A lifelong member here; was married in 1896 to Carl Kroening who died in 1901, leaving her with 3 small sons; the eldest son John died in 1916 at age of 19 from Typhoid; after 1922 she made her home with her son Elmer, east of Pekin; suffered a number of light strokes since Sept. 1954 and was bedridden for 4 months (Sept. 16, '54, till day of death; fell peacefully asleep. Elmer Kroening, Board Chief, Dies
SANBORN-Elmer F. Kroening, 67, of 4181 Upper. Mountain Road, prominent in civic and church affairs here and, chairman of the Planning Board in the Town of Cambria, died Friday (June 17, 1966) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in the Town of Niagara, he was the son of the late Carl and Anna Pfohl Kroening. His wife, the former Elsie Walck Kroening, died in September of 1965, Mr. Kroening was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Pekin, a member of the Board of Elders, the Church Council, the Lutheran Laymen's League of Western New York, and a past trustee of the church. He also was an exempt member of the Pekin Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the Niagara County Farm Bureau Extension Service, a former director of the National Grape Cooperative and a former board member of the Starpoint Central School. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are five sons, John and Herbert, of Lockport; Raymond; of Ransomville, and Harry and Martin Kroening of Sanborn; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Haseley, Sanborn, and Mrs. Dennis DeVantier, of Bergholtz; a brother, Edward Kroening, of Sanborn, and 28 grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home, Sanborn, and from noon until 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Pekin, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. by Rev. SANBORN - Edwin H. Kroening, 72, of 2849 Saunders Settlement Road was pronounced dead on arrival at Memorial Medical Center, Niagara Falls, Monday (Feb. 11, 1974) after suffering an apparent heart attack at work. Mr. Kroening Was a native of the Town of Niagara and had lived in Sanborn for the last 50 years, where he had owned and operated Kroening Garage on Route 31 for the last 49 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore; a charter member of the Sanborn Lions Club and an honorary member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Haseley Kroening; two sons, Harold and Gilbert Kroening; and a daughter, Mrs. Benjamin (Gladys) Haseley, all of Sanborn. He was the father of the late Miss Sharon L. Kroening. Also surviving are nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore. The Rev. Harold L. Baum will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

CAMBRIA - John F.. Kroening, 15, of Upper Mountain Road, . former Town. of Cambria supervisor, died Saturday (Nov. 8, 1997) in Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, after being struck by an automobile. He was responding to the scene of an automobile accident with the Cambria Fire Co. on North Ridge Road near Church Road, when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle while crossing the street.
He was born Oct. 28. 1922, in Niagara Falls, the son of Elmer and Elsie (Walck) Kroening. He and his family moved to Sanborn when he was an ...... Mr. Kroening later to the family farm (sic) in Cambria when he was 8 years old. He attended LaSalle High School.
Mr. Kroening served as the supervisor of Cambria from 1970 to 1993, and as a councilman for 15 years before becoming supervisor. He also worked at the former Wurlitzer Co. and the National Grinding Wheel for a few years before becoming a full-time dairy farmer.
He was a charter member of the Cambria Volunteer Fire County, founded in 1944, where he served as chief from 1952. to 1957. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Ridge, and a former member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Pekin, where he served as treasurer from 1952 to 1955 and as chairman in 1969.
Mr. Kroening was a former director of the Niagara County Extension Service and served on the Niagara County Agricultural Stabilization Committee.
“He loved our town,” said June, his wife of 45 years. “He always treated the town's money just as if it was his own.”
A “no-nonsense” sort of guy was how Councilman George J. Bush described Kroening.
“Farmers don't really talk between the lines,” he said, adding that Kroening had approached him years ago to serve on the town's Recreation Commission. Even though Bush just said he would think about it, the next thing he knew, he had been appointed. Although Kroening wore a pacemaker and had some health problems the past few years, his wife said “you couldn't keep him from doing things” as he still loved riding his tractor and helping out others.
In addition to his wife, June E. (Scherer) Kroening; he is survived by two sons, Bryan Kroening and Michael Kroening, both of Lockport; two daughters, Laurie Page of Cheektowaga and Shelia Feind of Lockport; three brothers, Herbert Kroening and Martin Kroening, both of Lockport, and Harry Kroening of Sanborn; two sisters, Hazel Hasely (sic) of Sanborn and Doris DeVantier of Niagara Falls; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Herbert E. Kroening, 75, a councilman for the Town of Cambria, died unexpectedly Monday (Jan. 29, 2001) in Lockport Memorial Hospital.
Born in Lewiston, he operated a dairy farm in Cambria for more than 50 years.
He was serving his third term on the Cambria Town Board at the time of his death.
Kroening was a member of Cambria Volunteer Fire Company for 52 years and served on the town's Agriculture Stabilization Committee for more than 30 years. He also was a committeeman with the National Grape Co-op (Welch's) and a director with Niagara Milk Producers for 13 years.
He was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Lockport.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Jeanette Schuman; two daughters, Kathy Kemble and Bonnie Glenn, both of Lockport; a son, Randy of Wilson; two brothers, Harry and Martin of Sanborn; two sisters, Hazel Haseley of Sanborn and Doris DeVantier of Bergholz; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Harry A. Kroening, 88, of Sanborn, NY was called to his heavenly home on Monday, May 9, 2016, at his residence under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. He was born in the Town of Lewiston, on June 6, 1927, the son of the late Elmer and Elsie [Walck] Kroening.

