    Walmore, June 12.-Mrs. Augusta Retzlaff, 79 years old, widow of Frank Retzlaff, died late Saturday at the family home here. Mrs. Retzlaff is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Amalie Beutel and Mrs. Albert Jagow, both of this vicinity; one son, Rudolph Retzlaff, of Walmore; one brother, John Walck, of Bergholz, nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The funeral will be held from the family home on Wednesday, June 14m at 2 P. M., standard time and at 2:30 from St. Peter's church. The Rev. Edward A. Grabau will officiate. Interment will be in Walmore cemetery.

    Sanborn-Elsie H. Jagow, 76, of 6245 Ward Road, died Sunday (Dec. 26, 1965) in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital after a month's illness. She was the widow of Albert Jagow who died in 1963.
    She was born May 12, 1889, in the town of Wheatfield, daughter of Frank and Augusta Walck Retzlaff. In 1910, she was married and the couple operated a farm at the Ward Road address until her husband's death.
    Mrs. Jagow was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore and of the Ladies Aid Society of the church.
    Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Gertrude) Pfuhl, Niagara Falls; a son, Herbert Jagow, Sanborn; five grandsons and two great-grandsons. Another daughter, Mildred Jagow, died in August of this year.
    Services will be held at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home here at 2 P.M., followed by additional rites at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at 2:30, Donald G. Rehkopf officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
    The family will be present at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7-9 P.M.
    The family said donation to St. Peter's Lutheran Memorial Fund or Lutheran Vespers will be acceptable as tributes.

    SANBORN - Edwin W. Beutel, 74, of 2427 Lockport Road, was pronounced dead on arrival today (July 9, 1974) in Memorial Medical Center, Niagara Falls, after an apparent heart attack at home.
    He was a lifelong resident of the Town of Wheatfield, residing at the same address all his life. He had been employed at the Kimberly Clark Corp. as a machine operator where he had worked for over 30 years prior to retiring in 1965.
    He is survived by his wife, Alice Beutel; seven sons, the Rev. Eugene Beutel of Neptune, N.J., Allen Beutel of San Diego, Calif., Kenneth Beutel of Sanborn, the Rev. LeRoy Beutel of Baltimore, Md., James Beutel and Edwin Beutel Jr., both of Sanborn, the Rev. Donald Beutel of Lockbourne, OH; three daughters, Mrs. Jarry (Jeannette) Kroening of Sanborn, Mrs. Beatrice Lane of Albany and Mrs. James (Audrey) Tierney of Stow, OH; a brother. Walter Beutel of Wheatfield; 34 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Harold L. Baum will officiate.
    Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

    Sanborn Man Dies on Trip to Buffalo
    Sanborn - Rudolph A. Beutel, 58, of 2381 Lockport Road, a 30-year worker at Kimberly-Clark Corp, Niagara Falls, where he was employed as a machine operator until retiring three years ago, died today(Sept. 28, 1961) after being stricken with a heart attack in Buffalo.
    He was pronounced dead on arrival at Edward J. Meyer Memorial Hospital where he was taken by ambulance.
    A lifelong resident of this community, where he was born on Feb 20, 1903, Mr. Beutel was a son of the late William and Amelia Retzlaff Beutel. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore.
    Surviving are his widow, Louise Mueller Beutel; two sons, Leonard H. Beutel and James Morgan, both of this community; a daughter Mrs. LaVern (Ruth) Haseley, Niagara Falls; three brothers, Edwin, Irwin and Walter Beutel, all of Sanborn and eight grandchildren.
    Friends may call at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home, where Rev. Donald G. Rehkopf will conduct services at 2:30 P.M. Sunday and at 3:00 P.M. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church.     Ruth Amalie Emma Walck, 81, of Saunders Settlement Road, who had operated a family farm and sold produce at the Niagara Falls city market for many years, died at her residence Tuesday (May 7, 1996).
    The former Ruth Retzlaff was born in Wheatfield.
    She was an active, longtime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road, where she was baptized, confirmed and married, all by the same minister, the Rev. Edward Grabau. She belonged to the Women of the Church group.
    Mrs. Walck also was a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens.
    She and her husband, Irwin E., who died in 1966, operated the family farm together.
    Survivors include a son, Glenn; two daughters, Fay Poli of Pendleton and Nancy Dzialak; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road.

