    Sanborn Resident Dies
    SANBORN, Mar. 24.-August Kroening died today at the family home here. Funeral services will be held from the home on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 from St. Peter's church at Walmore. Interment will be in Walmore cemetery, Mr. Kroening is survived by his wife, Augusta (sic) two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Anton Haseley of Niagara Falls, Philip and Mrs. Albert Haseley of Sanborn, and Albert at home; one brother, William, of Sanborn, and ten grandchildren

    Services Set For Aged Farmer
    SANBORN, Jan. 24 — Services for William C. Kroening, 84. of Saunders Settlement Road, will be held at 3 o'clock tomorrow at the home, and at 2:10 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will be in S t Peter's Cemetery. Mr. Kroening, the oldest member of St. Peter's Church, died Sunday at his home. He was a veteran Niagara County orchardist and grain grower. Born in Walmore, as the Lock-port Road area was then known, Mr. Kroening also lived in LaSalle and attended St. Jacobl School at Bergholz. Mr. Kroening is survived by three children, Mrs. Hugo Devantier of Bergholz. William Kroening Jr. , and Mrs. Erwin G. Haseley of Walmore.

    TOWN OF PENDLETON - William B. Jagow, 78, of 4083 Tonawanda Creek Road, Town of Pendleton, died Monday (April 15, 1963) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of the Town of Pendleton and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Anna Siegmann Jagow and one daughter, Miss Luella Jagow.     Mrs. Haseley Dies at 71
    SANBORN-Mrs. Hulda A. Haseley, 71, of Lockport Rd., died Thursday (July 30, 1959) in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in the Town of Niagara, Jan. 27, 1888, she was the daughter of August and Augusta DeVantier Kroening. She married Anthony Haseley 49 years ago. They made their home for many years in Tuscarora Rd., Town of Niagara. For the last seven years, they had lived in their present home in Lockport Rd.
    Mrs. Haseley was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore.
    Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Edwin Walck, Lockport; Mrs. Max Haseley, Lewiston, and Mrs. Norman Wendt, Sanborn; a son, Harvey Haseley, also Sanborn; a sister, Mrs. Albert Haseley, Niagara Falls, and two brothers, Philip and Albert Kroening, both on Sanborn; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held at the home, Lockport Rd., at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and at 3 at St. Peter's Church, the Rev. Donald G. Rehkopf officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.

    SANBORN - Philip W. Kroening, 80, of 3056 Lockport Rd., died Saturday at the Niagara Falls Medical Center after a short illness. He operated a farm for the last 50 years on Lockport Rd. and since 1939 had operated a saw mill there also. Survivors include his wife, Minnie; two sons Rudolph of Niagara Falls and Herman of here; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Esther) Schneck of Wappingers Falls; a sister Mrs. Albert (Elizabeth) Haseley of Niagara Falls and nine grandchildren. The Rev. Harold L. Baum will officiate at services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church here. Burial will be in the church cemetery.     NORTH TONAWANDA - Edward M. Wendt, 64, of 835 Ohio St., died today, (April 9, 1964) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Sanborn and had lived here fo 40 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was employed by the Kimberly Clark Corp. His wife, Christine Eidt Wendt, died in 1957.

    Edna A. Haseley, the longtime owner of a family farm on Saunders Settlement Road, died Thursday (Aug. 22, 2002) in CrestWood Health Care Center, Wheatfield. She was 95.
    The former Edna Kroening was born in the Town of Lewiston in 1906. She married Erwin Haseley in 1932. Together, they worked on the family farm until his death in 1962.
    She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where she had been active in its Ladies Aid Society and worked on church dinners. She also was a member of the Sanbornites Senior Citizens Group and enjoyed quilting and crafts.
    Mrs. Haseley is survived by a son, Ernest of Niagara Falls; two daughters, Ruth Grose of Daphine, Ala., and Gretchen Plough of Jefferson City, TN.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6169 Walmore Road. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery

    He is survived by his wife, Helen Haseley Kroening; two sons, Harold and Gilbert Kroening; and a daughter, Mrs. Benjamin (Gladys) Haseley, all of Sanborn. He was the father of the late Miss Sharon L. Kroening. Also surviving are nine grandchildren.

    Services for Luella V. Jagow, 75, a retired employee of
    Remington Rand, will be held at 4 P.M. today in the Hamp Funeral Home Inc., Adam and Seymour streets, Tonawanda. Private burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
    Miss Jagow of Tonawanda Creek Road North died Thursday (Nov. 3, 1994) in her home.
    A native of Pendleton, she was an avid gardener and sold
    flowers from a roadside stand in front of her home. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda.
    Miss Jagow was employed at the Remington Rand plant in North Tonawanda, retiring after 32 years of service.

