services for Fred J. Pollow, 80, were
held at his home in the town of
Porter on Tuesday at 9 o'clock and
at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran
church At North Ridge, of which
he was a member at 2:30 o'clock,
with, the Rev, Carl W. Oldaeh, resi-
dent pastor, officiating, Burial was
In North Ridge cemetery. The pallbearers

Mr. Pollow is survived by his
widow, Mrs. Augusta Pollow, three

RANSOMVILLE—John C. Pollow,
68, of Lockport-Youngstown
Rd., a retired Carborundum Co.
employe and farmer, died Sunday
(April 13, 1958) at Ransomville
General Hospital, where he had
been a patient for nine days. He
had been in ill health for the last
10 months.
A native of this community, Mr.
Pollow was the son of the late
Fred and Augusta Voss Pollow.
He was a member of St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, North Ridge. He
retired two years ago from the Niagara
Falls Carborundum plant
he worked 15 years as a rigger.
Surviving are his wife, Ella
Strablow Pollow, five sons, Norman,
John, Harold and Donald
Pollow, all of this community;
and Lawrence Pollow, Sanborn; a
daughter, Mrs. Chester Schultz,
Lockport; a brother, Edward Pollow,
Ransomville; two sisters, Mrs.
Herman Seefeldt and Mrs. Walter
Strablow, both of this community;
and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted
at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the
family home and at 2:30 p.m. at
St. Peter's Church by the Rev.
Carl Oldach Burial will be in St.
Peter's Cemetery.

Mrs. Strablow is survived by her

BELLEVUE, OH — Carol A. Harkelroad, age 71, of Bellevue, OH, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Elmwood at the Springs, Green Springs. She was born September 19, 1939 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Zygmunt and Idabell (Strablow) Tarnowski.

Carol was a homemaker and drove school bus for Bellevue City Schools for many years. She raised 90 foster children. Carol and her husband owned and operated Don’s Pizza Shop for over 18 years.

Carol was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Lyme Grange, the Advisory Board for Sandusky County Children’s Services and Sandusky County Board of Elections.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Donald E. Harkelroad, whom she married September 19, 1959 in Lockport, NY; daughter, Tammy Harkelroad of Bellevue, OH; brother, Alan Tarnowski or Ransomville, NY; sisters, Jane Murr-Harmon of Scottsdale, AZ, Sue Timmons of Bellevue, OH and Cindy Freeman of Castalia, OH. Her parents preceded her in death.

Friends were received Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 4–8 PM at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, March 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the 7th grade class at Immaculate Conception School, 304 E. Main St., Bellevue, OH 44811 for their 8th grade trip.

Alan P. “Al” Tarnowski, 73, of Cambria entered into rest on Saturday December 11th, 2021, in Wheatfield, NY. Born on July 9th, 1948, in Niagara Falls, NY to his late parents Zygmunt S. “Ziggy” and Ida Belle L. Strablow Tarnowski. Al attended Wilson CSD and was the owner and operator of Al’s Performance and was a prior employee of the Town of Cambria. Al loved racing, he raced at Ransomville Speedway in the 1970’s and was the head tech official at Ransomville and Lancaster Speedways in the late 1980’s and Early 1990’s. He enjoyed his family especially his grandchildren.Surviving are his sons, Ronald (Colleen) Tarnowski and Michael Tarnowski; his grandsons, Nicholas and Nathan Tarnowski and special friend and neighbors Tony (Maryann) Cogdill. Al is predeceased by his siblings Carol Harkelroad, Jane Murr, Cynthia Freeman and Sue Timmons.Calling hours will be held on WEDNESDAY from 4-7 PM. at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES INC. 3648 Ransomville Rd. Phillips, age 74, lifelong resident of Ransomville, died Friday March 20, 2015 at his home after a lengthy illness.David was born August 2, 1940 in Ransomville, the son of the late David and Marion (Strablow) Phillips. He was a 1959 graduate of Wilson High School and was employed in the Maintenance Dept. of Harrison Radiator in Lockport, from where he retired in 1989. David also was a truck driver for Mawhiney Trucking for 10 years.He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #617 in Lockport, the Wilson Conservation Club, and a member of the United Auto Workers Union.David was predeceased by his loving wife, Joan (Carnrike) Phillips on May 4, 1994. He is survived by a son, Michael (Peggy) Phillips of Youngstown; three grandsons, Shane M. (Katie) Phillips of Ransomville, Justin D. Phillips of Youngstown, and Keith D. Phillips of Newfane; and a great granddaughter, Rowin Phillips. He was predeceased by a son, Daniel D. Phillips in 1979. TOWN OF CAMBRIA — Katherine A. "Katie" Lewis, age 69, of the Town of Cambria, died on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at her residence, under the loving care of her family and Niagara Hospice. Katie was born on February 21, 1942 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late David W. and Marion A. (Strablow) Phillips and was a lifelong resident of the Town of Cambria.

She was a 1958 graduate of Wilson High School and a graduate of Bryant & Stratton. For many years she worked on her family's farm and took their produce to the Niagara Falls City Market. Katie married James Lewis on June 8, 1963.

Katie was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge. She was an avid gardener, who spent countless hours on her lawn and in her flower gardens, as well as an avid bowler. Katie loved spending time with her family and enjoyed taking rides around western New York to take in the beautiful scenery.

In addition to her husband, James, she is survived by her children, Steve (Cathy) Lewis of the Town of Cambria and Tammy (Mark) Reeson of the Town of Hartland; her grandchildren, Steven and Sarah Lewis, and Mark Reeson; a brother, David (late Joan) Phillips of Ransomville; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, James Reeson.
