  1. 1.  HERMANSON, Clinton Sanborn was born on 5 May 1917 in Sanborn, Niagara County, NY; died on 5 Apr 1979 in North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY.

    SANBORN - Clinton (Sam) Hermanson, 61, of 5791 Buffalo St., former Niagara County highway superintendent, died today (April 5, 1979) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after an apparent heart attack. He was a member of a pioneer Sanborn family and was the son of the late LeRoy and Helen Sanborn Hermanson. He had served during World War II with the U.S. Army in the Pacific and had been employed by the Niagara County Highway Department since 1945. He retired as highway superintendent in 1977 and had served as the second Niagara County fire coordinator from 1964 until 1969. He was a life member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. and had served as chief from 1958 to 1959. He was president of the fire company in 1962 and had served for many years as band manager. He was a member of the Western New York Fire Chief's Association, the Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association, and the Niagara County Police and Judges Association and the Niagara and Erie County Planning Board, and was past commander of the Sanborn American Legion Post 969.
    He is survived by his wife, Hilda Strasburg Hermanson; two brothers, Charles W. Hermanson of Sanborn and Clair D. Hermanson of Watkins Glen, N.Y.; one sister, Mrs. Howard (Irene) Carico of Hubert, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Gordon L. Hermanson.
    Funeral services will be held at the Rhoney Funeral Home, Saturday at 1 p.m.. with the Rev. Kenneth E. Traxler officiating. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery. Friends may call from 8 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Friday. The family said contributions to the Sanborn United Methodist Church will be acceptable as tributes. Members of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. will conduct memorial services Friday at 7 p.m. and members of the Sanborn American Legion Post 969 will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