    SANBORN YOUTH BADLY INJURED; STRUCK BY LIMB
    Injured Thursday Evening and Is Still Unconscious at Falls Hospital.
    SANBORN. Jan. 26.-Edwin Haseley, 18-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Haseley of the Tuscarora road, south of this village, is confined to the Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Niagara Falls. with a fractured skull as the result of a coon hunting episode. The accident happened Thursday night and the youth is still unconscious and reported to be in very serious condition.
    Haseley was walking through a grove near his home on Thursday evening with some other boys when they saw what they believed to be a coon up one of the trees. In an attempt to dislodge the animal a heavy limb was broken from the tree which fell, striking Haseley on the head. He was taken to the hospital where he was found to be suffering from a severe fracture.

    Edwin Haseley, 18, Victim of Unusual Hunting Accident; Funeral Services Thursday
    Edwin Haseley, 18-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Antone (sic) Haseley, Tuscarora road, south (sic) of Sanborn, died at 8:15 o'clock last evening in Mount St. Mary's hospital of a skull fracture. The youth was admitted to the hospital Thursday, victim of an unusual hunting accident.
    With some other young men Haseley was walking through a grove near his home when one of the boys saw what he believed was a coon in a tree. He was taken to the hospital unconscious and did not regain consciousness before his death.
    The youth is survived by his parents; a brother, Harvey; three sisters, Frances, Hilda and Irma. Funeral services will be held at the home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock and at 2:30 o'clock in the Walmore Lutheran church. Burial will be in the Walmore Lutheran cemetery.

    Haseley Funeral Held
    SANBORN, Feb. 2-The funeral of Edwin Haseley, 18-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Antone (sic) Haseley of the Tuscarora Road who died, on Monday evening, at Mount St. Mary's Hospital at Niagara Falls of a skull fracture, which was held from the family home Wednesday at two o'clock and 2:30 at Walmore church was one of the largest ever held in this section. The bearers were: Philip Wittcop, Clarence Wittcop, Hubert Bentel (sic), Norman Pockelwaldt, Albert Pfhul (sic) and E. Deidtreich (sic). The Rev. Edward Granbau (sic) officiated. Burial was at Walmore Lutheran cemetery.

    TOWN OF CAMBRIA - Frances A.. (Haseley) Walck, 81, of Lockport Road, died Sunday (Jan. 2, 1994) at her residence, after a long illness.
    She was born in the Town of Niagara on Feb. 2, 1912, to Anthony and Hulda (Kroening) Haseley.
    She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn. She loved cooking and gardening.
    She and her husband, Edwin D. Walck were married June 17, 1934. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year.
    Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Donald Walck and Darrell Walck, both of Lockport; one daughter, Suzanne Milleville of Wheatfield; one brother, Harvey Haseley of Sanborn; one sister, Irma Haseley of the Town of Lewiston; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Peter' s Lutheran. Church, 6167 Walmore Road,. Sanborn, with the Rev. Ronald Majeroni :officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Wheatfield.

At an early age, he was raised by the Fahrnwald Family, Fred, Rose and Phillip, Emma, on the family farm, in Sanborn, now, the Power View Farm, well known as a prize winning farm for raising Registered Holstein Cattle, grain and hay, where he has worked all his life. He was a Charter Member of the Niagara County Milk Producer's. Mr. Haseley was a lifetime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Walmore.
    He was predeceased, by his wife of 67 years, Elvira M. [ Fedeler ], who died November 11, 2002.
    Surviving are his children, Lois Burkhardt [ late Sam ] , of Lockport, Niagara County, NY; Helen Buerger [ William ] of Sanborn; Roy Haseley [ Eileen ] of Sanborn; Margaret Ewald [ Ralph ] of Ransomville; Howard Haseley [ late Linda ] of Sanborn; Karen Hicks [ Donald ] of Bluff City, TN; Nelson Haseley [ Barbara ], of Sanborn; a sister Irma Haseley, of Sanborn; 23 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
    He was the brother of the late Edwin Haseley, Hilda Wendt and Frances Walck.
    The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, from 7- 9 P.M. Thursday and 1 - 4 & 7 - 9 P.M. Friday.

