    NORTH TONAWANDA — Robert E. Hardy, age 74, of North Tonawanda, January 5, 2013, in Oakwood Nursing Home. Robert was a former 30-year employee of Lawless Container. He was a former member of the former St. Paul Lutheran Church (E. Felton St.) He was a member of the St. Johnsburg Fire Co.; he loved gardening and bowling.

    Husband of Jean (nee Trinkwalder) Hardy. Father of Jill Mordick of Niagara Falls and Steven Hardy of Tonawanda. Grandfather of Pamela and Michael Mordick, Lucas, David and Joy Hardy. Brother of Joan (Bud) Scheller and David Hardy, both of North Tonawanda and Mark Hardy of the Town of Tonawanda; uncle of several nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 AM, the Rev. Barbara Price will officiate. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined.     NORTH TONAWANDA — Richard R. "Dick" Ellman, age 76, a native of North Tonawanda before moving to the Town of Niagara in 2001. He was born on March 27, 1935; his parents were the late Reuben and Bernice Ellman.

    Dick was a very active Volunteer Fireman in the 1960s and 70s. He was a 54-year member of Gratwick Hose, where he served as Financial Secretary, 1st Lieutenant and Captain. He belonged to the Niagara County Volunteer Fireman, the Niagara County Volunteer Chiefs, the Fireman's Association of the State of New York, the W.N.Y. Volunteer Fireman's Association and the North Tonawanda Volunteer Benevolent Association.

    Dick's working career spanned 43 years in the oil industry, starting at Canlake Petroleum, Ashland Oil and NOCO Energy Corp. He retired from NOCO in 1997 as a Service Manager.

    Beloved husband of Judith (nee Mye) Ellman for over 55 years. Father of Richard P. (Debra) Ellman, Randal (Laura) Ellman and Kristin S. Curry, all of North Tonawanda. The love of his life were his grandchildren, Matthew Ellman, Erin (fiancee', Bill Kinmartin) Ellman, Alisha (Mykle) Gaynor, Amanda (Tim) Taylor and twin granddaughters, Suzanne and Lindsay Curry. Great-grandfather of Makaela Lovell and Andrew Gaynor. Brother of Marcia (Edward) Fernbacher, Ned T. Ellman and the late Larry Ellman. Brother-in-law of Judy Ellman. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Son-in-law of Vera (late Herbert) Mye.

He was the beloved father of Caitlin (Richard Jimenez) Scheller and Mallory (Charles Pearce) Scheller and amazing grandfather and “SaSa” to his 4 grandchildren – Elizabeth “Liz” Shear, Richard “Bubby” Jimenez, and Charlotte and William “Wilby” Pearce. He is also survived by his sisters Laurie (Ted) Deverell, Jo-Ellen Laderer, and Chris (Fred) Stanley and his niece and nephew. Scott was a Retired Union Electrician for IBEW Local #237. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling and going to Walt Disney World, and spending time with his 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. Donations can be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute in lieu of flowers. Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Wattengel Funeral Home.