    Active church member; nursing home volunteer
    SANBORN - Ruth Amalie Emma (Retzlaff) Walck, 81, of Sanders Settlement Road, died May 7, 1996, at her residence.
    She was born in Wheatfield on June 8, 1914, the daughter of Rudolph and Mary (Jagow) Retzlaff. A lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, she was baptized June 21, 1914, confirmed April 1, 1928, and was married to Irwin E. Walck on Oct 3, 1937, all be the Rev. Edward Grabau at the church. Mr. Walck died Sept. 27, 1966.
    An active church member, she belonged to the Women of the Church group. She was also a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens and did volunteer work at local nursing homes. Mrs. Walck enjoyed family life and gardening.
    She and her husband operated the family farm and sold produce to the Niagara Falls City Market for several years.
    She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Dzialak of Sanborn and Fay Poli of Pendleton; a son Glenn Walck of Sanborn; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.
    She was the sister off the late Lillian Walck.
    Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. today at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz.
    The Rev. Allen Griep conducted services Friday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Burial was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield. Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Entrance Fund or to St. Peter's Lutheran School. Arrangements were made by DuBois Funeral Home, Bergholz.

    She was a lifelong resident of Sanborn and had been an active member of the St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church.
    She and her husband, Howard E. Walck, were the former operators of Walck's Farm Diary in Niagara Falls.
    In addition to her husband survivors include three sons, Howard C. Walck and Douglas Walck, both of Niagara Falls, and Dennis Walck of Sanborn, one sister, Mrs. Irwin (Ruth) Walck of Sanborn and four grandchildren.

    WHEATFIELD - Gertrude E. Pfuhl, 86, of Wendt Drive, died Thursday (Jan. 9, 1997) at home. She was born July 31, 1910, in Wheatfield, the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Retzlaff) Jagow.
    Mrs. Pfuhl retired from housekeeping with the Niagara-Wheatfield School District. She was a lifelong and active member of SI. Peter's Lutheran Church. She also was a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens. Mrs. Pfuhl enjoyed gardening, flowers and family life.
    She was the widow of Albert N. Pfuhl, who died in 1975. They were married April 22, 1934. She is survived by a son, Herbert C. Pfuhl of Webster; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was the mother of the late Clifford Pfuhl, and sister of the late Mildred Jagow and Herbert Jagow. She also was predeceased by a grandson.
    Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. The Rev. Allen Griep will conduct services at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore Road. Interment will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

    SANBORN-Mildred E. Jagow, 53, of 6245 Ward Road, Sanborn, died Sunday (Aug. 29, 1965) in Niagara Falls following a lengthy illness.
    Miss Jagow was born in Sanborn in 1912, the daughter of Mrs. Elsie Jagow and the late Albert Jagow. She made her home at the family residence in Ward Road all of her life.
    She was a life-long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, N.Y.
    Besides her mother, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Albert (Gertrude) Pfohl (sic), Niagara Falls; a brother, Herbert Jagow, Sanborn, and five nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pike and Jones Funeral Home, Sanborn, and at 2:30 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore. The Rev. Donald G. Rehkopf will officiate. He was a lifelong resident of Sanborn, and a life member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore. He was a former member of the church council, serving as elder and trustee. He was an exempt member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. and a former member of the Sanborn Fire Co.     Born July 27, 1927 in Sanborn, NY, he was the son of the late Edwin and Alice Beutel.
    He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving as Army Chaplain in Korea from 1953-1955 and a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. He served as a Mission Pastor in Baltimore, MD and Neptune, NJ. While living in Freehold, NJ, he was the Mission and Service Director of the American Lutheran Church in the Northeast Area. He obtained his Doctor of Ministry from Princeton University and went on to serve as Coordinator of Region 8 for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
    Rev. Beutel is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dolores M. Hanson; three sons, David Beutel and wife, Robin Marek of North Kingston, RI, Paul Beutel and wife, Teena of Newport, PA and Jonathan Beutel of Manasquan, NJ; eight siblings and eight grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday, May 2, 2005, in Saint Timothy Lutheran Church, 4200 Market Street, Camp Hill. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.     BEUTEL, ALLEN E. Ph.D. Allen E. Beutel of La Jolla passed away early the morning of November 25, 2003. He was born in Sanborn, New York on January 21, 1930. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and married Patricia, his wife of 52 years, in 1951. Allen moved his young family to San Diego in 1962 and pursued a career in Information Management within the Aerospace Industry and Federal Government. During his career, Allen served as Special Assistant to the Undersecretary of the Navy for Data Automation and held the position of Executive Director of the Office of Information Resources Management for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C. He received his Masters Degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University in 1972 and his Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Southern California in 1976. During his retirement, Allen enjoyed spending more time with his family, attending baseball games, playing golf with friends and continuing his love for teaching as an adjunct faculty member of the University of Redlands in their Master of Arts in Management Program. A Memorial service to celebrate Allen's life will take place at the Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, 120 Stevens Avenue, Solana Beach, CA on December 9, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. He was a warm, caring and compassionate man loved and admired by his family and friends. Jim served in the United States Army, worked at Kimberly Clarke and retired from Occidental Chemical Corporation in 2000. He remained socially active in retirement, working at the Maid of the Mist, Lane Funeral Home & Wagner’s Farm Market, where he worked for 69 years. Jim enjoyed playing cards, traveling & attending concerts with his wife, family & friends. He was an avid walker, and could out-walk many!     Longtime Sanborn resident Kenneth E. Beutel, a retired tool-and-die machinist, died unexpectedly Friday in his Buffalo home. He was 73.
    Born in Wheatfield, Mr. Beutel attended Trott Vocational School in Niagara Falls. A Sanborn resident most of his life, he moved to Buffalo in recent years.
    He was employed as a tool-and-die machinist at Bell Aerospace during the 1960s and worked for several other companies over the years, including a stint as a landscaper. He retired in 2001.
    Mr. Beutel was a member of the Sanborn Fire Company Band and St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walmore. In Buffalo, he was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and was a volunteer at DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda and Buffalo General Hospital. He also did volunteer work for the St. Vincent de Paul Society and enjoyed gardening.
    Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Doucette of North Tonawanda; a son, Bradley of Baltimore; three sisters, Janette Kroening of Sanborn, Beatrice White of Albany and Audrey Mattrese of Scottsdale, AZ.; four brothers, Edwin and James, both of Sanborn, the Rev. LeRoy of Fredericksburg, Va., and the Rev. Donald of Baltimore; and four grandchildren.

    Ruth M. Haseley, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at her home under the care of her family. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on April 25, 1929, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Louise [Mueller] Beutel.

    Family was most important to Ruth and, over the years, her love also embraced a large extended family. She will be remembered for her generosity of time and talent and her ability to meet life's challenges with abiding faith, love, and resiliency. Ruth partnered in the family farming business--working in the fields alongside her husband, making meals for the workers, and doing the bookkeeping. She also worked for the Niagara County Board of Elections.
    Ruth enjoyed crocheting, cooking, arts/crafts, traveling, and planning events.
    She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
    Ruth was the beloved wife of 62 years to LaVern E. Haseley, loving mother of Jane (Frank) Donato, Bonnie Mehls, Cindy (Timothy) Engleka, Ann (Frank) Testman, Charles Haseley and the late James Haseley, cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
    She was the sister of the late Leonard Beutel and late James Morgan.

    The family will be present on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY.Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY, with the Rev. Bruce M. Gamache officiating.

    Memorials may be made in her name to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or School.

    Interment in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.

    Leonard H. Beutel, of Sanborn, NY, loving father and grandfather, passed away Wednesday, November 19,2014 in Northgate Manor Nursing Home. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on April 25, 1930 the son of the late Rudolph and Louise [Mueller] Beutel.

    A lifelong resident of Sanborn, he graduated from LaSalle High School. Leonard served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he married his beloved, Mabel De Vantier in 1954.

    Leonard was a milkman for Hoover's Dairy for 41 years, where he was well-known and loved as "Lenny the Milkman", before retiring in 1999. Leonard enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, teaching them German, making them laugh and sharing many stories, always with a smile on his face.

    Devoted husband of 47 years to the late Mabel (DeVantier) Beutel, who died on November 15, 2001. Dear father of Larry Beutel, Loren (Annette) Beutel, and Linda (Scott) Hasley, loving grandfather of Benjamin(Sarah), Daniel, Nathan, Bethany, Julia, Collin, Connor and Trevor, great grandfather of Audrey and Bryson. He is also survived by a sister, Ruth (LaVern) Haseley and a sister-in-law, Elaine (Melvin) Pfohl and by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Beutel.

    The family will be present on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 am St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY, with the Rev. Bruce M. Gamache and the Rev. Jonathan Haseley officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or School.

Morgan, age 73, of Ridge Rd., died suddenly on Saturday, November 29, 2008 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston.James was born January 18, 1935 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, to the late Clyde and Mary Elizabeth (Emery) Morgan and was raised by his foster parents, the late Rudolph and Louise Beutel. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. On December 28, 1957 he married Joan E. (McCarthy) Morgan. Joan predeceased him on September 11, 1999.James first worked for Simon Steel in Lockport. He then worked in the Boiler Dept. at Kimberly Clark for 22 years. He retired as the Lot Service Manager from Alongi Oldsmobile in Niagara Falls where he was employed for five years. James was a member of North Ridge Untied Methodist Church in Cambria; a member of American Legion O. Leo Curtiss Post #830 in Ransomville; a life member of V.F.W. Post #2535 in Lockport; a member and past Commander of the Newfane V.F.W.
