    MEDINA — Mr. Donald E. Hellert of Medina passed away on January 5, 2014.

    Survivors include his wife, M. Adelia; four children, Donna (Jim) Ferry, Marcia (Rob) Cook, Cindy (Jerry) Moule and Terry (Kim) Hellert; a daughter-in-law, Deb Hellert; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Marion Washak, Elsie Williams, Libby Brauen, Kate Thiel and Ruby Schultz; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Randy Hellert; sister, Dorothy Schuler and brother, Robert "Butch" Hellert.

    Friends may call on Wednesday 6-8PM at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, where his funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11AM. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of Lincoln Post #1483, VFW and Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion. Interment will be in the spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby.

    GASPORT - Marion A. Waszak, of Medina, passed away Tuesday evening, February 4, 2014, at Absolut Care of Gasport.

    Marion was born October 17, 1921, daughter to the late Edward and Elsie (Mietz) Hellert. She grew up on Tonawanda Creek in Akron and was married in April of 1940 to Chester Waszak. Together they lived and raised their family in Medina. Marion was a faithful member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medina. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She opened her home, her heart and arms to all of her grandchildren and took great joy in being a part of their lives as they grew up.

    Survivors include her two sons, Ronald (Vicki) Washak and Arthur (Amy) Washak; seven grandchildren, Jacqui (Bill) O'Hora, Pam Washak, Ron (Tammie) Washak, Jr., Kim Albone, Kristen (Dave) Kuch, Andrew Washak and Kari Washak; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Elsie (Walt) Williams, Katie (Bill) Thiel, Elizabeth (late Bob) Brauen and Ruby (Lyle) Schultz; sister in-law, Adelia Hellert; also several nieces and nephews. Marion was predeceased by an infant daughter, Marjorie Louise; her husband, Chester; granddaughter, Wendy Washak-Kimber; her sister, Dorothy (late Art) Schuler and brothers, Robert "Butch" (late Ruth) Hellert and Donald Hellert.

    The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Absolut Care of Gasport for all of their love and care.

    Calling hours will be held on Friday from (4-7PM) at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Her funeral service will be Saturday at (10AM) at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1355 West Ave., Medina. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.     AKRON — Robert Hellert, known as "Butch" by friends and family, entered his eternal home on June 19, 2012, to be with his wife Ruth, and his eternal Father.

    Born February 2, 1923, Butch was a man of strong character and faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and dearly loved his family and friends, and his land on Johnson Road.

    He is survived by his son, John Robert Hellert (Dianne), Latham, NY; and his daughter, Linda L. Peterson (Rev. Charles), DeForest, WI; grandchildren, Steffen (Rotsalinn) Hellert and Kirsten Hellert; brother, Donald (Adelia) Hellert; sisters, Marion (Chester) Washak, Elsie (Walter) Williams, Elizabeth (Robert) Brauen, Katherine (William) Thiel and Ruby (Lyle) Schultz; and many nieces and nephews. Butch was predeceased in death by his wife, Ruth; parents, Elsie and Edward Hellert and sister, Dorothy Schuler.

    Linda and John extend their appreciation to many family members and friends, especially Marcia and Robert Cook, Carol Gibbs, Joe and Diane Grabowski, Lyle and Ruby Schultz, Shirley Bower, Lani Jendrowski, Roger Fiegel and Dennis and Sandy Bernhardt for their generous love and support, and to the staff of Orchard Manor Nursing Home for their care and service.

    Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Friday, June 22 at the Bernhardt Funeral Home, Akron, NY. A graveside committal will be held 9:30 AM Saturday, June 23 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby, NY, followed by an 11 AM memorial service at St. John's Lutheran Church, Akron, NY. Family and friends invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated. The family will distribute the memorials to selected charities.

    Elizabeth "Libby" Mae Brauen (Hellert), age 88, of Gasport, entered into rest on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo. Born on October 17, 1926 in Royalton, Libby is the daughter of the late Edward C. and Elsie M. (Mietz) Hellert. Libby married Robert Brauen on June 9, 1945 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville. Her husband, Bob Brauen, died on May 25, 1997. Together they had three children, Patricia Ann (the late Roger) Schnackel of South Carolina, Bonita Jo (Fred) Dempsey of Lockport and Steven M. (Karen) Brauen of Gasport. Dearest grandmother of Dale (Vicki) Schnackel, Todd Dempsey, Kimberly (Jason) Langhorne, Andrea (Ryan) Degenhardt, Trevor (Kate) Brauen, Tracey (Eric) Waters, Matthew (Jennifer) Brauen, and the late Michael Schnackel; and great-grandmother to 17 great-grandchildren. Sister of Elsie Williams of Florida, Kathryn Thiel of Middleport, Ruby Schultz of West Shelby, and the late Robert Hellert, Donald Hellert, Marion Washak and Dorothy Schuler. Several nieces and nephews also survive Libby. Elizabeth worked about 15 years at FMC in Middleport in data entry. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gasport for over 50 years and served her church in the Ladies Aid group and the Evangelism Committee. She loved spending time with her family having picnics and get-togethers. She enjoyed gardening and tending her flowers. She was a member of the Wolcottsville Firemen's marching band and its auxiliary, and for many years was a Girl Scout leader. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport, on Wednesday, January 28th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM from Zion Lutheran Church, 4447 Central Avenue, Gasport, NY with the Reverend Rodney Klinzing officiating. Interment will be in Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Zion Lutheran Church or Tri-Town Ambulance.

Mrs. Schultz was born in Wolcottsville, February 2, 1937, a daughter of the late Edward and Elsie (Meitz) Hellert. A lifelong area resident, she was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville, enjoyed the outdoors, flower gardening, farming and shooting. She also operated the "Barnegat Store" in Shelby Center for 10 years. Survivors include her husband, Lyle E. whom she married on July 26, 1969; 3 children, Laurel (John) Harrington, Jr., Larry (Val) Bruning and Mitchell Schultz; 5 grandchildren, Brandon, Ashley, Elizabeth, Hannah and Brock; 2 step children, Gerri Schultz and Darryl Schultz; 2 sisters, Kate (Bill) Thiel and Elsie (Walt) Williams; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Dorothy Schuler, Robert “Butch” Hellert, Donald Hellert, Marion Washak, and Elizabeth Brauen and foster brother, Egan Rosentreter. There will be no prior calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday at 11AM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6369 Wolcottsville Road. The Rev. Craig S. Rhodenizer will officiate and interment will be in the spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
