    John G. Ewald
    John G. Ewald, 61 years old, died Sunday at the DeGraff Memorial hospital, after a long illness. He was removed to the hospital about 10 days ago. Ewald was born in Martinsville and was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda. He was employed at the Buffalo Steam Pump works for many years and at the time of his last illness was in the employ of the Rand company of North Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late residence at 1231 Payne avenue and at 2:30 from St. Paul's Church in Gratwick. Burial will be in Elmlawn. Surviving are six sons, Martin, August (sic), John R., Herman and Alfred Ewald and Carl Duwe, all of this city; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Bluemeister of Martinsville; and Miss(sic) Elma Malow of Detroit, and one sister, Miss Esther Ewald of North Tonawanda.

    EWALD - Hugo A. Ewald, 88, of 654 Niagara Falls Blvd., Tuesday (July 28, 1970) at his home. A lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, he was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Rescue Fire Co. No. 5, and the North Tonawanda Firemen's Benevolent Association. He was formerly employed as a machinist at the Columbus-McKinnon Chain Corp., retiring in 1955. Husband of the late Emma Dueger Ewald, who died in 1963, he is survived by two sons, Gilbert K. and Donad S. Ewald, both of North Tonawanda; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Wattengel Funeral Home, Inc., 307 Oliver St., North Tonawanda, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. E. Werner Weinreich will officiate. Burial in Friedens Cemetery.

    He was a lifelong resident of this city. Mr. Ewald, 86, was employed by Remington Rand Office Systems Division of Sperry Rand Corp. as a supervisor of the tool and dye department for 54 years, retiring in 1961.
    He was a member of St. Peter American Lutheran Church, having served on the church council for 25 years. He was also a member of the North Tonawanda Senior Citizens.
    He was the husband of the late Minnie M. (Harms) Ewald, who died in 1958.
    Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William (Ruth) Stange of the Town of Wheatfield and Mrs. Richard (Jane) Keil of this city; a son; Glenwood G. Ewald of Blue Bell, Pa.; two brothers, the Rev. Alfred Ewald, doctor of divinity of St. Paul, MN, and the Rev. Carl Duwe of Richmond Heights, OH; two sisters, Mrs. Elma Marlow and Mrs. Virgil Ragsdale, both of Detroit, Mich.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul American Lutheran Church, Bryant and Thompson Streets. The Rev. Luther Lautenschlager will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
    Friends may call today and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wattengel Funeral Home, 307 Oliver St.

    Hilda E. Milleville, a member of St. James Lutheran Church, died Tuesday (Aug. 15, 2000) in Northgate Health Care Facility. The former Hilda Pfitzinger was born in Columbia, Mich., and moved to Pendleton in 1925. She moved to Wheatfield in 1936, and had been a resident of the facility since last year.
    Mrs. Milleville worked as a finisher for the former Wurlitzer Co. in North Tonawanda for several years. For most of her life, however, she was a homemaker. Her husband, William, died in 1962.
    Survivors include three sons, Kent, Dennis and Dean; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday in St. James Lutheran Church, Niagara Road and Rohr Street, Bergholz. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Park, Amherst.

    Walter G. Belling, age 85, of Pendleton, passed away Friday November 6, 2009 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Mr. Belling was born March 16, 1924, son of the late Henry and Auguste (nee Ewald) Belling. Mr. Belling attended Tonawanda High School, he served in the United States Army during WWII, he was a PFC with the 511th Airborne Signal Corps, serving from January 23, 1943 until his discharge on February 17, 1946. Mr. Belling was a self employed contractor, he was the Town of Pendleton Building Inspector, he also had worked in the display department for Sears and Roebuck. Mr. Belling was a active life time member of St. Martin Evangelical Lutheran Church, he was chairman of the renovation committee, in 1985 remodeling St. Martin Church, he designed and made the wooden cross for the church's altar. He headed the committee to build the addition to Pendleton's Historical Society where he also taught wood carving classes. He was a member of the Niagara Frontier all Airborne Chapter and it's Honor Guard. Mr. Belling was a expert wood carver, specializing in birds, he had built two homes and most of the furniture in them.     AMHERST — Earl L. Belling, age 79, of Amherst, passed away February 7, 2012, following a prolonged illness. Mr. Belling was born June 25, 1932 in Amherst, son of the late Henry and Agusta Belling.

    Mr. Belling was a carpenter by trade. He worked for Richardson Boat Company in North Tonawanda. He also had worked for several homebuilders where he did ruff construction for new homes.

    Mr. Belling was a lifelong member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. He also had enjoyed hunting and fishing.

    Beloved husband of Suzanne J. (nee Atwater) Belling of Amherst; father of Connie Sue Gollhardt of FL, Paul Alan Belling of North Tonawanda and Jody Lauren Belling; grandfather of Amanda Ruth, Andrea Mae, Alan Joseph and Aiden Michael; brother of Leonard Belling, Eager (Nancy) Belling and Ellen (Tom) Seeley; predeceased by six other siblings; also survived by nieces and nephews.

    The family will greet relatives and friends WEDNESDAY from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St. Martin Lutheran Church, 322 Old Falls Blvd., where funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM. The Rev. R. She was a long time active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, having served as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Altar Guild, Choir and Deacon. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, newspapers and Classical music. Dearest mother of Russell Bowman of the Town of Wheatfield; grandmother of Mitchell (Dora) Bowman of Gaffney, SC; great-grandmother of Carrie and Daniel Bowman; sister-in-law of Betty Ewald and Florence Proefrock; also survived by a niece, Barbara Stahlman and a nephew, Paul Ewald; as well as various other relatives and many cherished friends.A Memorial Service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church at the convenience of the family.
