    Notes:

    HAROLD R. WIENKE, age 93 of Bergholz, Town of Wheatfield, NY, entered into his heavenly home on January 1, 2019 at the Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 12, 1925; son of the late Reinhard and Gertrude (Voelker) Wienke. Harold attended St. James Lutheran School, LaSalle High School, and Coyne Electrical College, in Chicago, IL. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and was assigned to the Carrier Aircraft Service Unit, where he did electrical service work on single engine fighter planes, Grumman F6F and Corsair F4U. He was honorably discharged in May 21, 1946, AEM2nd C.
    Harold joined his father's business, R.E. Wienke & Son, Electrical Contractors, retiring in 1987. He was a charter member of the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451, and was active in obtaining the Post's first home on Rohr Street, in Bergholz, a one-room schoolhouse, as a gift from the local school district. Harold served in various offices in the Legion, including Commander. He headed the grave-decorating committee for many years and often took his grandchildren with him, to place or collect flags at Niagara County cemeteries. Harold was a charter member of the Wheatfield Business Association, and served as its first treasurer. He joined the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company, at the age of 21, and was a 72 year exempt member, serving various offices including President. Harold was a life long member of St. James Lutheran Church, in Bergholz, where he was baptized, confirmed and married by his neighbor, the Rev. Otto Bruss. During most of his life, he lived just a few steps from his beloved St. James.
    Harold enjoyed family get-togethers and dinners, backyard softball, board games, cards and bowling. His bowling team consisted of seven other American Legion members, who were also all Lutherans from different area churches.
    Harold enjoyed his B&E (Baseball and Euchre). The club had monthly card games, dinners and picnics, and a yearly trip to a major league ballpark for the weekend.
    Baseball was Harold's favorite sport. In later years he enjoyed watching the Yankee Channel on TV. In the past, he and four friends saw the Cleveland Indians win a 1948 World Series game, where he saw center fielder Larry Doby play, who was the first Afro-American League player. Over the years, he and his wife, Peggy, visited 15 major league cities to see games.
    Harold married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Lou Parris, on August 21, 1948, enjoying 70 years of marriage. She predeceased Harold just three months ago, passing away on October 1, 2018.
    Also preceding him in death was his sister, Janice and brother in law, Eugene Camann. Harold's parent's both came from large families. His father, Reinhard Wienke, had 11 sisters and brothers, and his mother, Gertrude Voelker, had 10 sisters and brothers. Of the many Voelker cousins (21), Lois Milleville, is the only surviving cousin.
    Harold is survived b y his two daughters, Jennifer Parris (David Hardy) and Suzanne Wienke (Christine Pyjas); grandchildren, Richard (Heather) Skorik, Andrew Skorik, Tiffany (Darren) Palmer, Lindsey Graca, and Eric (Trista) Graca; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Kristin, Drake, Serena, Nadia, Nathaniel, Autumn and Kailan. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and dear family friend, Erich Marzahl.
    Private services for the immediate family will be conducted by the Rev. Dan Tabor, at DuBois Funeral Home (Bergholz) in Wheatfield. Interment will follow in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholz, or Niagara Hospice.

    Harold married PARRIS, Peggy Lou on 21 Aug 1948 in Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY. Peggy (daughter of PARRIS, Richard and FRERICHS, Viola J) was born on 6 Apr 1927 in Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY; died on 1 Oct 2018 in Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY.
