    Old Resident of Bergholtz District Laid to Rest at Walmore
    BERHOLTZ (sic), April 6 -A number of friends and relatives from this village attended the funeral services for William DeVantier, 79, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence on Lockport Road and at 2:30 o'clock from St. Peter's Lutheran church at Walmore. The Rev. Edward F. Grabau officiated. Mr. DeVantier was the husband of Matilda Pfuhl, father of Mrs. Philip Haseley, Adolph DeVantier, William DeVantier and Mrs. Philip Walck, all of Walmore; brother of Albert DeVantier, of St. Johnsburg, and Mrs. Auguste Kroening, also of Walmore. He was the father of the late Albert DeVantier, of Walmore, who was electrocuted at his home last Fall, when he came in contact with a live wire and killed instantly. Interment was in Walmore cemetery.

    PICKS UP LIVE WIRE AND MEETS INSTANT DEATH
    Tuscarora Road Man Electrocuted by 2,200 volt Charge on Lawn of Home
    Albert W. Devantier, 52 years old, of the Tuscarora road, R. F. D. Route No. I, was electrocuted this morning at 10:25 o'clock when he picked up a wire carrying 2,200 volts of electricity which had fallen across the lawn of his home. Falls firemen answered a call to the Deventier (sic) home to render first aid with the fire department inhalator but First Assistant Fire Chief Peter P. McGraw and Firemen Elmer Tevins and John Eagan reported that Devantier was dead when they reached the scene. Firemen said that the Niagara Falls Power company was installing some wires along the road near the Devantier home and that when one of the wires fell across Deventier's property he picked it up, not realizing that it was charged, and was instantly killed.

    SANBORN-Mrs. Anna M Haseley, 76, of Walmore Road, this community, died today (Jan. 28, 1964) in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born in the Town of Niagara March 4, 1887, the daughter of William and Matilda Pfhol (sic) Devantier. She had lived in this area all her life. Her husband, the late Philip F. Haseley, died in 1956. Mrs. Haseley was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore. Surviving are two sons, Mervin P. Haseley and Philip W. Haseley; a sister, Mrs. Philip (Rose) Walck, all of this community; two brothers, Adolph and William Devantier, both of Niagara Falls; and three grandchildren.

    Adolph DeVantier
    Adolph DeVantier, 87, of 9811 Lockport Road, died today (June 24, 1977) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness.
    A lifelong resident of the Town of Niagara, he was a blacksmith throughout Western New York for over 60 years, prior to retiring in 1965.
    He had served as the Town of Niagara Justice of the Peace and as a trustee of the Niagara District No. 2 School. He was an exempt member of the Niagara Fire Co. No.1 and a member of the Brotherhood of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
    He had celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary April 22, 1977.
    Survivors include his wife, Hulda Beutel DeVantier, a son, Bert of this community; two daughters, Mrs. Hugo (Lillian) Walck of the Town of Wheatfield and Mrs. Edwin (Edna) DuBois of this community; a sister, Mrs. Philip (Rose) Walck, Town of Wheatfield; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore, with the Rev. Paul F. Wittenberg officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.     William J. DeVantier, 71, of 10025 Lockport Road, Town of Niagara, was pronounced dead on arrival at Memorial Hospital, Thursday (Oct. 3, 1968) after suffering an apparent heart attack in his home. A native of the Town of Niagara, he was born at the home where he made his residence all his life. He was a member of Niagara Fire Co. No. 1.
    He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran, Church, Walmore.
    Survivors include his wife, Frances; three daughters, Miss Virginia DeVantier, Mrs. Leonard (Mabel) Beutel of Sanborn, and Mrs. Melvin (Elaine) Pfohl of Niagara Falls; a brother, Adolph, of Niagara Falls; a sister; Mrs. Philip Walck of Sanborn, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gerald E. Scheck Officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran, Cemetery.     SANBORN - Rose A. Walck, 86, of Lockport Road, a native of the Town of Niagara, died Friday (May 1, 1987) at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late William and Matilda (Pfohl) DeVantier. Mrs. Walck had lived in the Wheatfield area for most of her life. She was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Church Women, and the Town of Wheatfield Senior Citizens. She and her husband, Philip C. Walck, who died in 1980, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in 1977. She is survived by daughters, Phyllis Kroening and Mae Behrens of Sanborn, and seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Rhoney Funeral Home Inc., 5893 Hoover Road. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wheatfield, with the Rev. Herbert R. Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.     Elmer A. De Vantier 84, of the Town of Cambria, NY died Wednesday June 12, 2002, in the Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY, after a long illness.
    He was born February 6, 1918, in the Town of Niagara the son of Albert and Christine [ Hoffmeister ] De Vantier, where he attended local schools. Always living on a farm, Elmer began his farming career at an early age, assisting with the farm chores as a child.
    He moved to the town of Cambria, in 1944, where he continued to operate his own farm, until his health prevented him from doing so. He was a longtime member of the St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Pekin, Niagara County, NY.
    He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Ruth E. Mueller; two sons, Richard De Vantier; Robert and wife Susan De Vantier, all of Sanborn, NY; Susan Thompson; Sharon and husband Kenneth Walker, of Sanborn, NY; one sister Lydia and husband Norman Mueller, of the Town of Niagara, Niagara County, NY; six grandchildren, Michelle Thompson; Jayme Thompson; Dan Walker; Andrew Walker; Rebecca Drabczyk and Christina De Vantier.
    He was pre-deceased by one brother, Norman De Vantier, one sister, Gladys Milleville and one son-in-law William Thompson.
    The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 P.M., Friday.
    Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 am, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 3229 Upper Mountain Road, Pekin, Niagara County, NY, with the Rev. R,. Peter Voegeler, officiating.

