    APPLETON, July 11-Largely a t tended
    funeral services were conducted
    for Frederick J. Arndt, last
    week, in St. John's Lutheran
    church on the Drake Settlement
    road. Mr. Amdt died in his home at
    Appleton, following several weeks'
    illness.
    The. Rev. William Dallman, pastor
    of the church, officiated. Burial
    was in Wright's Corners cemetery.
    Beareres were Roy Bennett,
    Albert Brant, Roland Sennett, Walter
    Arndt, William Miller and Harold
    Bobzien, all of the town of Newfane.
    He leaves besides his widow, two
    daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Blank of

    Bobzien and Mrs, William Sennett
    of Burt, Mrs. William Miller of
    County Line, Mrs. Louise Brant of

    Charles Arndt of Buffalo and Mrs.

    one step-brother, John Arndt of the
    state of Washington.

    LYNDONVILLE - Mrs. Clara
    C. Bane, 78, of Marshall
    Road, died early today at her
    home here after a long illness.
    She was the daughter of Wil
    liam and Minnie Arndt, and
    was born July 13, 1890, in Burt.
    She married the late Timothy
    Bane of Lyndonville in 1906, and
    has resided in this area for
    more than 60 years.
    Mrs. Bane was a member of
    the United Methodist Church
    and the Gleaners Class of that
    church. Until recently, she was
    quite active in church affairs.
    She is survived by a daughter,
    Mrs. Stanley (Myrtle) Hill
    of Rochester; four sons, Leo of
    Rochester, and Keith Sr., Irving
    and Earl, all of Lyndonville; a
    sister, Miss Anna Miller of Buffalo;
    a brother, William Miller
    of Lyndonville; 28 grandchildren;
    34 great - grandchildren,
    and several nieces and nephews.
    Her son Howard Bane died in
    1953.

    Bertha Arndt Seelow, she had
    lived here all of her life. She
    was a member of the First

    Women's Association of that

    SANBORN Dorothy Elizabeth Blank, 80, of Saunders Settlement Road, died Sunday (Dec. 31, 1989) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
    The native of Newfane was the daughter of Frederick J. .and Ida Marie (Riemer) Arndt. She moved to Sanborn in 1958. She had been employed by the former Ross Department Store, Main Street, Niagara Falls, and the Jenss Brothers Department Store at the Mil-Pine Plaza.
    She was a member of St. Paul, Calvary Lutheran Church, the Western New York Gas and Steam Engine Association of Alexander and the Sanbornite Senior Citizens.
    She is survived by her husband, Sylvester G. Blank; a son, Frederick G .Blank of Sanborn; two daughters, Betty Jean Clark of Ransomville and Linda Ann Moxham of Highland, Mich.; a sister, Edna Gordiner of Niagara Falls; 11 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, an aunt, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    There will be no visitation.
    A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Calvary Lutheran Church, 18th Street and Cleveland Avenue, with the Rev. Albert R. Laese officiating. Burial will be in Wrights Corners Cemetery, Newfane.
    Contributions to Tri-Community Ambulance Service or St. Paul Calvary Lutheran Church are acceptable as tribute.
    Arrangements were made by the Rhoney Funeral Home.

    Mrs. Gordineer worked as an aid in the nursery at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She was also involved with the Wesley Quilters, The Sunshine Club and the St. James Seniors.
    She is survived by her daughter Jeanne Hagar, her son Richard (Amy) Gordineer and her granddaughter Jennifer Krul. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Gordineer (1985), her son Larry Gordineer, her granddaughter Wendy Gordineer and her sister Elsie Glowienka.
    There will be no prior visitation and burial will be private in Niagara Falls Memorial Park cemetery in the Town of Lewiston.

    State police said that the accident
    occurred about 1 a.m. when their
    car struck a tree and house and then
    burst into flames after overturning.

    State police at Gaines reported
    that Mr. Bane, 41, and his wife,

    One of two five-gallon kerosene
    containers in the car is believed to
    become ignited and exploded.
    Although the bodies of the couple
    were charred almost beyond recognition,
    Coroner David E. Fraser,
    Lyndonville, expressed the opinion
    that Mr. Bane and his wife died
    before the car caught fire.

    withheld pending the results of an
    autopsy ordered by state police.

