He was born in Berlin, Germany. He had llved here nearly a half century He leaves five daughters. Mrs. Edward Batt, Mrs. William Callopy, Mrs. Charles Koelsch of Buffalo, Elisabeth Schmeichel of Bradford. Pa..and five sons, Albert. William. born in Germany and had lived here 73 years. He is survived by his wife,
Adelaide Wienke Schmeichel; two sons, Arthur of Eggertsville and Wilbert

Mr. Schmeichel was a lifelong resident of North Tonawnada, a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and a former employe of Buffalo Pump, retiring 17 years ago. He is survived by two sons, LaVern C. Mr. Batt began his real estate career in the firm of Batt, Doring and Miller. In 1976, it became Realty World Realty One and grew to include 13 branch offices.
He was past president of real estate boards in Buffalo, Tonawanda and Niagara Falls, and served as regional vice president and governor of the New York State Association of Realtors.
Active in the Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce in the Tonawandas, he also was a past president of the Tonawanda Lions Club. He moved to Venice in 1995.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, dancing, playing cards, traveling and watching his daughter, Kristen Batt Rohr, play professional beach volleyball.
He and his wife, the former Patricia Wrazin, would have celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on Dec. 29.
Survivors also include two sons, Richard and Donald; two stepsons, David and Scott Muir; and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the Buffalo area in midsummer.