    Lydia S. Mueller, a homemaker, died Saturday (April 12, 2003) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness. She was 81.
    The former Lydia DeVantier was born in the Town of Niagara and attended local schools.
    She enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad, and also enjoyed gardening. She also enjoyed traveling to the family hunting camp, "Mueller's Magic Mountain," with her husband and family.
    She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and church activities as a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wheatfield.
    Mrs. Mueller is survived by her husband of 62 years, Norman A.; two sons, Frederick of Camarillo, Calif., and Donald of Moon Township, Pa.; a daughter, Carolyn Root of Alamogordo, NM; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Wheatfield. Burial will be in the church cemetery

    She was born in the Town of Niagara on Nov. 15, 1932. the daughter of Albert and Christine (Hoffmeister) DeVantier.
    On June 7. 1958. she married Donald Milleville in St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
    From 1950 to 1959. she worked as a secretary at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
    An active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the choir and the Women of the Church group. She enjoyed quilting and sewing.
    In addition to her husband. she is survived by four sons. Thomas Milleville of Sanborn. Joel Milleville and Todd Milleville. both of the Town of Niagara. and Deron Milleville of Columbus. Ohio: a daughter. Barbara Milleville of Marietta, Ga.: a brother. Elmer DeVantier of Pekin; a sister. Lydia Mueller of the Town of Niagara: two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.     The former Gladys DeVantier, who lived on Lockport Road, was born in the Town of Niagara.
    She worked as a medical secretary from 1950 to 1959 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
    Mrs. Milleville was involved in teaching Sunday school, was a member of the choir and of the Women of the Church group at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Wheatfield.
    She enjoyed quilting and sewing.
    Survivors include her husband, Donald; four sons, Thomas of Sanborn, Deron of Columbus, OH, and Joel and Todd; a daughter, Barbara of Marietta, Ga.; a brother, Elmer DeVantier of Pekin; a sister, Lydia Mueller; and two grandchildren.

    SANBORN-Philip (Pete) W. Haseley, 47, of 5888 Walmore Road, died Friday (Feb. 24, 1967) in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital after a four-day illness.
    He was born in the Town of Lewiston on May 8, 1919, the son of Philip F. Haseley and Anna DeVantier Haseley. He had lived all his life at the Walmore Road address where he operated a farm.
    Mr. Haseley was a life member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, and was a member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. band for many years.
    Survivors include his widow, the former Carol Bohl; a son, Robert, and a daughter, Judy, both at home; a brother, Mervin P. Haseley of Sanborn; a nephew, Paul Haseley, Sanborn, and several aunts and uncles.

Born in the Town of Niagara, NY on October 17, 1922; daughter of the late Adolph and Hilda (Beutel) DeVantier. A life long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sanborn, where she was currently the oldest member. Edna was active with St. Peter's Senior Citizens, the Cradle Roll, and quilter's group. She was also active with Daus House, in Bergholz as a curator for visitors. Edna and her late husband, Hugo C. Walck, were united in marriage on June 7, 1947. He passed on October 3, 1994. They maintained a home in Florida for many years, and welcomed family and friends to stay there. Hugo and Edna traveled extensively in Europe, the Pacific Islands, Australia, and caravanned cross country, into the Canadian Rockies, up to Alaska. Edna and her sister Lillian, enjoyed traveling to the Holy Land. She enjoyed baseball, and was a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Atlanta Braves. Edna was an accomplished horse back rider, and naturally musically gifted in playing the piano and organ. Earlier in life, Edna was employed at Moore Business Forms in the 1950's, Biagios Quality Inn located in Niagara Falls, as the head housekeeper, and then worked at Hotel Niagara when John's Restaurant took it over. Survivors include her loving daughters, Brenda and Linda, and their husbands, Joel Jaffe and Michael Rozyczko; a grandson, Michael Rozyczko; special niece, Judy Baribeau; special nephews, Grant, Glenn and Mark DuBois; many other nieces and nephews; and a great nephew, Harley. Edna was also preceded in death by her brother, Bert DeVantier; and sister, Lillian DuBois.Friends are invited to join with her family, for services to be held on Wednesday, September 1, at 2:00 p.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY 14132, with the Rev. A lifelong resident of the town, he was also a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Bert W. DeVantier of the Town of Niagara and Lee G. DeVantier of Seoul, Korea; two sisters, Lillian DuBois of the Town of Niagara and Edna Walck of Wheatfield; and several nieces and nephews.     She attended St. Peter's Lutheran School and LaSalle High School. After high school she held various jobs including housekeeping, working at Moore Business Forms and at Bell Aircraft during WW II, as a "Rosie the Riveter", assembling parts for planes.


