    Joseph William Goater, 56, of 446 81st St., a veteran
    of 24 years on the Niagara Falls Police Department,
    was pronounced dead on arrival at Memorial Hospital
    today (Aug. 19, 1965) after suffering an apparent heart
    attack at his home.
    A fire department rescue
    squad administered oxygen
    for 15 minutes in an attempt
    to revive him.
    Mr. Goater joined the police
    force May 1, 1941. He served
    as a patrolman throughout his
    almost a quarter-century span
    of service. Before being named
    to the department, he was
    employed at the city's sewage
    disposal plant.
    Mr. Goater was a native of
    Niagara Falls. He was a 25-
    year member of t h e Independent
    Order of Odd Fellows,
    the Niagara Falls Police
    Club and an elder at Riverside
    Presbyterian Church. He
    was also an active member of
    the Handbell Society of the
    church.
    Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
    Dorothy Goater; a son, Kenneth
    Goater, at home; three
    brothers. Thomas E. and Police
    Lt. Harry C. Goater, both
    of Niagara Falls, and Albert
    G. Goater. Pompano Beach,
    Fla.; and one sister, Mrs. Loz-
    zilaire (Amy) Johnson, Niagara
    Falls.
    Services will be h e l d at
    Riverside Presbyterian Church
    at 11 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Alan
    J. Perrine, pastor, will officiate.
    Burial will be in Memorial
    Park Cemetery.
    Friends may call at the Lane
    Funeral Home until 10 p.m.
    Friday.
    The family said that contributions
    to t h e Riverside
    Presbyterian Church Handbell
    Society are acceptable as
    tribute.

    Thomas Edward Goater, 93, of Hird Road, Town of Wheatfield, died Friday, March 30, 2007 at his home while under the care of hospice, following a brief illness. Born on May 12, 1913, the son of Joseph and Louisa (Brand) Goater, he attended local schools and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School Class of 1931. He retired from the Carborundum Co. as a lathe operator in 1975. Mr. Goater was an avid woodworker, enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and working in his flower garden. Thomas loved living on the Niagara River. He was a member of the Unity Church, a sixty year member of the Frontier Volunteer Fire Co., the Wheatfield Republican Club, the Niagara County Ostomy, a member of the LaSalle Sportsman Club since 1941, the Carborundum Alumni, the Retired Men's Service Club, the Wheatfield Seniors and the TNT Boat Club. He was predecease by his wife, Geraldine Morath on April 22, 1982. They were married in Niagara Falls on June 26, 1937. Survivors include two daughters, Marlene Mueller and her husband Mike of Town of Wheatfield, Margo Beecher and her husband Paul of Sanborn, a brother, Harry Goater of Daytona Beach, FL, sister-in-law, Dorothy Goater of Niagara Falls, brother-in-law, Harry Morath of Niagara Falls, seven grandchildren, Kyle Hall (Larry), Karen Pfohl (Gary), Kim Szelazkiewicz (Bill), Mike Mueller (Cindy), Paul Beecher, Christine Beecher and Amanda Beecher,eight great grandchildren, Darryl Hall (Michele), Kelly Patterson (Dave), Billy Szelazkiewicz, Mikie Szelazkiewicz, Alexandra Mueller, Michael Mueller, Jillian Mueller and Colleen York, three great great grandchildren, Erica Hall, Andrew Hall and Autumn Patterson and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William, Bert, Amy and May Goater. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton.     Margo J. Beecher (Goater), age 70, was called to her heavenly home on February 25, 2016 at her Sanborn residence. Born May 16, 1945 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of Thomas and Geraldine (Morath) Goater. Margo attended the River Road School and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School. She was employed at the Niagara Falls Air Base. A former member of the Sanborn Baptist Church, Margo was the crafts director and instructor for the Sanbornite Senior Citizen Group. She enjoyed arts and crafts, was a seamstress and operated the What Knot Barn Craft Store, in Sanborn.
    Survivors include her husband, Paul D. Beecher (married June 11, 1966); three children, Paul T. Beecher of Murfreesboro, TN, Christine Beecher of Wheatfield and Amanda Jean Beecher of Murfreesboro, TN; granddaughter, Colleen York, and great-grandson, Chanse Mark Bishop both of Niagara Falls; a sister, Marlene Mueller of Wheatfield; nieces, nephews and close friends. Also pre-deceased by a brother-in-law, Myron 'Mike' Mueller; and parent-in-laws, Daniel and Adelaide Beecher.
    Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Jonathon Haseley, on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
    Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
