A beloved husband, father and grandfather. Survived by his wife of 70 years, Margaret ‘Jean’. His sons, Thomas (Candace) Schultz, Stephen (Jill) Schultz, and David (Stephanie) Schultz. 10 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Pre-deceased by his brother Richard and his sister Carol Kreib. A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family. He was born at Deaconess Hospital,Buffalo NY due to neonatal respiratory complications he wasn’t expected to live. While attending LaSalle High School, Wally served in the “Aircraft Warning Service” from late 1943 to early 1944. His observation post was a small hut located on top of the Sanborn Fire Hall. In August 1944, Wally enlisted in the Navy at the old post office building in downtown Buffalo, followed by Boot Camp at Sampson Naval Training Station atSeneca Lake, NY and a 12 week Radio School at Bainbridge MD. He served in thePacific Theater aboard the USS Arkansas BB33 and the USS Baldwin DD 624. In June1946, Wally returned to Niagara Falls, graduated from LaSalle High School andwent to work as a Mail Boy for American Salesbook Co. (later became MooreBusiness Forms). Spring 1947, he transferred to the NY National Guard and drilledat the Armory on Main Street. After his discharge from the National Guard, Wallygraduated from the Detroit College of Traffic Management and worked at Autolitewhere he met, then married the love of his life, Margaret Jean MacAllister.Following Autolite, he worked in the traffic departments at Hooker Chemical andThe Upson Company in Lockport. While at Upson, Wally was hired part-timeby Franklin Traffic Service (FTS) in Sanborn. After Upson closed he worked at FTS full time. Where he retired after working for many years. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran church in Niagara Falls. Wally enjoyed hunting with his family. In his later years if he shot a deer, over the two-way radio he’d say, “Boys I have work for you, but first, bring me a sandwich and beer”. He and Jean spent summers with family and friends at their homes in Saranac Lake and later on Lake Ontario. In his retirement Wally enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and a few weeklong fishing trips in Canada. He will be dearly missed but his legacy continues through his family.
