    Machinists Mate 3/c Melvin H.
    Zastrow, 21, has been reported
    missing on the Destroyer Escort
    Fiske while participating in action
    against the enemy. The Fiske
    was sunk in the Atlantic in the
    early part of August according to
    a telegram received by Mr. and
    Mrs. Fred H. Zastrow of RFD 2,
    Nash road, North Tonawanda from
    Vice Admiral Randall Jacobs, the
    Chief of Navy Personnel.
    Entering the service in February
    1943, Melvin trained at Samp-
    son Naval Training Center and at
    Norfolk, Va., before being as-
    signed the Fiske. He had attended
    North Tonawanda schoolls and
    had worked for Buffalo Aarms
    Corp. before entering the service.
