A veteran-of World War 1, John Fotus, 54, of 217 Niagara street died today In Buffalo General hospital. Born In Greece, he had resided in this city for the last 25 years and was employed by the .Electro Metallurgical division, of the Union Carbide and Carbon corporation at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Ada; one son, John, Jr., and two daughters, Marie and SallyAnn, all of this city. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 pm. at the Spallino Funeral home and at 2:30 pm. at St. George's Greek Orthodox church. Interment will be in Memorial Park cemetery.

 John Jesse Fotus "Gus", age 87 of Bergholz (Town of Wheatfield), NY, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, on August 6, 2024 at the McAuley Residence in the Town of Tonawanda, after a brief illness. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 9, 1936; son of the late John P. and Ada (Davis) Fotus. John attended Union Springs High School, in Union Springs, NY, and served in the United States Army, 82nd. Airborne Division from 1954-1957, of which he was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, and the Parachutist Badge. John was employed at the Carborundum Company, and then Harrison Radiator as a Millwright, retiring in October 1999. He was a life long member of The Bridge Assembly of God, in Niagara Falls, where he served as an usher and van driver. Hobbies and interests included cars, woodworking, gardening, and carpentry.Survivors include his loving wife, Naomi Mary (Heisner) Fotus, whom he married October 25, 1955; a daughter, Lynne Joan LaVerdi (Nunzio) of Bergholz; a sister, Sally Glifton of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Ammie Fotus, Samantha (Alex) Soloman, John T. Fotus, Matthew Mettler, Sarah Brennan, Andrew Iorfida, Rachelle (Adam) Fleming, Brittany (Kirk) Lubecki, and Rebecca Haseley; a daughter in law, Noel Fotus; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janine Marie Iorfida; a son, John William Fotus; and sister, Marie Matsche.Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Sunday (August 25) from 4-8 p.m. Services will be conducted by Pastor Christopher Cooper, on Monday (August 26) at 10:00 a.m. in The Bridge Assembly of God, 9750 Niagara Falls Blvd., Niagara Falls, NY 14304. JOHN WILLIAM FOTUS, age 61 of Niagara Falls, NY, was called to his heavenly home on September 20, 2020, at the Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on August 3, 1959, son of John J. and Naomi (Heisner) Fotus, of Wheatfield. As a young boy, John delivered newspapers for the Niagara Gazette, with his dog Snowball. Later, he was employed in production at Harrison Radiator, and then at Niagara Mobile Home Service, prior to starting his own business in 1994, called John's Mobile Home Service. John took great pride in his work, and many of his customers became like family to him. John enjoyed spending time at his place in the Southern Tier. He especially loved when his family would come down and spend time there. John enjoyed riding four wheelers and hunting, was an animal lover, and loved his dogs and cats.Survivors include his wife, Noel A. (Griffin) Fotus. They were married April 21, 1990; three children, Aimee Fotus, Samantha Fotus (Alex Solomon), and John Thomas Fotus; His parents; a sister, Lynne LaVerdi (Nunzio); three grandchildren, Evan, Jeffrey and Olivia; beloved aunts and uncles, Alan and Joan Dittbrenner, Tom and Lois Heisner, Ralph and Nancy Stuk, Marie Matsche, and Sally Clifton; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless close friends.John was predeceased by a sister, Janine Iorfida.Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Friday (September 25) from 2-6 p.m. Services will follow the visitation at 6:00 p.m.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice House, or First Assembly of God.

Janine Marie (Fotus) Iorfida, 53, of the Town of Wheatfield, was called to her heavenly home by God on January 29, 2015, after a lengthy illness. She was the precious daughter of John and Naomi (Heisner) Fotus. Janine was a graduate of Niagara-Wheatfield High School in 1979. She continued her education at the Continental School of Beauty in Buffalo, NY, where she developed her passion in cosmetology. Janine later owned and operated The Hair Studio located in Bergholtz, NY. She ended her career as a teaching assistant at Orleans- Niagara Boces, where she found great fulfillment in nurturing her students.

Janine was born and raised in the First Assembly of God Church, where she dedicated her life to Jesus. She enjoyed bowling, camping and listening to country music. She also enjoyed spending time with family, friends and playing board games. Above all, Janine's greatest pleasure in life was her three children and granddaughter, Madeline Grace, who she loved to visit in North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, Janine was the devoted mother of Matthew, Andrew and Sarah; loving grandmother of Madeline; dear sister of John (Noel) Fotus and Lynne (Nunzio) LaVerdi; beloved niece of Joan (Alan) Dittbrenner; and the loving granddaughter to the late Ada and Harold (Fotus) Rutherford and to the late Florence and William Heisner. Janine is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, especially her lifelong friend Annmarie Wait.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to First Assembly of God Church and the many health care providers including Mt. St. Mary's Hospital (Sister Judith), Niagara Hospice and Venture Forthe Inc. for the compassionate care and kindness given to Janine.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 2nd from 4-8 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to celebrate a funeral service on Tuesday, February 3rd at 10:00 A.M. in the First Assembly of God Church, 9750 Niagara Falls Boulevard, Niagara Falls, NY.
