James A. Franklin, brother of
Mrs. Elwood B. Sparling, Lewiston,
and brother-in-law of Mrs.
Herbert G. Hibbard, also of
Lewiston, died Thursday (Nov.
7, 1968) in' La Mesa, Calif. Before
moving to California several
years ago, Mr. Franklin
was a business man in Niagara
Falls.
He was born in Niagara Falls
of a pioneer family and was
educated at Niagara Falls High
School and the University of
Buffalo. At one time, Mr.
Franklin was vice president of
the Walter S. Johnson Building
Co. Inc; a past Exalter Ruler
of the Niagara F a l l s Elks
Lodge; a member of the Board
of Education, the Niagara Falls
Lions Club and the Niagara
Club.
In addition to his sister. Mrs.
Sparling, he is survived by his
wife Sarah (Hughes) Franklin;
one son. Dr. Charles T. Franklin,
and five grandchildren, all
of La Mesa, and several nieces
and nephews.
Burial will be at the Erickson
• Anderson Mortuary, La
Mesa, Calif*.
