    Norman A. Walck, retired water superintendent of the Town of Wheatfield, died Tuesday (July 18, 2000) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness. He was 77.
    He retired in 1988 after 34 years with the Town of Wheatfield.
    A World War II veteran of the Army Air Forces, Walck was a past commander of American Legion Post 1451 in Wheatfield.
    He also had served as president of the Wheatfield Business Association and as secretary of the American Waterworks Association, and was on the board of the former Bergholz Fire Insurance Co.
    Walck was an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company.
    He enjoyed fishing.
    Survivors include his wife of 50 years, the former Audrey Mueller; a son, Robert of Chicago; a daughter, Cheryl Hayes of Lockport; two sisters, Helen Waldkoetter of North Tonawanda and Doris Toellner of Michigan; a brother, Melvin of Michigan; and three grandchildren.
    Services will be at 11 A.M. Friday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, on Walmore Road in Wheatfield. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    WHEATFlELD - Chester E. Walck, 65, of Hoover Road, died Saturday. (Dec. 5, 1992) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. He was born in Wheatfield on Dec. 22, 1926, the son of August and Eleanor Walck. He was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield and a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road, where he also was a past trustee.
    Walck worked, at the Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors in Lockport for 34 years, retiring in 1989. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Wheatfield Republican Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and family life.
    He is survived by his wife, Gertrude (Bechtel) Walck of Wheatfield; two daughters, Sharon Walck of Grand Island and Sandra Pluff of Lockport; a son, Ronald Walck of Ransomville; three sisters, Marion DuBois of Wheatfield, Helen Waldkoetter of North Tonawanda and Doris Toellner of Madison Heights, Mich.; two brothers, Melvin Walck of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Norman Walck of Sanborn; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the DuBois Funeral Home. 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. The Rev. Herbert R. Maxwell will conduct services at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Walmore Road, Sanborn. Burial will be at the family's convenience.

    Waldkoetter, Helen W.
    Helen W. Waldkoetter (Gath) (nee Walck) of North Tonawanda, was taken by Jesus to her Heavenly home on December 2, 2008 while in Niagara Hospice House, after a 12 year courageous battle with cancer. Helen was a graduate of the Buffalo General School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse in the Obstetrics Unit at DeGraff Memorial Hospital until the early 1970’s. In the early 1980’s she began a career as a much loved tour escort in the travel industry as a co-founder of, The Way to Go Tours. She was a very active and devoted member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and for many years she worked for the Niagara County Board of Elections. She was the daughter of the late August and Eleaner Walck and was the wife of the late Irving Gath. Beloved wife of Jerry Waldkoetter; dear mother of Wendy (Thomas) Zuch, Randall (Lee) Gath, Kathleen (John) Fretthold, Robert (Edythe) Gath all of North Tonawanda, and Julie Waldkoetter of New York City. Grandmother of Daniel, Ryan, Cory, Lissa, Andrew, Allison, Joanna, Edward, Leah and the late Erin; step-grandmother of Kelly; great-grandmother of Hannah. Sister of Doris (Arthur) Toellner of Madison Heights, MI and the late Marion, Melvin, Norman, Chester and Frances; aunt of many nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School and graduated cum laude from the University of Buffalo. He had currently been employed at Greenpeace in Manhattan, NY. His positive exuberance for learning, people, animals and life, left an impression on the hearts of those he felt fortunate to have crossed paths with on his journey. What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose. For all that we love deeply becomes a part of us. Ryan had the world in his hands. Now he has the universe. PEACE Beloved son of Randall and Lee (Schroeder) Gath of the Town of Wheatfield; Dear brother of Cory Gath and Lissa Gath both of California and the late Erin Gath. Grandson of Jerry Waldkoetter of North Tonawanda. Also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc. 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 10 AM. Interment in St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery.
