    George Henry Wilcox, 65, retired
    locomotive engineer, of 3695 1/2 Pine

    avenue, died at his home at 1:30 am.
    today after a long illness. A native
    of Buffalo, he had resided here 35
    years. He was employed by the Le- high Valley railroad for 45 years,
    retiring two years ago.
    Mr. Wilcox was a veteran of the
    Spanish-American war and a member
    of M. B. Butler Camp No. 7,
    United Spanish War Veterans. He
    was also a member of the Veterans
    of Foreign Wars. Niagara River
    Lodge, No. 785, F. and A. M., and
    the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
    He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
    Myrtle May Wilcox; two sons,
    George H. Wilcox. Jr.. and Elmer G.
    Wilcox: a daughter. Mrs. Frank D.
    Richardson, and three sisters, Mrs.
    Maude Hochreiter, of Rochester,
    N. Y.; Mrs. Adeline Brady, of Buffalo,
    arid Mrs. Cora Labes, of California.
    Funeral services will be held at the
    Gridley funeral home at 2 pm. Sunday,
    with interment at the convenience
    of the family.

    Wilcox, Jr., 26, husband of Mrs.
    Frances Knize Wilcox, of 1860 Linwood avenue, and son of Mrs.
    Myrtle Wilcox, of 3695 1/2 Pine ave-
    nue, was killed in action in Ger-
    many on March 13.
    A native of this city, he was em-
    ployed by the Electro Metallurgical
    company before entering the army
    in August, 1944. He received his
    basic trainning at Camp Croft, S. C.,
    and left Fort George Meade, Mary-
    land, for overseas in January, 1945.
    Besides his wife and mother, he
    is survived by a daughter, Sandra
    Helen, age nine months; one broth-
    er, Elmer Wilcox, and one sister,
    Mrs. Frank Richardson, all of this
    city.
    Pfc. Wilcox was a member of an
    infantry division attached to Gen-
    eral Patton's Third Army forces.

    Obituary of Elmer G. Wilcox Jr.
    Elmer George “Herm” Wilcox, Jr., D.D.S age 86, of Lewiston and husband of Sharon Walters Wilcox entered into rest on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at his home in Lewiston. Herm was born on September 30, 1934 in Niagara Falls, NY, he is the son of the late Elmer G. and the late Margarita M. (Liersch) Wilcox. Herm was a graduate of Lasalle Sr. High School, Norwich University and U.B Dental School. He married Sharon Walters on December 19, 1959 in Buffalo, NY. He served in the United States Army Dental Corps. from 1960 to 1962 attaining the rank of Captain. Herm was a self-employed dentist who built and ran his practice out of his home office in Lewiston for 37 years. Starting at a young age Herm had a thirst for activity and excitement. He enjoyed golf, tennis, sailing, water and snow skiing, reading and pheasant hunting. Herm enjoyed fishing and boating with his “mates”, a term of endearment used within the family to describe his boating crew. The perpetually active and artistic man tied his own fishing flies as well as designed and built a cottage in Ontario, Canada. Herm was an excellent chef; his famous clam chowder was a treat the family looked forward to each Christmas Eve. Herm had a passion for oil and watercolor painting leaving behind countless artworks for future generations to appreciate his talents. He was also a jewelry maker. His first creation was a wedding ring for his beloved wife. He also made a gold ring for each of his daughters and granddaughter on their 16th birthdays. Herm excelled in athletics playing football and baseball at the collegiate level as well as for the U.S Army Dental Corps. As an avid car enthusiast Herm restored a 1957 AC Bristol British sports racing car.Herm was a member of several organizations including: UB Dental Alumni Association, the Youngstown Yacht Club, Historical Association of Lewiston, the Lewiston Council on Arts, and a past member of the Niagara Falls Country Club and Ducks Unlimited.Surviving is his wife Sharon; his children Julie Villoni of Conneaut, OH, Catherine (Chris) Siler of Raleigh, NC and Heather Donovan of Lewiston; his grandchildren who called him “Papa” Jason, Pete, Nick (Katie) and Pat Alessi, Anne and Sam Siler and Liam Donovan and great grandchild Alexis Alessi.No Prior Visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced. Burial will take place in Lewiston Village Cemetery.
