    Donna is survived by her children, Randa New of Hillsboro, Oregon, Carroll “Smiley” (Maureen Welter) Smith of Hillsboro, Oregon, and Valerie (Michael) Leedom of Waterloo, Iowa; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

    Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Smith; sisters Dorothy Little, Pauline Saunders, Velma Lubben, and a brother, Paul Gienapp, Jr.

    Donna was born March 8, 1927, near Hopkinton, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Elva (Culdice) Gienapp. She was a graduate of Delhi High School.

    On June 10, 1946, Donna married Dean E. Smith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hopkinton.

    Together the couple farmed in the Delhi and Ryan areas. She worked as a cook in the Maquoketa Valley High School lunch program for more than twenty years.

    Donna was a member of the Delhi United Methodist Church and active in the American Legion Auxiliary.
