Marian L. Burkard Hensel, formerly of 93rd Street and Bollier Avenue, died Saturday, August 30, 2008 in Weinberg Campus, Rosa Coplan Home, following a lengthy illness. She was 93. She was born in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY on May 31, 1915, a daughter of the late Harold and Louella (Wallace) Stricker.She attended area schools. Mrs. Hensel was employed as a floor manager for Nabisco Shredded Wheat for 44 years. She retired in 1976. She was a long time member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed crocheting, bingo and card playing. She was predeceased by husbands’, Russell Burkard in 1960; and Paul Hensel in 2000.Survivors include a nephew, Edward Stricker, Jr. (Jean) of Niagara Falls; two nieces, Dana Menegatos (James) of Las Vegas and Janice Walter of Niagara Falls; also survived by several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands’, she was predeceased by her twin, Edward J. Stricker, Sr.; and her brother, Wallace H. Age 88 of North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY, December 10, 2005 at his home. Beloved husband of Marilyn Stricker of North Tonawanda; father of Kristen (John) Senall of Amherst and Craig Stricker of Plano, TX; grandfather of Olivia Senall; brother of Marian Hensel of Getzville; uncle of one niece and three nephews. Mr. Stricker was a WWII army veteran. He taught history and economics at Niagara Wheatfield High School from 1958-1989. Friends may call at the FRETTHOLD FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 11 AM, interment in White Chapel Memorial Park.

Bonita Jeanne (Wallace) Shanesey of Niagara Falls, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 in Schoellkopf Health Care Center. She was 89. She was born in Niagara Falls on December 24, 1925, the daughter of Clarence and Aileene (Crafts) Wallace.

In earlier years, she worked for the former Spirella Corset Company and for 30 years she worked for the Niagara Gazette in the classified advertising department. She retired from full time employment in 1986 but continued part time for several years.

She had a love for life and socializing. She enjoyed her visits to area coffee shops, the casino, her lottery tickets and watching game shows.
Mrs. Shanesey was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, John W. Shanesey, Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Bernice Irwin of Sparks, NV; nieces and nephews, Tim and Jan Irwin; Patrick and Mel Irwin and Gregory and Tricia Irwin; her dear friends, Ginny Stepien; Cynthia and Mark Cramer and Dr. Robert Mahood. Also survived by several great nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior visitation. Private services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Memorial Park Cemetery. The LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., is handling the funeral arrangements.

Life story

 
Edward J. Stricker, Jr., 79, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on February 24, 2022 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.  Born on February 2, 1943 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Edward J. Stricker, Sr. and the late Dorothy (Ward) Hipple.  On June 20, 1964, Ed married his high school sweetheart, Jean Hager.

 
Ed was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and graduated from LaSalle Senior High School.  He proudly served in the United States Navy, from October 12, 1961 until his honorable discharge on February 11, 1966.  In 2003, Ed retired from Verizon, where he was employed as a Electronics Technician.  He enjoyed listening to music, reading and watching sports.  Above all, Ed loved spending time with his family and friends.

 
In addition to his beloved wife, Ed is survived by children, Brian (Michele) Stricker, Jeffrey (Mary Jo) Stricker and Cheryl (John) Mack; grandchildren, Steven Beach, Jordan (Jeslene) Beach, Sydney Stricker, Morgan Stricker, Madi Stricker, Katie Mack and Liam Mack; great-grandchildren, Emma Kilner, Kaylee Beach and Harper Beach; sister, Janice Walter and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Dana (living, James) Menegatos.

 
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday, from 3-7 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007) where Ed’s funeral service and life celebration will be held on Tuesday, March 1st at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
