Otto A. Strassburg, 81, of 38 North End Ave., Kenmore, died Tuesday in Meyer Memorial Hospital, Buffalo, after a lengthy illness.
A retired carpenter, Mr. Strassburg was a member of Newfane Lodge 947, F&AM. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Alice Bailey of Newfane, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Four sisters and a brother also survive.

Struck by an automobile early Sunday morning while walking along a Lockport highway, Benjamin F. Strassburg, 55 years old, a former North Tonawandan, died several hours later in the Lockport City Hospital. According to police Strassburg was critically injured when he was hit on the Chestnut Ridge road, a few miles outside the Lockport city limits. Driver of the car was identified as Wallace Worden of 251 Caledonia street, Lockport.
Born in the town of Wheatfield, Strassburg lived most of his life here. He had been living at 32 Chestnut street, Lockport, for the past four years. He is survived by two brothers and seven sisters. The brothers are Otto of Kenmore and Walter, of Wheatfield. The sisters include the Mesdames Walter Suter, William Wurl and Edward Schroeder of North Tonawanda, Fred Zastrow and Norman Achenbach of Wheatfield, Burt Moore of Buffalo and Paul Mueller of Niagara Falls.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Achenbach residence on the Ward road. Burial will be in the Frieden's Cemetery. The Rev. Theophil Twente will officiate

Mrs. Schroeder was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of North Tonawanda. She was the wife of the late Edward F. Schroeder who died in 1956. Retired radio and television announcer John F. "Jack" Mahl , who was known for his booming voice and his trademark sign-off, "That's all from Mahl ," died Sunday (May 18, 2003) in Buffalo Veterans Affairs Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 76. He was a City of Tonawanda native and a 1944 graduate of Tonawanda High School. During the post-World War II occupation of Germany, he served as a communications sergeant with the Army's 78th Infantry Division in Bremen, where he worked as a special-events news announcer for Armed Forces Radio. His local radio announcing career began in 1946 at WHLD in Niagara Falls, where he worked as a staff announcer and news editor. He then worked as news editor and announced for WKBW radio in Buffalo from 1950 to 1953, hosting a late-night music program called "Spotlight Serenade." In the meantime, he received a bachelor's degree from the University of Buffalo in 1952. From 1953 to 1968, he was staff announcer and television personality for WGR radio and TV. During that time, he was known as the "Atlantic Weatherman." Dressed as an Atlantic gas station attendant, he would end every segment with a salute as he said: "That's all from Mahl ." He was the midday news anchor at WEBR from 1976 to 1981 and then news director and afternoon news anchor at WBUF, where he acted as announcer for the "Mark Russell Comedy Special," which was televised nationally five times a year. Buffalo Broadcast Pioneers honored Mahl 's broadcasting service in 1997. In 2000, he was inducted into the Western New York Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Mahl ended his 55-year broadcasting career in 2001 when he retired from WNED-AM. A former resident of North Tonawanda, the Town of Tonawanda and Williamsville, he was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, City of Tonawanda, and a current member of First Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Tonawanda. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, the former Barbara L. Strachan; a daughter, Lisa B. Blackley of Ashland, Ohio; four sons, John F. III of Greensburg, Pa., Dr. Thomas C. of Williamsville, Robert D. of Buffalo and Daniel J. of Cheektowaga; and seven grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Trinity Lutheran Church, 1570 Niagara Falls Blvd., Town of Tonawanda. Private burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.

Zastrow, 72, of Williams Street, a past commander of Lake Ontario Post 313, Veterans of Foreign Wars, died Sunday (June 7, 1998) in St. Mary's Manor Nursing Home, Niagara Falls, after a brief illness. A native of Niagara Falls, Zastrow was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School. He moved to Youngstown in 1953. He served in Europe with the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1949. Zastrow was a graphite machinist for Carbon Graphite Group for 43 years until he retired in 1995. He was a member and elder of St. John Lutheran Church; a life member and past commander of the VFW Post, which he also served as chaplain for 20 years; president of Branch 471, Aid Association for Lutherans , for 12 years; past president of St. John Singles and Doubles Club; and a member of the Youngstown Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, the former Shirley I. Amsdill; three sons, William F. of Lakewood, Colo., Stephen R. of Corpus Christi, TX, and John C.; and a brother, Elton of Niagara Falls. CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO — Gordon Philip Mueller, 77, of Cape Girardeau, MO, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Lutheran Home. He was born July 21, 1933 in the Town of Wheatfield, New York, the son of the late Paul and Edna (Strassburg) Mueller.

He attended Holy Ghost Lutheran School and Niagara Falls Senior High School. In 1955 he graduated from Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, IL. He served the Lutheran Church for forty years as a teacher, musician and administrator at congregations in Cape Girardeau, MO, McCook, NE and St. Louis, MO.

He is survived by his wife, Lida; two sons, Jeffrey Mueller of Muskogee, OK and Thomas (Pam) Mueller of Houston, TX; four grandchildren; one great-grandson, Hayden; five sisters, Madalyn (late Larry) Halt, Shirley Sexsmith, Velma (late Werner) Achenbach, Nancy (William) Lange and Judith (Paul) Janowsky; also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by brothers, Rev. Kenneth (Mary), Paul (Barbara), Leslie (Jackie) and Rollin; and sister, Beverly Mueller.

He was a member of Lodge 346, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, in Niagara Falls, where he served as exalted ruler for three years.
Mr. Mueller and his wife fulfilled their lifelong goal of retiring to Florida in 1997.

NORTH TONAWANDA - Longtime North Tonawanda resident Rollin R. Mueller, a General Motors Corp. retiree, died Friday in Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 64.
Born in Wheatfield, Mr. Mueller was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.
He worked at GM for more than 30 years, retiring as an inspector at the Town of Tonawanda plant.
Mr. Mueller moved to Lakeland about nine years ago and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church there. He was a longtime member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, where he served as an elder.
He enjoyed golfing, NASCAR and deep-sea fishing.
