    SALISBURY, MD - Ruth A. Bromhall, 93, of Salisbury, MD, died on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge. Born on January 31, 1921 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Eva Kerr Schwenkbeck.

    Ruth was in the inaugural class of volunteers at Peninsula General Hospital where she served for over 25 years, touching many lives. She was our beloved mom, the center and grounding of our lives, always game for family adventures, known for her reassuring and easy smile and wink, her expertise at doing crossword puzzles, and for her great spaghetti sauce.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Herbert Bromhall; a son, Mark Frederick Bromhall; one sister and seven brothers.

    She is survived by four daughters, Jude Bromhall Brown and her husband, Frank, of Ocracoke Island, NC, Janis Bromhall Shores (Robert Freeman) of Delmar, MD, Joan Bromhall Kjeldsen of Salisbury, MD, and Jeanne Cullen of Ocracoke Island, NC. She is also survived by her former son-in-law, Neil Peter Kjeldsen of Miami, FL; six grandchildren, Matthew Brown (Mary), Travis Brown (Toni), Andrew Shores (Nicole), Lucas Kjeldsen, Zachary Kjeldsen, Jaren Mutro (Dale); five great-grandchildren, Elicia Brown, Hannah Brown, Ava Brown, Trenton Darlington and Mason Darlington; a sister, Dorothy Jagow; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Blakelock; many nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Mary Esther Kraft of Mt. Vernon, MD.

    A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury. Pastor Kevin Wackett will officiate.

    Dorothy was employed at the former Moore Business Forms and in the cafeteria at South Junior. Most of all, she took pride in spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. Dorothy was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
    She is survived by her children, Beverly (Joseph) Scalzo, Barbara (Daniel) LaBernardo; grandchildren, Daniel (Amanda) LaBernardo, Kendra (Jeremiah) Traver, Richard Jagow II, Justin (Jarrod Atkinson) Jagow, Diana Butinski; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Danny Mark LaBernardo and Liv Traver; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence on January 23,2004;son, Richard (Rosalind) on May 9, 2016; siblings, Howard and George Schwenkbeck, Gertrude (Robert) Blakelock, Ruth Bromhall, Wallace and Bart Blakelock.
    The family would like to thank the staff at Our Lady of Peace 3 East for their kindness and care of their mother.
    Dorothy has donated her body to the University of Buffalo Anatomical Gift Program. Private services will be help at the convenience of the family.

    Obituary of Kenneth Halliday

    Kenneth R. Halliday, age 94 of Lewiston, died Thursday September 13, 2018 in the Schoellkopf Health Center in Niagara Falls, after a brief illness.
    Kenneth was born July 28, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Wilfred J. and Anna (Schwenkbeck) Halliday and was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School. On April 9, 1948 he married Dorothy M. (Wilson) and they have resided in Lewiston since then. Kenneth was employed by Nabisco Shredded Wheat in Niagara Falls, NY for 41 years, retiring as the Supervisor of the Machine Shop in 1985.
    He was a charter member of the Lutheran Church of The Messiah in Lewiston and a member of the Shredded Wheat Breakfast Club and Bowling League. An avid and talented woodworker, Kenneth enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and working in "Grampie's Workshop"
    In addition to his wife of 70 years, Dorothy, he is survived by a son, Gary (Debbi) Halliday; two daughters, Sharon (William) Ruth and Debbie (Paul) Skalla; six grandchildren, Allyson R. and Kristen Halliday, Lauren (Suren) Gobin, Donny Halliday, Deidre and Jeremy Skalla; and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Rick J. (late Nancy) Halliday and a brother, Wilfred (Doris) Halliday.
    Funeral Services and Entombment will be held Monday, September 17, at 12:00 noon in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum, 500 Riverdale Ave. Lewiston, with the Rev. Dr. Rex Stewart officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092.     Harvey R. Mack, Jr., lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Monday October 27, 2014 at his residence. He was 80. He was born in Niagara Falls on May 20, 1934, a son of the late Harvey R. and Ann M. (Schwenkbeck), and stepmother Vivian (Riley) Mack Sr.

    Harvey attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He then worked for E.I. DuPont for 39 years, retiring as a Instrument mechanic in 1992.

    He was a member of the LaSalle Sportsman's Club, the Athletic Club at DuPont, the County Fireman's Association, the Fireman's Association of the State of New York (FASNY) and was a life member of Frontier Fire Hall, having served for 63 years.

    Harvey enjoyed practical Jokes, deer hunting, fishing, boating, and golf.

    Mr. Mack is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Genevieve M. (Coyle) Mack, two children: Bruce W. (Donna) Mack and Jewel Mack, two grandchildren; Brandon and Hallee and his two sisters, Shirley (late Floyd) Pope of Florida and Sandra (John) Paul of Niagara Falls; with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, George Mack and his sister-in-law Kathryn (Gensler) Mack.

    There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11 A.M. at Frontier Fire Hall, 2176 Liberty Drive, Niagara Falls, New York 14304. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.     She is survived by her children, Donna (James) Dunham, Irene (Gary) Grabiec, son-in-law Glenn Ammerman, John (Christine Cook) Paul, and James (Marchette Stevens) Paul; 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.


    Besides her parents, Sandy was predeceased by her husband, John J. Paul, daughter, Michele Ammerman, siblings, Harvey Mack Jr., George Mack, Shirley Pope, and grandchildren Michael Paul & Angela Scibilia.


    A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 27 from 2-5PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319 24th Street, cor. of Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

    APPLE VALLEY, MN — John A. Schwenkbeck, of Apple Valley, MN, passed away on June 26, 1912, after a short illness. He was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on February 17, 1948 to Jack and Edna (Eldridge) Schwenkbeck.

    John was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School (1967). He proudly served in the US Navy from 1968-1972 aboard U.S.S. Wainwright. John worked in the food industry. He enjoyed entertaining and cooking for family and friends. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandson, Walker.

    John is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Shayna (Scott) Clute; grandson, Walker; sisters, Ruthie Schwenkbeck, Niagara Falls, NY, Nancy (Tom) Gillis; brothers, Karl (Mickey), Lewiston, NY, Robert (Donna), Ransomville, NY. He is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.

    Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at White Funeral Home in Apple Valley. Interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

    Richard B. Jagow, 60, of Youngstown, NY passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of Dorothy (Schwenkbeck) Jagow of Lewiston, and the late Clarence Jagow.

    Richard attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He later attended Ohio State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Richard has been a resident of Youngstown for the past 34 years. He was employed at Occidental Chemical Co. in Niagara Falls for seven years, and for the past twenty nine years he worked as a Process Supervisor at DuPont Chemical Co. in Tonawanda. Richard was a member of the Greater Niagara Falls Church of God. He was a passionate motorcyclist and member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG). Richard was an avid reader particularly of history. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, baking and cooking. Richard was a gifted handyman who could fix just about anything. He loved vacationing in Florida and spending time with his boxer dog, Beau. Most of all Richard will be remembered as kind, caring, warm hearted individual who was loved by all who knew him.

    In addition to his mother, Richard is survived by his beloved wife of twenty six years Rosalind (Marangine) Jagow; four children, Richard Jagow, II, Justin (Jarrod Atkinson) Jagow, Diana Butinski and Salina Talla; two sisters, Barbara (Dan) Labernardo and Beverly (Joe) Scalzo as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

    There will be no prior visitation. A Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held at a later date to be announced.