    She was the widow of Max F. Haseley, who passed away in February of 1988. Mrs. Haseley is  survived by a son, David [Joanne] Haseley, two daughters, Diane M. (late Russell) Frerichs and Shirley J. (Howard) Walck, eight grandchildren Cheryl Newton, Shawn Haseley, Daryl (Rachel) Haseley, Kim (Bruce) DeVantier, Kelli (Randy) Kaminski, Kristen (Greg) Schuey, Brent (Andrea) and Bruce (Jennifer) Walck, also sixteen great grandchildren, one great  great granddaughter, also many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Edwin and  Harvey Haseley, Frances Walck and Hilda Wendt.
    Her family will be present on   Saturday from 10-1:00 PM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6167 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY where funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM, with the Rev. Thomas Thorstad officiating.

    SANBORN - Rudolph J. Kroening, 64, of Fair View Drive, a member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. for 38 years, died in Erie County Medical Center Tuesday (April 7, 1987).
    The lifelong resident of Sanborn was the son of the late Phillip and Minnie (Pfohl) Kroening.
    He was a self-employed truck driver for 40 years and for the past year drove for the Buffalo Fuel Corp. He was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Laymen's League, and was treasurer and assistant bingo chairman of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. He was a former member of the Sanborn Band and a member of the Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association.
    He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Gombert) Kroening; sons, Arthur, Hartley, Darryl and Stephen Kroening of Wheatfield;. daughters, Mrs. John (Eileen) Gieseler and Naomi Kroening of Wheatfield; a brother, Herman Kroening of Sanborn; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Esther) Schneck of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; and 10 grandchildren.

    Herman E. Kroening age 86, was called to his heavenly home on December 22, 2014 while at the Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY on February 12, 1928, he was the son of the late Philip and Minnie (Pfohl) Kroening. Herman was a self employed agricultural farmer in the Town of Wheatfield, and raised various farm animals. For many years he worked in his family's lumber yard with his father and brother.

    Survivors include a daughter, Amy Consier of Newfane; a sister, Esther (dec. Donald) Schneck; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, Norma E. Kroening on July 27, 2003 and a brother, Rudolph Kroening.

    Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME (731-3234), 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Friday from 6-8 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Michael A. Keicher, on Friday at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home, following visitation. A private interment will take place in the Wheatfield Cemetery.     Poughkeepsie - Esther Minnie Kroening Schneck, 84, passed into eternal rest on Saturday August 8, 2020. Esther was born at home in Sanborn New York on December 11, 1935 to Phillip and Minnie Pfohl Kroening. She attended school at St. Peter's Lutheran School in Walmore and Wheatfield School in Sanborn. She graduated from North Tonawanda High School NY in 1954. She was employed as a Secretary in Niagara Falls in the industrial Relations Department of Electro Metallurgical Company, A Division of Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation. She also kept and maintained a beautiful home for many years where she helped raise her children and entertain family and friends. She was married to Donald V. Schneck on August 18, 1956 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, New York by Rev, Sherwood Schroer. She also was an active member of that church. Her husband's employment with IBM resulted in their family traveling to and living in many states including Maine, Washington, California and New York. These relocations gave them wonderful opportunities to visit and enjoy many National Parks. Esther attended and was an active member of various churches all her life, the most recent of which was St. John's Lutheran Church for the past 55 years. During that time she served the church and its members in many capacities. These included Adult Education for Congregational retreats, Vacation Bible School teacher, Bethel Bible Series student and teacher, and various other committees. Together with her husband Don they graciously hosted in their home for 15 years a bible study group which they named "For such a time as this". Throughout her life Esther relied on her personal faith in God thru Jesus Christ. This faith gave her strength, hope and an assurance that she would one day be with her Lord and Savior in heaven. Esther loved going on vacations (especially to Maine), family gatherings of all kinds and celebrating holidays together. She enjoyed cake decorating, creating beautiful floral arrangements and everyone enjoyed her wonderful cooking (especially her famous Chocolate Tortes). Esther was the mother of three children Daniel (Fiancé Milagros), David (wife Rosemarie) and Karen (Husband Richard Hutchings - Deceased). She was Grandmother to 10, Jessica (Husband Jason Smith), Jason Hutchings (Wife Kasey), Daniel Fuentes (Wife Ali), Jacob Schneck (Wife Annie), Tiffany Schneck (Fiancé Thomas), Nathan, Stephanie (Husband Daniel Schroder), Bethany, Christina (Fiancé Taylor and Christopher. Esther was Great Grandmother to 10, Jeremiah, Melina, Sara, Sabelle, Addie, Dakota, Noah, Emery, Willow and Wyatt. Esther was devoted to her family and cared for them for many years. From raising three very young children as she traveled across the country to caring for her dying husband during his courageous battle with cancer she gave herself for others. Above everything else Esther loved her family and they loved and adored her in return. She will indeed be greatly missed.     Clarence A. "Squeaky" Kroening, age 82, of Sanborn, NY, went to be with his Lord on Monday, December 31st, 2007 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY. He was born in Town of Wheatfield, on February 26, 1925, to the late Albert E. and Lizzie (Haseley) Kroening. He married his wife, the former Phyllis Walck, on September 7, 1946. Clarence owned the former Sanborn Milling Company, with his partner Erwin Pfohl for 30 years, and later worked for the Niagara County Highway Department as a parts man and truck driver. He served on the Town of Wheatfield Planning Board for 25 years. Clarence also served as treasurer of the former Bergholz Insurance Company. He was a life member of the St. Peters Lutheran Church, where he held various offices. He was very active in the Lutheran Vespers radio program. He was a past secretary of Lutheran Charities where he received the Ralph W. Loew a Award for recognition of service in social ministries of Western New York. For many years he and his wife rented a large truck and filled it with quilts, used clothing, soap and various hats, over 20,000 quilts, 49 tons of material collected from various Lutheran Church's of WNY and delivered them to the Lutheran World Relief Warehouse in Maryland. He was still involved with this project this past year. In 2004 he received a certificate of appreciation from the Thrivent for Lutherans for his dedication service to his Lord through his work with Lutheran World Relief. Clarence was a past president and life member of the Sanborn Lions Club. He was also a 58 year member of the Sanborn Fire Company and its exempts. He was a Charter Member of the TriCommunity Ambulance Service, where he volunteered as a driver, in the late 50's and early 60's. He enjoyed being with his family very much. His hobbies were fishing and traveling. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Phyllis; three daughters, Linda (John) Pluff of New Jersey, Cheryl (James) Kluss of Sanborn, Sandra (Gary) Iulg of New Jersey; five grandchildren, Tanya (Ryan) Nakai, Todd Kluss, Nicole Pluff, Timothy (Nancy) Iulg, Dawn Iulg; two great grandchildren, Lindsay Ryan Nakai and Drew Tyler Nakai; sisters-in-law, Jane Kroening, Ann Kroening; brother-in-law, Arnold (Mae) Behrens; several nieces, nephews and friends.     Allan H. DeVantier, age 84, of the Town of Wheatfield, August 7, 2013, in the Schoellkopf Health Center. Allan owned and operated Niagara View Farms in the Town of Wheatfield and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Bergholz Fire Company for over 63 years and was a member of the Wheatfield Businessman's Association. Allan was a life-long resident and proud supporter of the Town of Wheatfield.
    He was the husband of the late Joan (nee Stoelting) DeVantier. Beloved father of James DeVantier, Michael DeVantier, Kenneth (Sarah) DeVantier, Paul DeVantier, all of the Town of Wheatfield and Susan (Gerard) Wojcinski of Lockport.     Helen L. Schimschack, 75, of Bergholz, who was a cook in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, for many years, died Tuesday (May 9, 2000) under Hospice care in her sister's Sanborn home after a long illness.
    Born in Lewiston, the former Helen Kroening was a resident of Bergholz for the past 50 years. She was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Bergholz, Holy Ghost Ladies Aide, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Wheatfield Senior Citizens.
    In addition, she had been an active member of the Bergholz Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, serving as an active trustee until recently.
    She enjoyed crafts, needlework and flowers.
    Her husband, Wilbert, died in 1995.
    She is survived by a brother, Clyde Kroening, and a sister, JoAnn Pfohl, both of Sanborn.