    LOCKPORT — Edith H. Brown passed away January 1, 2011. She was born on Willow Street on August 28, 1917, the youngest daughter of Joseph H. and Ella (Seelow) Volschow. Her husband and life partner, the late Edmund H. "Babe" Brown died in 1977 and was the Vice Chairman of the New York Power Authority and New York State delegate to the Great Lakes Commission.

    Edie and Babe had the opportunity to host Presidents and dignitaries from all over the world who came to visit the Niagara Power project and Niagara Falls. She was an avid golfer and won the Women's Championship at the Lockport Town & CC 9 times. She loved gardening and took great pride in her flowers and yard. Edith did a lot of craft work and taught for local Senior Citizen groups. She became well known for her hand made Teddy Bears and designed safe toys for small children. Earlier, during and after World War II, she joined the Red Cross Motor Corps as a volunteer, working on the blood bank, making bandages for overseas, fund raising and helping at the Veterans Hospitals in Buffalo and Batavia. She was a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church.

    Edith is survived by a son, Richard.

    There will be no prior visitation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

    Betty J. Clark of Ransomville, wife of 59 years to the late Donald R. Clark, who predeceased her in April 2019, passed away on September 10, 2019, following a great fight with a terminal illness. She was born on March 21, 1941, daughter of the late Sylvester and Dorothy (Arndt) Blank of Sanborn. Betty attended elementary school in at the District #2 Tuscarora Road One Room Schoolhouse, later graduated from Trott Vocational High School, in the first class of Practical Nursing, in June 1958. On October 15, 1960 she married Donald, whom she met at the Cataract Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corp.  Betty worked for Niagara Memorial Hospital for 4 yrs, followed by Curtiss Chicken Farm, and was manager of Honeybears Bakery & Pizza in Ransomville, where she retired.  Betty was a member of the Ransomville Rural Retirees, Ransomville Thursday Luncheon Group, Past President of the LaSalle Auxillary Sportsman Club, Past President and Vice President of the Ransomville Lions Club, and board member of the Canine Helpers for the Handicapped.  Betty was an avid sports fan of the Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bills and NASCAR, with her favorite driver being Joey Logano.
     
    Surviving is 5 sons Robert (Dawn), Richard (Lynne), Ronald (Tina), Russ (Michelle) and Randall (Nancy); her grandchildren, Amanda, Daniel (Kelsey), Ryan (Liz), Justin (Megan), Teagan, Raechelle (John), Tiffany, Rachel, Michael; step grandchildren Emily and Shawn and 3 great grandchildren; sister Linda Moxham; and brother Fred (Elaine) Blank.

    LOCKPORT —
    Arnold K. Bane passed away on November 5, 2012 in Niagara Hospice House. Born on September 8, 1941 in Yates, NY, he was the son of Howard and Laura (Tanner) Bane and attended Lyndonville schools.
    He served in the Army Reserves from 1960-1963 and from 1963-1966 in active duty in Germany. Arnold worked for Western Block, drove taxi, Benz-O-Matic, and Wal-Mart for 14-1/2 years. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies; and his dog, Sparky.
    Arnold is survived by his wife, Mary (Storms) Bane of Wilson; daughters, Laura Bane and Amy Bane, both of Wilson; grandfather of Cassy Schurr of Lockport, Samantha Schurr, Joshua, Emily and Jonathan Bane, all of Wilson; great-grandfather of Darryle Schurr of Ransomville, Aniyahe Schurr of Lockport, and James Ventura of Wilson; brother of Howard Bane of Barre Center, Robert Bane of Lyndonville, Loretta Lonnen of Waterport, Shirley Bane of Lockport and the late John Tanner, Herbert Bane, and Clara Bane; also several cousins, nieces and nephews.

