Old Resident of Wheatfield Dead
Herman W. Strassburg, 62 years old, a life-long resident of the town of
Wheatfield, died at his home on the Ward road at St. Johnsburg yesterday.
The deceased was born Bergholtz. Besides his widow, three sons, Amos and
Herman Strassburg of Buffalo and Albert Strassburg of St. Johnsburg; one
daughter, Mrs. Henry Toellner of North Tonawanda, three brothers, William,
Paul and John Strassburg and three sisters, Mrs. William Krueger, Mrs. Aaron
Moll and Mrs. Ernest Sheibert, survive. The funeral will be held from the
late home at 1 o'clock on Sunday afternoon and a half hour later from the
St. Johnsburg Lutheran Church, the Rev. Mr. Toewe officiating. Burial will
be in the St. Johnsburg cemetery.

Man Dies After Auto Collision
Bergholtz Resident Succumbs in Hospital Here
Herman Strasburg 58 years old, of Bergholtz, died shortly after noon today in Memorial hospital from injuries sustained Saturday morning in an automobile collision on the Niagara Falls boulevard near Bergholtz. Strasburg's car, which he was driving out of a gasoline station at the time of the accident, was struck by another car driven by Carl Kosbob, 323 Cambridge street, Buffalo. Two women and a child were also injured in the accident. Mrs. Walter Hofer, 26 years old, 262 East Tenth street, Oswego, riding with Kosbob, and her two-year-old son William sustained cuts and bruises and Miss Elizabeth Werth, 32 years old, of Bergholtz, riding with Strassburg, suffered lacerations of the eye, scalp and face.

of Albert J. Strassburg, Town of
Wheatfield. who died October 7,
leaving $2,500 realty and $300 personal
property, has been admitted
to probate by Surrogate William A.
Gold. Letters testamentary were
Issued to a sister, Lydla M. Toellner,
of Wheatfield.
Mr. Strassburg left all his real
estate, live stock and farm implements
to a nephew, Clifford A.
Toellner. of Wheatfleld. and the
residue was left to three nephews,

Victor H. Strassburg Sr., a longtime resident of Lewiston, passed away at his
home on Monday, June 3, 2019. He was 88. Born in Niagara Falls, New York on
November 25, 1930, he was the son of Harold and Evelyn (Masters) Strassburg.
Victor was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He served his country proud at
the early age of 18. His career led him back into servicing the military in a
different capacity, as a government contractor for most of his career.
Victor was the Founder and CEO of Steele Circle Building Corporation, which
serviced and maintained military housing units across the country.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ellen Rose (Whitehead) Strassburg; two
daughters, Dawn Marie (Lawrence) Houck and Lessa (Josh) “Leeza” Edholm; a
sister, Eleanor Murphy; grandchildren, Dayna; Erika; Stefanie and Nickolas; great
grandchildren, Chase, Andrew, and Riley, several nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by his son, Victor H. Strassburg Jr. and two grandsons, Steven and
Eric.
As a true testament to Victor’s life as a very generous man, he gifted himself to
the University of Rochester medical school.
The family will be present on Friday, June 21 from 2-4 PM in the LANE FUNERAL
HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, where Memorial services with Military Honors
will be held at 4 PM.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the John R. Oishei Children’s
Hospital, 818 Elliott Street, Buffalo, NY 14203 or to the University of Rochester,
Anatomical Gift Program, 601 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14642.
The interment will be held privately at a future date by the family.

JoAnn Marie (Toellner) Durick, age 80 of Wheatfield, NY, was called peacefully to her heavenly home on August 22, 2021, in her residence at Wheatfield Commons. Born in North Tonawanda, NY on March 20, 1941; daughter of the late Clifford and Hilda (Siegmann) Toellner. JoAnn was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Wheatfield. She had been employed with the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District, and was a dedicated loving mother and homemaker. JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Durick on May 3, 2002; and a brother, Jerry Toellner.Survivors include two sons, Kelly Durick and Steven (Stephanie) Durick both of North Carolina; a sister, Betty Brown of Wheatfield; sister in law, Judy Toellner of Arizona; grandchildren, Alexzandrea, Steven, Peyton and Christian all from North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Michael Borgstede, on Wednesday (August 25) at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, corner of Niagara Falls Blvd. and Ward Road, in Wheatfield. There will be a visitation period from 9-00 - 10:00 prior to the service, in the church. Interment will follow the service, in the church cemetery. Jerry W. Toellner, age 70, of Ramah, NM, went to be with his Heavenly Father on April 18, 2014. He died peacefully at his Gilbert, AZ home surrounded by family. He was born on July 12, 1943 in North Tonawanda, NY, where he was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 463 and worked over 20 years for Haseley Trucking.
Jerry was also a 50-year member of the St. Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Department there. He moved to Arizona in 1986 where he started his own business J & J Excavating & Grading. Once retiring, he moved to Ramah, NM, where he built his dream home in the tall pines of Timberlake Ranch. He was active in the community and served as a member of the board of directors responsible for all road maintenance, repair and snow removal. His greatest love was his family and his hobbies included hunting, fishing and watching NASCAR. Jerry never knew a stranger, he talked to anyone and was loved by everyone.
Predeceased by his daughter, Michele. He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Jill Pennington (Mike) and Stacy Smith-Mills (Mark); grandchildren, Shelby, Lacey, Dillon, Dalton, Ryan and Tyler; and sisters, Betty Brown and JoAnn Durick of North Tonawanda, NY.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 25th from 5-8 PM at Mountain View Funeral Home, 7900 E. Main Street, Mesa, AZ 85207. Service will be on Saturday, April 26th at 1:00 PM at Christ's Greenfield Lutheran Church, 425 S. Greenfield Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85234. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Jerry to Christ's Greenfield Lutheran Church.
