He was a member of the Wheatfield Senior Citizens. He is survived by five sisters, Mrs Myrtle Werth, Mrs. Edna Chace. Mrs. Bernhardt (Ruth) Poerschke and Mrs. Victor (Margaret) Verch, all of the Town of Wheatfield and Mrs. David (Gloria) Dunn of Hallandale, Fla., many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St.. at Ward Rd., North Tonawanda Wednesday and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. Rolf Buchmann will officiate. Interment in St. lohn Lutheran Cemetery. If so desired, memorials may be made to St, John Lutheran Church.

    Ruth E. Poerschke, 87, of North Tonawanda, former Niagara County deputy commissioner of jurors, died Tuesday (Oct. 15, 1996) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a brief illness. The former Ruth E. Heppner and her husband, Bernhardt O. Poerschke, managed the Coffee Shop & Snack Bar at the Airport Bowling Lanes in Cheektowaga in the early 1950s. Her husband died in 1985. They had been married 61 years. A native of Wheatfield, she served as deputy town clerk for the Town of Wheatfield from 1968 to 1971 and as deputy commissioner of jurors from 1973 to 1978. She was a charter member and past president of the Town of Wheatfield Republican Club and the Wheatfield Senior Citizens and was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She also was a charter member and past president of the Adams Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include two sons, Robert W. of Williamsville and Richard R. of Wheatfield; four sisters, Myrtle Werth of Bergholz, Margaret Verch of North Tonawanda and Edna Chace and Gloria Dunn, both of Hallandale, Fla.; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Spallino-Amigone Funeral Home, 1300 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery, Wheatfield.

(Storbeck) Werth on March 5, 2023; a son, Gary Werth; and sister, Shirley Miller.Survivors include two daughters, Debra (Frank) Yeamans, and Darla Werth (Matthew Shields); eight grandchildren, Nicole Carlson, Chad Ammon, Erica Carlson, Kevin Romero, Jessica Werth, Brandon Mincey, Melissa Werth, and Allison Werth; four great-grandchildren, Josh Ammon, Devyn Romero, Emily Ammon, and Benjamin Mincey; and a great-great-grandson, Levi Ammon.Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, October 21 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, corner of Niagara Road and Luther Street in Bergholz. The Rev. Denton White, will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, or to the Kidney Foundation. Arrangements were with the DuBois Funeral Home, Wheatfield, NY.

    Robert W. Poerschke, a former deli owner from Amherst, died Saturday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst. He was 85.

    Born in North Tonawanda, Mr. Poerschke attended North Tonawanda High School. He was a staff sergeant in the Army during World War II and also served in the Korean War.

    From 1947 to 1982, he coowned and operated Muellers Delicatessen on Bailey Avenue, known for its specialty sandwiches.

    Mr. Poerschke was a past member of the Adams Fire Company and North East Lodge, F&AM. He enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing. He also liked to play euchre and pinochle.

    Mr. Poerschke is survived by his wife, the former Annamarie Mueller.

    Services will be at 11:30 a. m. today in Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Drive, Amherst.
