Albert Stoelting Dies at Bergholtz
Funeral of Well Known Resident on Thursday Afternoon.
BERGHOLTZ, July 22.-Albert Stoelting, 59, died Monday at his home on the Sy road after a year's illness. He had been a well known carpenter for many years. He built the Holy Ghost church in 1907, of which he was a very active member, and was elected a deacon by that congregation many times. He was born in this village and lived here all his life. He was well known throughout Niagara county. He is survived by his wife, Anna Jagow Stoelting, four sons, Herbert, Arnold, Theodore and Alvin and three daughters, Mrs. Edwin Mueller, Mrs. Erick Walck and Alice, all of this village, five grandchildren and two brothers, Julius Stoelting of this village, and Herman Stoelting of North Tonawanda, and one sister, Mrs. John Strassburg, of Sanborn, besides a large circle of friends and relatives. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the house and half an hour later at the Holy Ghost church in Bergholtz. Burial will be in the Holy Ghost cemetery The Rev. John Kuchenbecker will conduct the services.

Otto W. Stoelting, 54 years old, died yesterday at his home on the Baker Hill road, town of Cambria, after a prolonged illness. Mr. Stoelting was born in the town of Wheatfield and lived there and in Cambria all his life. He is survived by a wife, Anna; one son, Reinhold; a daughter, Mrs. Rudolph Jagow, Bergholz; three brothers, Albert and Julius Stoelting, Bergholz, and Herman Stoelting, North Tonawanda and one sister, Mrs. John Strassburg, Sanborn. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence and half an hour later from the St. Andrew's Evangelical church at Pekin. Rev. SANBORN, Nov. 8 - Herman W. Stoelting, 77, of the Upper Mountain road, died suddenly last evening at his home, following a heart attack. Born in Bergholtz, Mr. Stoelting was a lifelong resident of the area. He was employed by the Wurlitzer Manufacturing company, North Tonawanda for the last 25 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church. North Tonawanda. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elsie Witkop Stoelting; two sons, Clarence, Sanborn, and Allen Stoelting, North Tonawanda; two daughters, Mrs. Leo Scholz, North Tonawanda, and Mrs. Leo Peryea, Sanborn; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Julius Stoelting, Bergholtz, and a sister, Mrs. Augusta Strassburg, Sanborn. TOWN OF WHEATFIELD - Erwin C. Stoelting, 63, of 2403 Niagara Road, died Monday (Nov. 2, 1970) at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of this community where he operated the Stoelting Machine Inc. since 1941. He was a member of the Bergholtz Volunteer Fire County, a past assistant fire chief of the company, a member of the Town of Wheatfield Business Association, Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association, a life member of the Western New York and the New York State Volunteer Fireman's Associations and a member of the Niagara County Fire Chiefs Association.
He is survived by his widow, the former Ruth Stenzel; two, sons, Marvin E. of Sanborn, and Wayne C., of this community, a daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Nancy) Wienke of Sanborn; and seven grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Stoelting; and two sisters, Mrs. Phillip Milleville, and Mrs. Wallace Haseley, all of Town of Wheatfield.

Stoelting, 86, died Saturday (March 18, 1995) in his home on Stoelting Street.
He was born in Wheatfield, lived there all of his life and was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.
Stoelting was an exempt member of Bergholz Fire Company. He also volunteered for many years with Tri-Community Ambulance Service.
He was a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League and had been a member of the Bergholz Fire Company Band in the 1930s and '40s.
Stoelting worked on his family's dairy farm until 1948, when he went to work at American District Steam Co. in Buffalo. He retired in 1972.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, the former Mathilda Stenzel; a son, Duane A. of Bergholz; three daughters, Helen M. Haseley of Walmore, Margaret E. Jensen of Tucson, AZ., and Mary Lou Milroy of Niagara Falls; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren

BERGHOLZ - Cordia (Stoelting) Haseley, of Stoelting Street, died Thursday (May 14, 1987) at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. She was 70. She was born at her homestead in Bergholz and was a lifelong resident of the hamlet. Mrs. Haseley enjoyed baking and decorating special cakes for the community. She was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Survivors include her husband, Wallace Haseley; sons, Roger, Willard and Wilfred Haseley, all of Bergholz; daughters, Marlene Langhart of Long Island, N.Y., Lorna Wentzel of Michigan and Florine Wilkins of Maine; a brother, Arthur Stoelting of Bergholz; 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. GRAND ISLAND — Olga E. Wermuth, in her 100th year, of Youngstown, died Saturday, April 13, 2013, in Elderwood Health Care at Riverwood on Grand Island, NY.

Olga was born April 25, 1912 in Sanborn, NY, the daughter of the late John and Augusta (Stoelting) Strasburg and graduated from Holy Ghost Lutheran Church School. She married Frederick A. Wermuth on June 21, 1941. Frederick predeceased her on April 3, 1971.

Olga was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Youngstown for many years. A homemaker, she was a devoted mother and Christian. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and quilting.

She is survived by her children, Carol Wermuth of Chillicothe, OH, Dorothy (William) Hagan of Vancouver, WA, Sharon (Ray) Ingram of Geneseo, NY, and Neil (Mara) Wermuth of Glouster, MA; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Burnett Strasburg; and four sisters, Hilda Hermanson, Elena Read, Alma Herbst and Ida Schworm.

Robert N. Strasburg, a retired Niagara Steel Finishing supervisor, died Monday in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was 89.
Mr. Strasburg was born in Sanborn and attended Holy Ghost Lutheran School and Hoover Road Elementary School.
He was employed as a supervisor at Niagara Steel Finishing for 41 years, retiring in 1981.
He was an exempt member of Sanborn Fire Company and had been a member of its band for many years.
His wife of 55 years, the former Ann Hecker, died in 1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan Dunlavy of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Janice E. Brewer of Rochester; two sons, R. Dwight of Groveland, and Bruce of Niagara Falls; three sisters, Olga Wermuth of Youngstown, Hilda Hermanson of Sanborn, and Alma Herbst of Lockport; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

LOCKPORT — Alma S. Herbst, age 92, of Lockport, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Eastern Niagara Memorial Hospital in Newfane.

Mrs. Herbst was born on February 10, 1920 in Sanborn, NY, the daughter of the late John and Augusta (Stoelting) Strasburg. On January 11, 1947, she married the late Elmore Herbst, who died in January of 1992. For 40 years, together with her husband, they operated Maplehurst Farm on Ridge Road in the Town of Cambria.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge, and a past member of its Ladies Aid Society. Alma also enjoyed greeting guests at Maplehurst Bed & Breakfast. She loved baking, quilting, tatting and gardening.

She is survived by two daughters, Gail (David) Miller of Medina, NY and Jill (Ronald) Bargiel of Huntingdon, PA; two sons, John Herbst of Lexington, KY and Mark Herbst of Lockport; her grandchildren, Marshall Herbst (KY), Alicia (Drew) Mease (SC), and Benjamin Bargiel (PA); three great-grandchildren; a sister, Olga (Strasburg) Wermuth of Youngstown; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Robert and Burnett Strasburg; and sisters, Hilda Hermanson, Elena Read and Ida Schworm.

She was employed for over 25 years as an executive secretary for the Bell Telephone Company, prior to her retirement in 1987. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, NY, the Telephone Pioneers of America, the American Legion Post 969, Ladies Auxiliary, Sanborn, NY and the International Association of Administrative Assistants.

Mrs. Schworm was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Lewis H. Schworm, who died on May 6, 1999. Surviving are four sisters, Olga Wermuth of Youngstown, NY, Hilda Hermanson of Sanborn, NY, Alma Herbst of Lockport, NY and Elena Read of Sanborn, NY; a brother, Robert Strasburg of Niagara Falls, NY; also by several nieces and nephews.