    He was a life long resident of the Town of Lewiston, born on April 3, 1930, the son of William and Ella [ DeVantier ] Kroening, where he attended local schools. He had operated the family dairy farm for most of his life, he also was a heavy equipment operator and would work for area contractors.
    He was a member of the Agriculture Stabilization Committee of Niagara County for several years. Clyde was an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company and had also served as a Town Constable for the Town of Lewiston for many years.
    He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the former Sanborn Bowling League. Clyde was an avid golfer, and would winter in Florida, during which time he would work at the Disney World Golf Pro Shop, and as a Tee Off starter for the course.
    He was predeceased by his first wife Maurine Bruss Kroening who died in 1986.
    Surviving is his wife of 15 years, Linda G. [ Peck ] Kroening; a daughter, Linda Bonner, of Niagara Falls, Ont.; a son Russell Kroening, of Belham, TX; a sister, JoAnn [ Delbert ] Pfohl, of Sanborn; a nephew, Mark Pfohl. He was the brother of the late Helen Schimschack.
    The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, SANBORN, 5893 Hoover Road, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM, Wednesday. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 AM, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, with the Rev. Bruce R. Gamache, officiating.     CAMBRIA - John F.. Kroening, 15, of Upper Mountain Road, . former Town. of Cambria supervisor, died Saturday (Nov. 8, 1997) in Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, after being struck by an automobile. He was responding to the scene of an automobile accident with the Cambria Fire Co. on North Ridge Road near Church Road, when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle while crossing the street.
    He was born Oct. 28. 1922, in Niagara Falls, the son of Elmer and Elsie (Walck) Kroening. He and his family moved to Sanborn when he was an ...... Mr. Kroening later to the family farm (sic) in Cambria when he was 8 years old. He attended LaSalle High School.
    Mr. Kroening served as the supervisor of Cambria from 1970 to 1993, and as a councilman for 15 years before becoming supervisor. He also worked at the former Wurlitzer Co. and the National Grinding Wheel for a few years before becoming a full-time dairy farmer.
    He was a charter member of the Cambria Volunteer Fire County, founded in 1944, where he served as chief from 1952. to 1957. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Ridge, and a former member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Pekin, where he served as treasurer from 1952 to 1955 and as chairman in 1969.
    Mr. Kroening was a former director of the Niagara County Extension Service and served on the Niagara County Agricultural Stabilization Committee.
    “He loved our town,” said June, his wife of 45 years. “He always treated the town's money just as if it was his own.”
    A “no-nonsense” sort of guy was how Councilman George J. Bush described Kroening.
    “Farmers don't really talk between the lines,” he said, adding that Kroening had approached him years ago to serve on the town's Recreation Commission. Even though Bush just said he would think about it, the next thing he knew, he had been appointed. Although Kroening wore a pacemaker and had some health problems the past few years, his wife said “you couldn't keep him from doing things” as he still loved riding his tractor and helping out others.
    In addition to his wife, June E. (Scherer) Kroening; he is survived by two sons, Bryan Kroening and Michael Kroening, both of Lockport; two daughters, Laurie Page of Cheektowaga and Shelia Feind of Lockport; three brothers, Herbert Kroening and Martin Kroening, both of Lockport, and Harry Kroening of Sanborn; two sisters, Hazel Hasely (sic) of Sanborn and Doris DeVantier of Niagara Falls; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Raymond Kroening,
    Visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn., where the Cambria Volunteer Fire Co. will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Monday.     Mr. Kroening owned a dairy farm and was later employed with the Operating Engineers Local 463 for over 30 years, before retiring in 1989. He was an active member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church for the past 83 years, holding several offices. He was an exempt member of the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company.

    Mr. Kroening built his own home as well as a cabin in the Southern Tier. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, gardening and woodworking.

    Mr. Kroening was the husband of 63 years to the late Jeanette [Beutel] Kroening, who died on April 30, 2010. He is survived by his children Joyce Kroening, Daniel (Lois) Kroening, Carl (Donna) Kroening, Lee (Debra) Kroening, Diane (Michael) Sweet and Donna Kroening, thirteen grandchildren, Alicia (Ryan), Jeremy (Kerry), Justin (Aleasha), Andrew, Matthew, Rachel, Michelle (Thomas), Ashley, Lauren, Jessica, Jennifer, Kristina (Robert) and Joseph, two step-grandchildren, Teresa and Gina (Mario), two great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Eli, four step-great-grandchildren, Anthony, Julian, Nico and Jada, one brother Martin (Shirly) Kroening, two sisters Hazel (late Alfred) Haseley and Doris (Dennis) DeVantier, and a sister-in-law June Kroening.     He was born on June 8, 1923, in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, the son of the late Edwin H and Edna [ Haseley ] Kroening, and step son of the late Helen [ Haseley ] Kroening and was a graduate of LaSalle High School, in 1942.
    Harold entered the United States Army on February 13, 1943 and was a squad leader serving in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal, prior to his separation from service with the rank of S Sgt., on November 20, 1945. Following his military career he was associated the family run Kroening's Garage in Sanborn for over 45 years, before retiring in 1985.
    He was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, where he has served as an Elder and Head Usher for many years.
    He was an honorary member of the Sanborn Fire Company, and had been a member of the Sanborn Fire Co. Band. He served as a member of the Sanborn Library Board of Trustee's for several years, and was a member of the Sanborn American Legion and the Sanborn Area Historical Society.
    Surviving is his wife of 60 years, the former Janet E. Pack, a daughter, Amy [ Ross ] Folmsbee, of Sanborn; a daughter-in-law Kathy Kroening-Armstrong, of Rochester, Monroe County, NY; a sister, Gladys [ Benjamin ] Haseley, of Sanborn; a brother, Gilbert [ Norma ] Kroening, of Ransomville, NY; 4 grandchildren, Jonathan Folmsbee; David, Melissa and Laura Kroening, an aunt, Audrey Haseley, of Calabash, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was predeceased by his daughter Sharon Kroening and his son, Bruce Kroening.
    The family will be present at Tuesday 3 - 7 PM at RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, SANBORN, 5893 Hoover Road.
    Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 716 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY. at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, with Rev. Evan Gaertner officiating. Burial will be in the Niagara Falls Memorial Park, Lewiston, Niagara County, NY.
    Should friends desire memorials may be made in Harold's memory to Grace Lutheran Church or the charity of one's choice.

