to Janet Ingalsbe of California and Steven Dunkelberger of Tennessee. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Michelle (Micheal) Scinta, Troy Dunkelberger of Ohio, Jessica Ingalsbe and Chelsea Dunkelberger; two great-granddaughters, Hailey and Emily Dunkelberger; and several nieces and nephews.
    A memorial service will be held at the First Bible Baptist Church located at 949 Lincoln Ave., Lockport, on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 5-8 PM. Services also provided by the Peter K. Leslie Funeral Home at 250 Orchard Park Rd., Buffalo.
