    Mrs. Josephine Genet Dies in Lockport
    Mrs. Josephine Genet, 70, of the Gasport-Hartland Rd., Gasport, died today in Lockport Memorial Hospital. A native of St. Johnsburg, Mrs. Genet is survived by her husband, William; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Seelbinder of Gasport and Mrs. George Snider of Buffalo; a sister, Mrs. Herman Sattelberg of North Tonawanda, three brothers, Fred Schmidt of Lockport and Otto and Philip Schmidt of North Tonawanda, and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Gasport and of the Ladies Aid Society of the church. Friends may call at the Bream Funeral Home, Gasport, from 7 to 10 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m. tomorrow. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Zion Lutheran Church, Gasport, with the Rev. Paul Nemeschy officiating. Burial will be in Hartland Cemetery.

    Benjamin K. Schmidt, 58, of Wurl St., Bergholtz, died this morning in Memorial Hospital, Niagara Falls, after a short illness. He was a lifelong resident of the town of Wheatfield. He is survived by his wife, Ida, nee Haseley; three sons, Harold at home, Clarence of Niagara Falls and Richard of Tonawanda; three daughters, Mrs. Lester Schumacher and Mrs. Tony Jensen of Tonawanda and Mrs. Ervin Moll of Lockport; three brothers, Philip and Otto of Tonawanda and Fred of Newfane; two sisters, Mrs. Herman Sattelberg of Wheatfield and Mrs. Josephine Ginet of Lockport. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. from the Hamp Funeral Home, 37 Adam St. Burial will be in the Holy Ghost cemetery.

    SCHMIDT - Otto T. Schmidt, 79, of 7353 Ward Road, Town of Wheatfield, Thursday (Oct. 14, 1971) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Mr. Schmidt was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, a retired employe of Richardson Boat Co., and a charter member of St. Johnsburg Fire Co. He is survived by his wife, Ella (Stenzel) Schmidt; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (June) Wolf of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Eugene (Lucille) Martin and Mrs. George (Delores) Boddy, both of North Tonawanda; three sons, Lloyd Schmidt and Burton Schmidt, both of North Tonawanda, and Marvin Schmidt of Columbia, S.C.; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Philip Schmidt of North Tonawanda, and a sister, Mrs. Louise Sattelberg of the Town of Wheatfield. Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., North Tonawanda, until noon Saturday. Services will be held in St. John Lutheran Church Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Interment in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

    Harold "Smitty" Schmidt, 66, who was an engineer with Conrail from 1964 to 1995, died Thursday (Oct. 14, 1999) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, after a brief illness. Schmidt, also known as "Hans," was born in Wheatfield and was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School, Niagara Falls. He was a softball coach with the Cub Scouts and a catcher for the St. James Lutheran Church team in his younger days. A member of the Operating Engineers union, he worked on the construction of Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston; the Grand Island Bridges; and the Niagara Power Project, Lewiston. In addition, he was a co-owner of the former Bergholz Garage. A lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church, he held various positions, including representative of the finance committee and an elder. He also was a charter member of the Wheatfield Business Association. Schmidt enjoyed fishing, bowling and euchre. A lifelong resident of Wheatfield, he also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. His first wife, Jeanette Blaise Schmidt, died in 1975. Survivors include his second wife, the former D. Jean VanNorman; three sons, Lawrence of Fayetteville, Ga., Charles and Dennis; a daughter, Katherine Harrison of Aurora, Colo.; a stepson, Scott Nestler of Los Angeles; a stepdaughter, Lori Nestler of Amherst; two sisters, Hilda Jensen of North Tonawanda and Lavina Moll; and 10 grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. James Lutheran Church, Niagara Road and Rohr Street. Burial will be in Acacia Park, Pendleton.

Born in the Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY on May 27, 1920 to the late Otto and Ella (Stenzel) Schmidt. A life-long resident of the town, she was a life long member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Wheatfield. June was employed as a bus driver for many years, in the Niagara Wheatfield School District. She was a member of the Bergholz Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family.Survivors include two children, Ronald (Carlene) Wolf and Beverly (Varoujan) Sakalian, both of Wheatfield; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. June was predeceased by her husband, Clarence W. Wolf on April 23, 1998. They were united in marriage December 10, 1938; a son, Gerald Wolf on October 11, 2008; three brothers, Lloyd, Marvin and Burton Schmidt; and two sisters, Lucille Martin and Delores Boddy.Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.     War Veteran Dies Suddenly
    TONAWANDA, March 20 - Robert H. Sattelberg, 30, Errick road, Town of Wheatfield, died, suddenly last evening while attending services at St. John's Lutheran church, St. Johnsburg. Mr. Sattelberg was a lifelong resident of Wheatfield and a veteran of World War 2. He was employed by the Carborundum company, Niagara Falls, for more than ten years where he was a supervisor. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran church, St. Johnsburg, and the St. of the Johnsburg Volunteer Fire company and Tonawandas Post 64, American Legion. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sattelberg, Wheatfield; two brothers, Chester, North Tonawanda, and Roger, Town of Wheatfield. The body is at the Hamp Funeral home, 37 Adam street, Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Walter J. Thiemecke will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by Tonawandas American Legion post.

    Charles Kenneth Schmidt, 67, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 23, 2022. Known to many as Charlie, Chuck, Crackers or Schmitty. He will be remembered for his smile and jokes. Charlie was a life-long member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Bergholz, where he served as Vice-President, Treasurer, Choir Director, and Sunday School teacher. Charlie was the former co-owner and operator of Bergholz Garage, and former owner of Kroening's Garage, in Sanborn. He was also a member of the Bergholz Fire Company, where he was a former chief, and a former EMT with Tri-Community Ambulance Service, Inc. Charlie was the son of the late Harold and Jeanette M. Schmidt. Step-son of Jean Schmidt. Sweetie to his wife of 42 years, Laurie (nee Sprenger); Dad to his two children, Wayne (Molly) and Jeanette; Grampa to his two grandchildren, Maxx and Layla; brother to his three siblings, Dennis (Laurie), Larry (Lori), and Kathy (Leighton) Harrison, and step-brother to Lori (Brian) Burgin and Scott Nestler. Brother-in-law to Cindy (John) Kosek; Uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 28th. from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Randy Kaminska, on Sunday, May 29th. at 12:00 p.m. at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Road, in Wheatfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholz Fire Company, or Tri-Community Ambulance Service, Inc.

    Pamela Sattelberg Muncie, age 64, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Wake-Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Born to Helen (Martin) and the late Chester Sattelberg. She attended North Tonawanda Schools.

    Surviving are her husband, Roger Muncie; a daughter , Lisa (Jeremy) Jones; a son, Christopher (Ashton) Muncie; 3 grandchildren, Jasmine, Hayden and Nathan; her mother, Helen Sattelberg; 2 sisters, Paula Kopf and Phyllis (Brad) Phillips; a brother, James (Geri) Sattelberg; a sister-in-law, Jackie Stukey; 2 brothers-in-law, Richard, (Darlene) Muncie and her dear friends, Kelly and Frank Todarello. Predeceased by brother-in-law Don Kopf.

    A service was held Saturday, May 16, 2015.