Mr. Kroening owned a dairy farm and was later employed with the Operating Engineers Local 463 for over 30 years, before retiring in 1989. He was an active member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church for the past 83 years, holding several offices. He was an exempt member of the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company.

Mr. Kroening built his own home as well as a cabin in the Southern Tier. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, gardening and woodworking.

Mr. Kroening was the husband of 63 years to the late Jeanette [Beutel] Kroening, who died on April 30, 2010. Harold C. Kroening, 82, of Sanborn, NY died Saturday, February 25th, 2006 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, after a brief illness.
He was born on June 8, 1923, in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, the son of the late Edwin H and Edna [ Haseley ] Kroening, and step son of the late Helen [ Haseley ] Kroening and was a graduate of LaSalle High School, in 1942.
Harold entered the United States Army on February 13, 1943 and was a squad leader serving in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal, prior to his separation from service with the rank of S Sgt., on November 20, 1945. Following his military career he was associated the family run Kroening's Garage in Sanborn for over 45 years, before retiring in 1985.
He was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, where he has served as an Elder and Head Usher for many years.
He was an honorary member of the Sanborn Fire Company, and had been a member of the Sanborn Fire Co. Band. He served as a member of the Sanborn Library Board of Trustee's for several years, and was a member of the Sanborn American Legion and the Sanborn Area Historical Society.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, the former Janet E. Pack, a daughter, Amy [ Ross ] Folmsbee, of Sanborn; a daughter-in-law Kathy Kroening-Armstrong, of Rochester, Monroe County, NY; a sister, Gladys [ Benjamin ] Haseley, of Sanborn; a brother, Gilbert [ Norma ] Kroening, of Ransomville, NY; 4 grandchildren, Jonathan Folmsbee; David, Melissa and Laura Kroening, an aunt, Audrey Haseley, of Calabash, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Sharon Kroening and his son, Bruce Kroening.

Of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital.  She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on June 19, 1925, a daughter of the late Edwin H. (Helen) and Edna [Haseley] Kroening.
Mrs. Haseley was a graduate of LaSalle High School.
She was the bookkeeper with Pils Service in Lockport for many years.
Mrs. Haseley was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Walmore, where she taught Sunday School, was active in the Women's Group and quilted for Lutheran World Relief.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid bowler.
Mrs. Haseley was the wife of the late Benjamin W. Haseley, who passed away in 2007.
She is survived by her children,  Jacqueline (Clifford) Blank, Donna (late Frank) Licursi, Terry ( Debra) Haseley, Patrice (John)  Elnicki, a sister in law Norma Kroening,  also  seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren,  many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Harold (Janet), Gilbert, Sharon and Richard Kroening.