    Gladys L. Haseley

    Of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital.  She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on June 19, 1925, a daughter of the late Edwin H. (Helen) and Edna [Haseley] Kroening.
    Mrs. Haseley was a graduate of LaSalle High School.
    She was the bookkeeper with Pils Service in Lockport for many years.
    Mrs. Haseley was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Walmore, where she taught Sunday School, was active in the Women's Group and quilted for Lutheran World Relief.
    She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid bowler.
    Mrs. Haseley was the wife of the late Benjamin W. Haseley, who passed away in 2007.
    She is survived by her children,  Jacqueline (Clifford) Blank, Donna (late Frank) Licursi, Terry ( Debra) Haseley, Patrice (John)  Elnicki, a sister in law Norma Kroening,  also  seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren,  many nieces and nephews.
    She was the sister of the late Harold (Janet), Gilbert, Sharon and Richard Kroening.
    Everyone is invited to attend her funeral services which will be held on Monday at 1:00 PM  at St. Peter's  Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY,  with the Rev.  Kurt Jensen  officiating.
    Interment at St. Peter's  Lutheran Cemetery Wheatfield, NY.
    Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in her name to St. Peter 's Lutheran Church  or Lutheran World Relief Fund.

    K. Gilbert Kroening, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, in Buffalo General Hospital. He was born in Sanborn, on February 25, 1935, the son of the late Edwin H. and Helen (Haseley) Kroening.Mr. Kroening was a graduate of Wilson High School, Buffalo State Teacher College and Niagara University. He was an industrial arts teacher and served as an administrator at Niagara Wheatfield High School for 37 years, before retiring in 1995. Mr. Kroening was a member of the Sanborn Fire Co. Band for over 60 years and an active member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church,North Ridge. He served on the Niagara Wheatfield's 50th Anniversary Committee and was an honorary member of the Sanborn Fire Co. His life centered around his family and friends. He was always there to lend a helping hand for those in need. He enjoyed gardening and was an antique car enthusiast.Mr. Kroening is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Norma (Rohring), they were married on June 16, 1956; also two sons, Brent M. (Lynn)Kroening of Wheatfield and Todd R. Kroening of Buffalo, Erie County, NY; one daughter, Wendy L. (David) Warchocki of Wheatfield; five grandchildren,Joshua, Joelle, Jennifer, Steven and Christian; one sister, Gladys (late Benjamin) Haseley; and many nieces and nephews.     SANBORN - Miss Sharon L. Kroening, 24, of 2849 Saunders Settlement Road, a physical education teacher at Niagara-Wheatfield Central School, died unexpectedly at her home Sunday (Dec. 22, 1968).
    Miss Kroening, a native of Sanborn, was born Jan. 25, 1944, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Kroening, owners of the Kroening Garage here. She attended the Sanborn public school, and Niagara- Wheatfield High School, graduating in 1962.
    She was a graduate of the State University of Buffalo, in 1966, and had been working there toward a master's degree in health and physical education.
    She was a Sunday school teacher at Calvary Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, until two years ago. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Niagara-Wheatfield District Education Association and the New York State Teachers Association.
    In addition to her parents, survivors include two brothers, Gilbert and Harold Kroening; a sister, Mrs. Benjamin (Gladys) Haseley; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Hu1da Haseley, and several nieces and nephews.
    Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, the Rev. Theodore Menter officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Walmore. Friends may call at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home, with the family present from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday
