Mrs. Zastrow
Dies, Age 69
NORTH TONAWAN DA —
Mrs. Ida (Strassburg) Zastrow, 69, a former resident of the Town of Wheat field, died in Buffalo Friday (June 18, 1965) after a long illness.

Mrs. Zastrow is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John Eileen Owens, Niagara Falls; two sons, Glenwood W. Zastrow, Youngstown, and Elton F. Zastrow, Niagara Falls; four sisters, Mrs. Burt Moore and Mrs. Edward Schroeder, both of Buffalo, Mrs. Hilda Ashenbach. this city, and Mrs. Paul Mueller. Niagara Falls; a brother, Walter Strassburg, this city, and nine grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Frethold Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home Sunday at 2 p.m.. Rev. Clarence W. Rabe officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Zastrow, 21, has been reported
missing on the Destroyer Escort
Fiske while participating in action
against the enemy. The Fiske
was sunk in the Atlantic in the
early part of August according to
a telegram received by Mr. and
Mrs. Fred H. Zastrow of RFD 2,
Nash road, North Tonawanda from
Vice Admiral Randall Jacobs, the
Chief of Navy Personnel.
Entering the service in February
1943, Melvin trained at Samp-
son Naval Training Center and at
Norfolk, Va., before being as-
signed the Fiske. He had attended
North Tonawanda schoolls and
had worked for Buffalo Aarms
Corp. before entering the service.

Glenwood W. Zastrow, 72, of Williams Street, a past commander of Lake Ontario Post 313, Veterans of Foreign Wars, died Sunday (June 7, 1998) in St. Mary's Manor Nursing Home, Niagara Falls, after a brief illness. A native of Niagara Falls, Zastrow was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School. He moved to Youngstown in 1953. He served in Europe with the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1949. Zastrow was a graphite machinist for Carbon Graphite Group for 43 years until he retired in 1995. He was a member and elder of St. John Lutheran Church; a life member and past commander of the VFW Post, which he also served as chaplain for 20 years; president of Branch 471, Aid Association for Lutherans , for 12 years; past president of St. John Singles and Doubles Club; and a member of the Youngstown Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, the former Shirley I. Amsdill; three sons, William F. of Lakewood, Colo., Stephen R. of Corpus Christi, TX, and John C.; and a brother, Elton of Niagara Falls. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. John Lutheran Church, 420 Lockport St. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Life Legacy

Marla B. (Zastrow) Hansen, lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital. She was 51. She was born in Lewiston on February 28, 1964, a daughter of the late Elton F. and Berylmarie (Sawyer) Zastrow. She attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle Senior High School in 1982. Marla then attended Buffalo State College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Education.
She was a longtime member of Riverside Presbyterian Church and she enjoyed reading (especially Stephen King), photography, wine collecting and attending independent wrestling events but most of all she was a loving wife and mother.
Marla is survived by her devoted husband of 28 years, Francis “Frank” Hansen and two daughters: Janine (Michael Caldarelli) Hansen and Jennifer (Andy Winters) Hansen. She is also survived by two siblings: Mark and Marshall Johnson. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother Martin Johnson.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 A.M. with Pastor Laura Norris-Buisch of Riverside Presbyterian Church officiating.