SANBORN - Miss Sharon L. Kroening, 24, of 2849 Saunders Settlement Road, a physical education teacher at Niagara-Wheatfield Central School, died unexpectedly at her home Sunday (Dec. 22, 1968).
Miss Kroening, a native of Sanborn, was born Jan. 25, 1944, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Kroening, owners of the Kroening Garage here. She attended the Sanborn public school, and Niagara- Wheatfield High School, graduating in 1962.
She was a graduate of the State University of Buffalo, in 1966, and had been working there toward a master's degree in health and physical education.
She was a Sunday school teacher at Calvary Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, until two years ago. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Niagara-Wheatfield District Education Association and the New York State Teachers Association.
In addition to her parents, survivors include two brothers, Gilbert and Harold Kroening; a sister, Mrs. Benjamin (Gladys) Haseley; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Hu1da Haseley, and several nieces and nephews.

Ronald W. Kroening of  the Town of Cambria, passed away on  Monday, July 12, 2021,  at home under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice.   He was born in Niagara Falls, NY,  on June 1, 1949, a son of the late Raymond C. and Rose A. [Zastrow] Kroening.
Mr. Kroening was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years,  Sandra L. [Travers] Kroening, two sons Jeffrey and Timothy (Rachel) Kroening, two daughters Rebecca (William) Davis and Katherine (John) Northam, six grandchildren Abigail, Emily, Mason, Reagan, Bryce and Colton, two brothers David (Sue) and Mark (Donna) Kroening, two sisters-in-law of Janelle and Debbie Kroening, also many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kroening was the brother of the late Donald and Gary Kroening.
Private funeral services were held at the wishes of his family.
Memorials may be made in his name to St. John's Lutheran School.

SANBORN — Donald R. Kroening, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012, in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital Lewiston, NY. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on May 2, 1952, the son of Rose (Zastrow) Kroening and the late Raymond Kroening.

Don graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1970. He was employed with Harrison Radiator, later Delphi, for over 35 years, before retiring in 2005. Don was an Exempt Member of the Pekin Fire Company. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was an avid sportsman.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janelle L. (Wendt) Kroening; three daughters, Melissa (Gordon) Hermanson, Jr. of Sanborn, NY, Kelly (Bryan) Lane of Rochester, NY and Rachel (George) Sisson, Jr. of Amherst, NY; one granddaughter, Kaylee Lane; three brothers, Ronald (Sandra) Kroening, David (Sue) Kroening and Mark (Donna) Kroening, all of Ransomville, NY; one sister-in-law, Debra Kroening; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Don was the brother of the late Gary Kroening.

The family will be present on Monday from 4-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at the Community Bible Church, 4168 Church Road, Lockport, NY, with the Rev. Brad Delp officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to the Community Bible Church. Interment at Mount View Cemetery, Town of Cambria, NY.

ROCHESTER - Bruce H. Kroening, 44, formerly of Sanborn, died Tuesday Jan. 31, 1995) at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, of an apparent heart attack.
The native of Niagara Falls was born Aug. 12, 1950, the son of Harold and Janet Kroening of Sanborn. He attended Niagara-Wheatfield Senior High School and Brockport State University.
While residing in Rochester, Mr. Kroening worked at Eastman Kodak County, coached soccer for the Gates Soccer League and was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Schlegel) Kroening of Rochester; two daughters, Laura Kroening and Melisa (sic) Kroening, both of Rochester; a son, David Kroening of Rochester; a sister, Amy Fohmsbee of Sanborn; his paternal grandmother; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Funeral Home of Alvah Halloran and Son, 2125 Chili Ave., Rochester. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Faith Lutheran Church, 2576 Browncroft Blvd., Rochester.