    Phyllis was united in marriage to Clarence A. Kroening on September 7, 1946, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sanborn. They were married 61 years when Clarence was called home on December 31, 2007.


    Phyllis was a devoted homemaker. She loved taking care of and spending time with her family - children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She and Clarence traveled widely; they visited many other countries and nearly all states in the U.S. In her later years, Phyllis enjoyed many visits with her family in New Jersey and Tennessee and with her sister in Florida. She looked forward to Friday night dinners with her sisters-in-law and Sunday lunches with friends after church.
    A lifelong and faithful member of St. Peter's, she served on the Altar Guild, participated in the Women's Bible Study Group, and was a very active member of the Quilters Group. She and Clarence delivered quilts for many years to the Lutheran World Relief Warehouse in Maryland for those in need worldwide.


    Phyllis is survived by three daughters, Linda (John) Pluff of Crossville, TN, Cheryl (James) Kluss of Sanborn, NY and Sandra (Gerald) Iulg of Bridgeton, NJ, five grandchildren Tanya (Ryan) Nakai, Todd Kluss, Tim (Nancy) Iulg, Nicole Pluff, and Dawn (Jeff) Hiatt and five great-grandchildren Lindsay Nakai, Drew Nakai, Annabelle Iulg, Timothy Iulg, Jr., and Magnolia Hiatt, two sisters-in-law Jane (late Edgar) Kroening and Ann (late Albert) Kroening and many nieces and nephews.
    She was the the sister of the late Mae (late Arnold) Behrens.


    Her family will be present on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY.
    Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6167 Walmore Road, Sanborn, with the Rev. Kenneth Spitler officiating.
    Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or Niagara Hospice.

    Janet Anne Herman, age 79 of Wheatfield, NY, was called to her heavenly home on July 15, 2022, while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on December 20, 1942; daughter of the late Norman and Irma (Schimschack) DeVantier. A graduate of Niagara Wheatfield Senior High School's first graduating class in 1960. Janet was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, in Wheatfield. She was a devout Christian with a passion for our Lord. Janet loved cooking, baking, crafts, spending time with her family, and loved all animals.Preceded in death by her husband, Sherwood "Woody" Herman in 2016. They were married on September 2, 1961. Survivors include three children, Darlene Herman of North Tonawanda, Jeffrey (Karen) Herman, and Debra Herman, both of Wheatfield; five grandchildren, David Bartlett Jr., Diana (Ernie) Hoover, Jennifer Bartlett, James Bartlett, and Emily Butski; four great-grandsons; a sister, Yvonne (late Morris) Ziehm; brother, Kenneth (Dorothy) DeVantier; and many nieces and nephews.Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Monday - July 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev.     Richard P. DeVantier  of the Town of Cambria, NY, passed away on Friday December 20, 2019 at his home.  He was born in Lockport, NY,  on July 20, 1949, a son of Ruth E. (Mueller) DeVantier and the late Elmer A. DeVantier.
    Mr. DeVantier graduated from Starpoint  and then served in the US Army during the
    Vietnam War.
    He was a production worker with Harrison Radiator in Lockport for over 30 years, retiring
    in 1999.
    Mr. DeVantier continued to operate the family farm and was an active member of St. Andrew
    Lutheran Church and a member of the NRA and Farm Bureau.
    In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother Robert (Susan) DeVantier, two sisters
    Susan (late William) Thompson and Sharon (Kenneth) Walker, also many nieces, nephews
    and cousins.

    His family will be present on Friday, December 27, 2019  from 3-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL
    HOME,  5983 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at
    11:00 AM at  St. Andrew Lutheran Church,   3229 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn, NY, with the
    Rev. Kurt D. Schultz officiating.
    Flowers are gratefully declined.     Memorials may be made in his name to St. Andrew Church.
    Interment with Military Honors in St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
