    The Rev. Carl F. Duwe, a North Tonawanda native and a Lutheran minister for 72 years, died Friday (May 3, 1996) in Timken Mercy Medical Center, Canton, OH, after a brief illness. Mr. Duwe, 93, retired in 1967 in Ohio but returned to North Tonawanda for several years and served as interim pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, and St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda. He also served at other churches as needed. He was ordained in the former American Lutheran Church, which later merged into the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, after graduating from the former Martin Luther Seminary in Buffalo. Early in his ministry, Mr. Duwe served at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Ridgeway, Ont., and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Webster. In Ohio, he served for 19 years as pastor of Grace Lutheran in East Palestine and St. Luke's in Petersburg. He was pastor of Euclid Lutheran Church in Euclid for 18 years. He is survived by two sons, Herbert C. of Negley, OH, and Gordon E. of Richmond Heights, OH; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 P.M. Wednesday in Euclid Lutheran Church. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Park, Amherst.

    The Rev. Carl F. Duwe, Pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, will observe the 45th anniversary of his ordination into the Lutheran ministry Sunday.
    The Rev. Harold L. Baum of Pittsburgh, Pa., will be the guest minister at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services. A dinner for the family and guests will be served in the church hall at noon.
    The Rev. Mr. Duwe now lives with his wife in North Tonawanda. Since April he has been interim pastor at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn.
    The Rev. Mr. Duwe was ordained in St. Luke Lutheran Church, Ridgeway, Ont., on June 22, 1924. He served at a parish in Webster, N.Y., a church in Paris-Mapleton, OH, and at Grace Lutheran Church, East Palestine, OH, the latter for 10 years.
    He concluded his services at Fairport Harbor, OH where he retired in 1967 as pastor emeritus of the American Lutheran Church
    He is a graduate of Martin Luther College and Theological Seminary, Buffalo.
    During his ministry, Mr. Duwe served as president of the Augustana Conference of the Eastern District, American Lutheran Church, and was secretaryof the Eastern Distict American Missions Committee for 12 years
