BATAVIA, N.Y. (AP) - A
farmer has received a prison
term of from five to 10 years
for shooting his 76-year-old
mother to death during a family
argument.
Judge Philip J. Weiss of Genesee
County Court Monday sentenced
Howard C. Roggow, 52,
on a reduced charge of first-degree
manslaughter.
State Police said Roggow shot
his mother, Mrs. Cora Roggow,
with a rifle because she ordered
furniture moved from his bedroom
to make room for a guest
Roggow also wounded hit
brother, Christopher, 44, during
the incident on the family farm
near here last July 15, troopers
said.

Lillian Witkop 54, of this
village, died Wednesday (Sept.
16, 1970) at Medina Memorial
Hospital following a long illness.
Born Oct. 9,1915, in the Town
of Alabama, N.Y., she. was the
daughter of Christopher and
Cora Roggow and had resided
in the Mlddleport area her entire
life. She was a member
of Trinity Lutheran Church of
Wolcottsville,
She was the widow
Franklin T Witkop.
Surviving are three sons,
Franklin Witkop Jr. of Laurel,
Md.; Terry Witkop of Corfu,
N.Y., and David Witkop of
Akron, N.Y.; four daughters,
Mrs. Henry Hale of East
Bethany, N.Y., Mrs. James
Landon of this village and Mrs.
Linda Cassett and Miss Carol
Witkop both of Corfu, N.Y.;
four brothers, Christopher and
Norman Roggow of Medina and
Burt and Hoard Roggow of this
village;, two sisters, Mrs. Fred
Wells and Mrs. Elmer Scharlau,
both of Medina, and 13
grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 p.m.. today at
the Wallace and Heath
Funeral Home where services
will be conducted Friday at 2
p.m. by Rev. C. B. Reichert.
Burial will be in Mount
Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby,
N.Y.

Christopher C. Roggow, 69, of
12663 Ridge Road, Albion, died early
today at Medina Memorial Hospital
following a short illness.
Born Nov. 22, 1918 in Alabama,
N.Y., his parents were the late
Christopher and Cora (Like) Roggow.
Mr. Roggow had lived much of
his life on Ridge Road in Albion.
He was a veteran of the U.S.
Army having served in Germany in
the European Theater during World
War II. He fanned in the Town of
Alabama and on Ridge Road (Pafk
farm). He also trimmed trees for the
Department of Transportation (New
York State) and enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include two sisters and
three brothers, Mrs. Rose Scharlau
of Albion, Howard Roggow of
Brockport, Bert (Dorothy) Roggow
of Middleport, Mrs. Fred (Mildred)
Wells of Medina and Norman (Margaret)
Roggow of Medina; and several
nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives may call
Wednesday (2-4, 7-9) a,t the Bames-
Tuttle Inc. Funeral Home, 226 Pearl
St., where a funeral service will be
held Thursday at 2 p.m. The Rev.
Dennis Lund will officiate and burial
will be in Alabama Cemetery, Alabama,