    Loretta M. Lonnen, age 75, died November 16, 2021 in Strong Memorial Hospital following a short illness. She was born December 22, 1945 in Lockport, a daughter of Howard and Laura (Tanner) Bane and was a life-long resident of this area. Loretta enjoyed crocheting and studying genealogy but her real passion was creating and tending to her gardens. Ms. Lonnen was predeceased by siblings: Howard, Arnold, Shirley, Clara and Herbie Bane and John Tanner. She is survived by her 4 sons: Dan (Lisa) Lonnen of Waterport, Alex (Linda) Lonnen of Medina, Brian (Nikki) Lonnen of Carlton, Scott Lonnen of TN, her brother: Bob Bane of Lyndonville, several grandchildren, great grandchildren as well several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Avenue-Albion, MONDAY from 4-7 pm where her Funeral Service will be held at 7pm following visitation.     LYNDONVILLE, N.Y. (AP) -
    Herbert Bane, a 13-year-old orphan,
    was killed Thursday when a
    rifle discharged as he and his
    brother handled it. police said.
    Herbert and his brother. Robert,
    15, were playing with the 22-caliber
    rifle in the home of an uncle,
    Keith Bane, in this Orleans County
    village.
    The boys and their five brothers
    and sisters had been living with
    the uncle since their parents were
    killed in an automobile accident
    near here in 1953, police said.

    LYNDONVILLE - A 13-yearold
    Town of Yates boy, one of
    eight children left without parents
    as the result of an auto accident,
    in 1953, was accidentally
    shot and killed Thursday afternoon
    by his 15-year-old brother.
    Pronounced dead at Medina Memorial
    Hospital was Herbert Bane
    of Marshall Road, Town of Yates,
    about four miles west of here. Dr.
    James Sterling, an Orleans County
    coroner, termed the shooting
    "accidental."
    According to the Orleans County
    Sheriffs Department, the dead
    youth and a brother, Robert, returned
    home on a school bus
    shortly after 4 p.m. After eating,
    they went upstairs to their room.
    Robert, according to deputies, was
    preparing to remove a cartidge
    from a .22 caliber rifle when the
    weapon discharged. The shell
    struck Herbert in the face.
    A sister heard the shot and
    called police.
    Herbert had been living at the
    home of his uncle and grandmother,
    Keith Bane and Mrs. Clara
    Bane, since th e death of his
    parents in 1953. His parents, Mr.
    and Mrs. Howard Bane were killed
    in an Orleans County auto accident.
    The youth was a seventh-grader
    at Lyndonville Central School
    and a member of the Yates Baptist
    Church. He was born in Lockport
    on April 22, 1949.
    Surviving besides his uncle and
    grandmother are three brothers,
    Pfc. Howard Bane of the United
    States Marine Corps, Camp Le-
    jeune, N.C., Pfc. Arnold Bane of

    the United States Army in Germany,
    and Robert Bane; three
    sisters, Miss Clara Bane, Miss
    Loretta Bane and Miss Shirley
    Bane, all at home, and a halfbrother,
    Harold Tanner of Sodus.
    There are also several other aunts
    and uncles.
    Funeral services will be held at
    1 p.m. Sunday from the Smythe
    Funeral Home, Lyndonville. Burial
    will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.

    Shirley A. Bane, 68, of Lockport, NY, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019.
    Born on November 24, 1950 in Lockport, NY, she was the daughter of the late Howard L. and Laura May (Tanner) Bane.
    She graduated from Holley Central School in 1969 and attended Gram Junior College in Boston MA. Shirley was employed with the Federal Government in Virginia and that’s where she met and married her former husband Robert Edwards and together they raised two sons. She returned to the Western New York area and worked for various law firms in the area. Shirley enjoyed spending time reconnecting with her family, especially with her granddaughters.
    Shirley is survived by her sons, Aaron (Danielle) Edwards of Lockport NY. Matthew (Zahra Ramdhany) Edwards of Alexandria VA; granddaughters, Mikhayla and Lexi; siblings, Loretta Lonnen of Waterport NY, Robert Bane of Lyndonville NY, Steven Smith of Churchville NY, Scott (Josephine) Smith of Rock Hill SC, Chris (Barb) Smith of Churchville NY and Eric (Janice ) Smith of Spencerport NY. Also survived are many nieces and nephews.
    Besides her parents, Shirley is predeceased by her foster parents, Donald and Nancy Smith, siblings, John Tanner, Clara Bane, Howard Bane, Arnold Bane, and Herbert Bane.
    Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 11AM-1PM at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY 14103, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in the Lynhaven Cemetery.
    Memorials may be made in Shirley’s name to the American Diabetes Association, 4955 N Bailey Ave #217, Amherst, NY 14226.
