    Miss Emma E. Whitney, 95. a
    lifelong resident of this area, died
    yesterday (Jan. 18, 1956) at her
    home, 552 Seventh St. Miss Whit-
    ney h a d been in ill health for
    some time.
    A member of the First Presbyterian
    Church here, she was born
    on the old Whitney farm, located
    just outside the city.
    She is survived by two nieces.
    Mrs. Fred M. Ackerson, wife of
    Judge Ackerson, this city, and Mrs.
    Charles Welch. Sarasota, Fla., and
    two nephews, Charles Vogt, Tampa,
    Fla.. and Dr. Clarence Vogt,
    Brooklyn.
    • Private funeral service will, be
    conducted by the Rev. Charles C.
    Berryhill, pastor of thc First Presbyterian
    Church at 3 p.m. Saturday
    at the residence. Burial will be
    in Oak wood Cemetery.

    Private services for Miss Eliza B.
    Whitney, a teacher here for 40
    years and a leader at the First
    Presbyterian church, will be held
    at her home, 552 Seventh street,
    tomorrow afternoon.
    Miss Whitney died at her home
    yesterday.
    A member of one of the pioneer
    families of this area. Miss Whitney
    was born on the Whitney farm.
    Lockport road. Town of Niagara.
    She retired 20
    years ago after
    teaching 40 years
    at the Cleveland
    a v e n u e , Fifth
    street and Third
    street schools.
    She and her sister.
    Miss Emma
    Whitney, were
    lifelong workers
    at the First Presbyterian
    church.
    They were the senior
    members in
    the church and represented a con-
    Unuous family membership in rts
    century and a quarter long history.
    The Whitney family membership
    started in 1831 when Theodore
    Whitney, grandfather of the Whitney
    sisters. Immigrated here from
    England and Joined the First Presbyterian
    Society of Niagara Miss
    Whitney's father. John Whitney,
    was also' a lifelong member of \he
    church and became an elder there
    in 1858.
    Besides her sister Miss Whitney
    is survived by two neices. Mrs. Fred
    M. Ackerson. this city, and Mrs
    Charles Welch. Sarasota. Pla ; three
    nephews. Dr. Clarence Vogt.
    Charles W. Vogt. Tampa. Fit
    and J. Whitney Vogt. Buffalo
    The Rev. Charles C. Berryhill
    will officiate at the services
    Friends may call at the Whitney
    home until noon tomorrow.

    Miss Frances K. Whitney, a lifelong
    resident of Niagara Falls, died at
    her home, 662 Seventh street, last
    night, following a short Illness from
    pneumonia, Miss Whitney waa the
    daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John
    Whitney, pioneer resident, whose
    names are closely associated with the
    early development of Niagara Falls.
    The family formerty lived on Lockport
    road, but moved to the Seventh street
    home about 10 years ago.
    Miss Whitney is survived by four
    sisters, Emma C, Margaret. E. and
    Eliza B., of this city, and Mrs. J, B.
    Vogt, of Ormond, Fla. The funeral,
    which will be private, will be held from
    the family home tomorrow afternoon
    at 1 o'clock, the Rev. A. B. Bacon officiating.

    J. Whitney Vogt, 72, a member of
    one of the pioneer families of this
    city and a former resident here, died
    late yesterday at the Buffalo Veterans
    hospital.
    Funeral services for Mr. Vogt will
    be held at the Cornell and Daggett
    Funeral chapel at 2 p. m., Friday.
    Friends may call after 1 p. m., tomorrow.
    Born in this city, Mr. Vogt was the
    son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob
    B. Vogt. He was formerly in the
    garage and souvenir business in
    this city.
    He was a member of the old
    Forty-second Separate company,
    New York National guard. He
    served with the army during the
    Mexican border campaign in 1916.
    During World War 1 he served
    overseas with the 108th Infantry
    regiment, Twenty-seventh division,
    and was promoted to the grade of
    First Lieutenant. A member of the
    Order of The Purple Heart, Mr.
    Vogt saw action on the Hlndenburg
    line and throughout France. He
    was the last remaining officer of
    company E, 108th regiment.
    Surviving are his wife, Maude
    Clifton Vogt, Buffalo: a son, Clifton
    W. Vogt, Albany; a daughter, Maude
    Elizabeth. Tucson, Arz; two sisters,
    Mrs. Fred M. Ackerson, this city,
    Mrs. Charles Welch, Sarasota, Fla.;
    two brothers, Dr. Clarence Vogt,
    Brooklyn, and Charles W Vogt,
    Tampa, Fla.. and one grandchild.
    Burial will be in Riverdale cemetery.

    Tampa, Fla., for Charles W.
    Vogt, 78, a native of this city
    who died Wednesday (June 22,
    1960) at his home in St. Petersburg,
    Fla.
    The son of the late Jacob
    B. and Mary Whitney Vogt,
    both descendants of pioneer
    Niagara Falls families, Mr.
    Vogt attended schools in this
    city and was graduated from
    Syracuse University.
    He settled in Tampa, where
    he operated a welding business
    after graduating from
    college.
    In 1921, he married the
    former Pearl Candee, supervisor
    of art in the Niagara
    Falls schools system. They
    made their home in Tampa
    until his retirement about 10
    years ago when they spent
    their summer in the North,
    v i s i t i n g here often. They
    moved to 525 14th Ave. NE,
    St. Petersburg, two years ago.
    Surviving, in addition to
    Mrs. Vogt, are a brother, Dr.
    Clarence Vogt, Sarasota, Fla.,
    and two sisters, Mrs. Charles
    Welch, Sarasota, and Mrs.
    Fred Ackerson, this city.
